- johndi, on 05/19/2008, -4/+118We all know this is impossible. There is just no way this could happen in the UK with all those cameras around to protect people.
- Jonjonjonny, on 05/19/2008, -7/+87***** the Daily Mail.
- saxreturns, on 05/19/2008, -5/+69"Mrs Barber, for her part, was too scared to come to the door when we called at her bungalow."
Yeah, I wouldn't answer the door either if the Daily Fail came a-calling. - inactive, on 05/19/2008, -3/+57I have yet to see these “feral” gangs of vicious girls in all my years in London. Even if there are teenage girl gangs, how does celebrity culture encourage them? Surely, if the Mail was that concerned by “celebrity culture” they would remove their entire sidebar on the right-hand side of the website which currently has 8 stories on various celebrities.
- vault, on 05/19/2008, -2/+56The council estate chav culture destroyed tea, crumpets, cucumber sandwiches, and every other English tradition.
- curseoflou, on 05/19/2008, -2/+52BURIED!!!
***** stupid daily mail ***** makes me envy being stabbed in the retinas. - mattus, on 05/19/2008, -2/+45I live in the UK... yes, there is an acknowledged problem with gangs, but this article makes it sound like there are packs of feral girls roaming every street after dark. In reality, I've never actually seen any such gangs. Typical Daily Mail - they've got all they can out of the boy gangs angle so they've found some new mileage in the girls.
- xaeon, on 05/19/2008, -2/+43I like the way they casually threw violent video games in there.
- socivitus, on 05/19/2008, -1/+42"You do not have to grow up on a sink estate, come from a broken home, get excluded from school, be promiscuous, binge drink or play violent computer games to become immersed in this culture."
Man, I wish I was cool enough when I was 14 to smoke, drink, listen to rap, and beat up teachers. What happened to afternoon tea and crumpets?! - Pentagram6, on 05/19/2008, -1/+39You do not have to...play violent computer games to become immersed in this culture. But - boy or girl - this is more likely if you do."
They just HAD to dig at the video games again didn't they? - gypsi, on 05/19/2008, -4/+38because rationality and common sense will get them nowhere with voters
- Po0py, on 05/19/2008, -1/+34I think you have to live in Britain to understand just how pathetic a newspaper The Daily Mail is.
Constant fear mongering. They are the fox news of conservative Britain. Quit digging this *****. - terajoule, on 05/19/2008, -2/+34Viddy well, droogs. Viddy well.
- inactive, on 05/19/2008, -16/+42Why do right wingers have to invent crap to fear?
- CasinoJack, on 05/19/2008, -1/+24Who the hell would look up to Chantelle? She is a big-nosed bint famous for not being famous.
- zenserve, on 05/19/2008, -4/+26Stop. Digging. Articles. From. The Daily. *****. Mail. It's a despicable right-wing fish-wrapper whose entire purpose is devoted to leaving readers feeling either scared or angry.
- DangerCollie, on 05/19/2008, -1/+22" female so-called "stars" are photographed blind drunk and fighting in the gutter with other women outside nightclubs"
Over here we call that pay-per-view. - newstart, on 05/19/2008, -1/+21No!!!! Anything but cucumber sandwiches!!!
- binderskagnaes, on 05/19/2008, -0/+18When it comes to these type of people, I think that contraceptives should be sneaked into their food.
- saxreturns, on 05/19/2008, -1/+19Trust me man, the gangs of girls you see hanging around on UK streets really, really aren't. Although they might be without the 10 lbs/sq inch of makeup, the massive earrings, the stupid 'gangsta' outfits and the irritating shrill voices.
- drgachet, on 05/19/2008, -0/+17please stop giving this trash paper any further publicity! they are with out doubt the most useless bunch of attention seeking Muppet's this side of WEASEL news. 10 whole English pounds is riding on the fact that the kids seen drinking Stella are middle class models paid in full by the daily fail
- k00k, on 05/19/2008, -0/+16"No but, yeah but, no but, yeah but, no but" -Vicky Pollard
- dlllb, on 05/19/2008, -4/+17Buried for sensationalism. Yawn...
- PolarBearCa, on 05/19/2008, -7/+17Is it wrong that I sorta want to be beaten up by one of these girl gangs?
Well, only if they are hawt... - Angostura, on 05/19/2008, -3/+13No. It's a Daily Mail thing.
Next week in the Daily Mail: The terrifying rise of violent sneezing in dusty areas.
