- 11Heather, on 10/11/2007, -11/+84Sure, no more attacks on American soil - but tons of attacks on Americans. Just cast your eye outside of your shores for a moment to see how any Americans venturing outside of the U.S. Are now bigger targets than ever before.
Also, what about Americas "allies" - the Brits and Aussies? Brits are being attacked repeatedly on their own shores, whilst Aussies are dying abroad.
Safer? Remove the blinkers from your eyes my friends. - UnFriendlyFire, on 10/11/2007, -3/+45And I haven't been struck by lightning since I started carrying my lucky rabbit's foot. That proves that it really lucky
Thats what we call specious reasoning http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=specious
- Waiting2awake, on 10/11/2007, -3/+43 Does that make any sense? Even to you?
- underthelinux, on 10/11/2007, -2/+41L: “By your logic, I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away.”
H: “Hmm; how does it work?”
L: “It doesn’t work; it’s just a stupid rock!”
H: “Uh-huh.”
L: “... but I don’t see any tigers around, do you?”
H: "Lisa, I want to buy your rock." - Tacgnol, on 10/11/2007, -6/+41The number of terrorist attacks in the Middle East has skyrocketed since the Iraq invasion, Al-Qaeda is now fully operative in Iraq, a country where they had no presence at all before 2003.
And frankly, I'm not surprised.
If you bomb a country, create more poverty, destroy its infraestructure, and topple a dictator but only after having sold him weapons for more than a decade, it's only logical that these people will hate you. By creating more poverty, many Iraquis ended up with resentment, and relying on muslim groups for shelter and survival. The same happened in Lebanon with Hezbollah - Israel bombed the country, and now Hezbollah is leading the reconstruction effort, thus gaining more supporters each day. - jmkiii, on 10/11/2007, -5/+35It is just like the war on drugs!
- rhysmd, on 10/11/2007, -1/+29You know what, I agree, you can't prove it, so dammit, justify to me why we are getting our soldiers killed and killing people all over the world.
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/19/2007, -10/+38The world is less secure due to the make-belief War On Terror? Well, no *****. Captain Obvious is working overtime right now it seems.
- CaptainNoPants, on 10/11/2007, -2/+30It doesn't, and he knows it.
- Tacgnol, on 10/11/2007, -2/+27World =/= United States
- venicerocco, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25Damn - those dreaded Libruls were right all along.
- theNazz, on 10/11/2007, -7/+29Fear not, PNAC is moving ahead with the program no matter how many civillians have to die.
- dcoolidge, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21Religion is the biggest and stupidest excuse for war.
- BlackStar77, on 10/19/2007, -7/+25In other news: The sky is blue.
- SonOfHam, on 10/11/2007, -5/+22Ah, yeah we did. Or were you asleep when our country was attacked with Anthrax?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_anthrax_attacks
Great job finding the perpetrators, dubya! - kinerry, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18Terror isn't an enemy, it's a strategy
Declaring a war on terror is like declaring war on surprise attacks! - davidlow, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Simply put, George Bush is creating terrorists faster than he can kill them.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+19They don't want us dead, they want us to quit meddling in the Middle East. This isn't the American Holocaust here, it isn't remotely feasible. And the more we kick the hornet's nest, the more pissed off they're gonna be.
- weekapaug81, on 10/11/2007, -5/+20yeah and this rock I have, which is for sale, prevents panther attacks. I have been carrying it for years and havent been attacked by any panthers. I can hook you up with one if you are into protecting your family from dangerous panther attacks. You do love your family, don't you?
- hfactor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Yeah that´s the sad part.
The world is less safe because of the American War on Terror. - rhysmd, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18but you can't assume a person is going to hurt you until they do, you can't project a crime onto a human being, and you can't kill people based on factors except what they do.
the war in Iraq is basically genocidal - NekoIan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14"Here's a key exchange from White House Homeland Security Advisor Frances Townsend's press conference yesterday about the new NIE on al Qaeda. We know that intelligence estimates received by the White House prior to the invasion of Iraq warned that the invasion and occupation could give new life to al Qaeda -- a boon for recruitment, fundraising and more. Yesterday, CNN's Ed Henry asked Townsend precisely this question. Weren't you warned about this in advance of the war and haven't those predictions now proven out? Isn't al Qaeda stronger and aren't we more vulnerable because of the invasion of Iraq." :
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/015511.php - mightyzug, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15and how many attacks have there been on our allies' soil?? does that make any sense to you?
oh wait i forgot we don't have any allies, just human shields, thats how the USA rolls. :P - mightyzug, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14hornets nest w/ a baseball bat?? rofl you ain't gonna win
you're gonna piss off the hornets, get a ***** of stings, perhaps develop a sting allergy if it's excessive enough, and the hornets are gonna rebuild the nest before your stupid ass gets out of the hospital - wendelgee2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12You're the ones who confused Saddam with Osama and now they're back to full strength. Mission accomplished.
- KuJo6784, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16I completely agree, but I think you mean blinders. I'm not constantly trying to make left turns.
- geometry, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13So even if I concede to your argument that there haven't been any more attacks on US soil as a result of this war, is that worth the lives of over 3 thousand US soldiers and countless Iraq's? How many lives were lost in the 3 or 4 attacks you mentioned during Clintons reign? How much money did those attacks cost US tax payers? How many innocent non-americans were killed as a result of those attacks? How did those attacks effect the view the rest of the world has about our "great" nation?
