-------
"Our discussion of possible legal action was never about removing Christmas trees it was about protecting the right to add menorahs." -- Rabbi Elazar Bogomilsky, Chabad of Greater Seattle
-------
Since when has there been a *right* to add religious symbols to anything in public spaces?! I understand there are certain equal representation and non-discrimination considerations in law (which is exactly why the trees were taken down), but I don't know how that ever became translated to "I have the explicit right to make you add religious symbol X to public display Y." - VolatileWhimsy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I see nothing wrong with them putting up a Hanukkah menorah, but threatening to sue over it is upsetting.. :/
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh no, an airport is taking down Christmas trees because they didn't want to add menorahs! How will I celebrate Christmas now?! Santa is dead, and we have killed him!!
What's that? The Christmas trees are going back up? Ha ha, Christmas is saved, all thanks to the efforts of one brave little airport. Take that, you Christ-killers!
/sarcasm - pastaq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This isnt the real war of christmas anyway. http://www.endchristmas.com/ is.