Buried as lame. - BassHead, on 05/19/2008, -1/+11Well said! When this showed up on RSS I just knew from the title it was going to be linked to a DM article.
Digg needs a "Buried for sensationalist crap" option - kublerross, on 05/19/2008, -1/+11such trash journalism. i like how they include this caption
"Joining boy gangs is often the next step up (file picture)"
good to know men, that our gangs are still a step up from those girl gangs. dont want these women getting all uppity on us - jontce, on 05/19/2008, -1/+10Agreed. The hyperbole in the article makes me sick.
- kublerross, on 05/19/2008, -0/+9but she weighs 13 stone man! 13 stone!
- faskill, on 05/19/2008, -0/+8See you read "beaten up" as beaten up... not laid. He's just looking for some action. Well, then again, maybe he's into that sort of thing.
- sesstreets, on 05/19/2008, -3/+11I kinda laughed when I saw the title... is it really that terrifying?
- alexforcefive, on 05/19/2008, -2/+10I'm from the UK. I travel all across scotland and I've never experienced anything like this. Is it an english thing?
- hitkaiser, on 05/19/2008, -0/+8I was just going to leave a comment about that photo. Those kids are models which is why
a). Their face(s) can be seen
b). The photographer isn't being abused
During a job I had last year I had to read 3 newspapers on a daily basis (don't ask), whenever there was a chav or "yob" related story they always threw in this stock photo but cropped at different levels regardless of the newspaper. - passedoutghost, on 05/19/2008, -2/+10***** THE DAILY MAIL!
- TheWriteGuy, on 05/19/2008, -0/+8"For some young girls, joining a male gang is their way of trying to feel cool, desirable and protected. The price for such protection - and the material rewards of membership - are high. Such girls are known as 'bitches'."
BWA-HAHAHAHAHA...! :D (I totally lost it when I came to reading that part of this increasingly sensationalist prose.) - MarkHarris2, on 05/19/2008, -0/+8I'm not sure if employees of the Daily Mail are digging this incessant crap up (let's be honest with their quality of 'journalism' there's bound to be a fair amount of spare time) or people here really are that vulnerable to such vulgar sensationalism.
Either way I am becoming ever more disappointed with what I see dugg to prominence. - S1ngular1ty1, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7I think he's hoping to see some boob while being pummeled.
- Kelmon, on 05/19/2008, -4/+11Er, pardon? Are we living in the same country? Damned if I've ever encountered these gangs. Sounds like Daily Mail ***** to me.
- eShinn, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7So in 40 years we'll have Hell's Granny's? ha ha ha ha
- inactive, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7The Spanish Inquisition?
- inactive, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7"Now THAT'S a titty!" "Fully, man! Fully!"
- chanop, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7OK, look at the picture they use in the article, and tell me they didn't steal this from an upcoming Onion article....
http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/05_02/GangDM ... - Lateralis1, on 05/19/2008, -3/+9You mean the Daily Fail?
- groovechamp30, on 05/19/2008, -2/+8Stupid Daily Mail crap again!
They are gaming Digg....
Bury this hateful rubbish. - eShinn, on 05/19/2008, -0/+6Funny. That's what I though. And I'm from Florida (the humid, dangling bit at the bottom south-east) of the U.S.
Here's your solution to the "chavs". Ride around in a car with a couple friends, invest in a couple high-powered paint-ball guns, and give them a drive-by pelting. You're not killing anyone. And there's large targets - or "game" as we can call them. ;.)
Seriously. I'd love to fly over just to ride around and lodge a high-velocity, explosive sphere of paint into a punks fat ass. Especially when they're busy beating someone up to see it coming. Certainly wouldn't be expecting it. That's for sure.
Plus. Don't you have pepper spray in the U.K.? That'd even out the odds. Let 'em grovel on the ground for a good while. Then rummage through THEIR pockets. ;.) - Kelmon, on 05/19/2008, -0/+6In my RSS reader I don't see the source of the Digg article but on reading the headline I could bet that it would be the bloody Daily Mail.
- RealmDown, on 05/19/2008, -0/+6Finally, an accurate quote.
- the6thReplicant, on 05/19/2008, -1/+7No Fox News looks like an intellectual hideout compared to The Daily Mail.
- xaeon, on 05/19/2008, -10/+16If you were from the UK you'd know full well that what they are talking about isn't invented crap.