- Tacgnol, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Maybe past western involvement in the region may have something to do with it... Iran was a functioning democracy until the CIA and the MI6 toppled the Mossadeq government and installed the Shah in 1953. It has not been a democracy since then.
Or how about the US government currently backing dictatorships in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia or Pakistan? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13Let's look at what they're so ***** pissed off about, shall we? Seems just a tad irrational that they would put all that effort into blowing us up for no good reason.
- dodus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+99-11 wasn't the first time the US and the Middle East crossed paths. You *might* want to read a book, or an article, or something that contains information about what you're talking about.
- FloppyLlamaDigg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Or maybe you should rethink your strategy before you tire yourself out from swinging uselessly and get stung thousands of times.
- DarkDakota, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8What about us Canadians? Are we not allies? Or is it that you only think of us when you are stitching our flag on to your clothing when travelling abroad.
- wendelgee2, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Well, they aren't affiliated with a state, so there are no political channels for them. But if you listen to what they say, they slammed planes into buildings because we had troops in Saudi Arabia (holy ground) and because of the strife in Palestine and our support of Israel right or wrong. That last one is really really complicated, but in essence, they want us to stop meddling.
- Tacgnol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Finland was extremely friendly with the Soviet Union during the same time frame. And so was Sweden. And France under DeGaulle.
What's your point? - Waiting2awake, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10 We don't forget it - we just see it as patently false. Hatred and evil are sadly a human failing that we all have. Those terrorists are, by definition, counter-punchers. They can only react - which means before they could react, we had to act. What did we do to help this along - and if you answer that question honestly, you'll find the west has done a piss load to pissoff people all over the world. Trying to forget that truth, isn't helping.
Islam isn't the problem, it is the "us Vs them" mentality that is. - mumblyjoe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8You must be new to our planet! Welcome. Now, until you learn a bit about our history, please STFU.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9"Short term"? We beat Hitler in less time.
- rhysmd, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11DUDE, The National Intelligence Estimate, put out by the Bush Administration, says that we are facing pre 9/11 threat level.
You honestly think they would make this up?
They are pulling it out of the mouth of our illustrious president - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Uh, this is far from the best country in the world.
If it was the best country in the world, everyone with good intentions would revolt and kick these ***** out of office. That's not happening.
The system, the government, is deeply flawed. We *were* the greatest country until people started exploiting it and ***** all over it. Now we have a wasteland that will take generations to fix.
If it was the best country in the world, the system would fix itself and punish those exploiting and taking advantage of the power they swore to use justly. - SonOfHam, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10No one's "blaming America first", dumbass. What people are blaming, is that the War on Terror as practiced by the Bush Administration only briefly targetted the terrorists who actually attacked us, and moved away from that goal so that we could pursue an endless war in Iraq -- where none of the terrorists who attacked us were located.
So riddle me this, numbnuts:
Why is the Taliban regaining power?
Why weren't the Saudi's punished for their role in funding the terrorists?
Why weren't enough troops made available for the Battle of Tora Bora?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Tora_Bora
Exactly how far up your ass is your head?
Blame America First? ***** off. - geometry, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11If so many people want us dead, as you believe, might there be a reason for it?
Think back to grade school. Everybody wanted to kill one kid right, and he did nothing to deserve it? Usually the kid that everybody hates is a bully and deserves to be hated. We're the bully in this world. We try to tell everybody how to live and die and when they don't agree with us we force them to. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Ironically enough, Saddam was successfully suppressing these terrorists, he jailed and killed extremists. Google it. Once again for the dense: Saddam had nothing to do with the Al Qaeda group. He was a secular leader & opposed crazy moslems.
- zyl0x, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9That's a no-brainer.
- venicerocco, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Exactly how long is this "short term"?
I have a feeling that the Right Wing and NeoCons will want this short term to last a really, really long time... - ibookfast, on 10/11/2007, -7/+13the sad fact of the matter is this controlled chaos is by design, keep people afraid, underpaid, misinformed, and you'll laugh all the way to the bank with your Haliburton profits... sick ***** NeoCons, Inc. 911 the sequel is about to released, get your tickets early, gonna be another great show. btw, there is no statue of limitation regarding mass murder, I will never forget what BushCo. and friends did.
- mightyzug, on 10/11/2007, -1/+71/2 for one, 50% for the other.
is the world less safe?? or are the terrorists more active because we are over there??
what's the difference? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9I hate how most people, especially Americans, don't admit that the current government is just ***** and failed.
THAT is the problem - not so much the government. See, we have a democracy, and if the majority of people are stupid and pigheaded, then the government will naturally follow suit, as it truly represents the majority.
Face it, we ARE the enemy and most of us are on the wrong side. - the6thReplicant, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6See Dewhead there are a lot of very different ways of interpreting the phrase "the world is less safe".
One is to look at how the words have meaning that make sense and how the ordering conveys a meaning. The other is to be a complete prick and replace the word "The world" with "me" and "Bush" with "my girlfriend" and deduce the falseness of the statement.....Hence the reason for your comment.
Again, thanks for being a prick.
Note you can replace "my girlfriend" with "my hoe" or "my mum's ding-dong which I suck each day before breakfast" - specialK16, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Religion is the biggest and stupidest excuse for anything.
