- MCA2142, on 07/30/2008, -1/+59You're right, F1 car would own the Tesla. But who's comparing the Tesla to an F1 car?
Here is a list of things the Tesla can do that an F1 car can't:
1. Play Music
2. Seat for your Girlfriend
3. No Petrol needed
4. Traction Control (Traction Control is outlawed in F1 this season)
5. Street Legal
6. Zero Carbon Emission
7. Makes Jason Calacanis Drool - inactive, on 07/30/2008, -5/+56What a ***** douche, if I had one of these I'd drive it like it was made out of kittens.
- ProfessorLX, on 07/29/2008, -19/+65dignews is an idiot if he/she thinks that only an f1 car is faster than the tesla roadster, and on another note, hey look some rich douche bag crashed a beautiful car!
- ryansmith18, on 07/29/2008, -1/+40I think you are missing the point of the vehicle. It's not meant to compete with an F1, or any other car similiar to that. You won't find anything on their website where they claim to compete with high-end racing cars.
Plus there's that whole thing about how it runs on electricity instead of gasoline. - ignisatra, on 07/30/2008, -3/+41I like it just because it was named after Nikola Tesla.
- sockpuppets, on 07/30/2008, -2/+35That'll buff right out.
- protogenxl, on 07/30/2008, -3/+35I see your $100,000 and raise you $1,500,000 with a Bugatti Veyron Crash.
http://www.bugatticrash.com/first-crash.php - Hosalabad, on 07/29/2008, -3/+34I love the article commenting on the airbags, the author clearly doesn't know how they work.
- wellyuk, on 07/30/2008, -0/+31Thanks for that.
Now how about you give us a comparison of kites with fighter jets? And goldfish with sharks? - Beanbones, on 07/30/2008, -6/+36Hey man, you just ***** up your Ferr... uhm, I mean Tesla.
Seriosuly though, that sucks. The one electrical car that's actually cool, and some douche goes and crashes it. Way to go. - Paradiddler45, on 07/30/2008, -0/+26There is no car on the road that can compete with an F1 car you tool. Take your commentary back to YouTube...
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -0/+26"You mean for $100,000 I still have to stop the car myself?"
- ryansmith18, on 07/29/2008, -4/+27You realize there is a reply button, right?
- jorisb, on 07/30/2008, -2/+25Enlighten us
- Jingoism, on 07/30/2008, -0/+20might be able to get a deal on #6
- diggB, on 07/30/2008, -1/+19I bet the driver will be charged with battery.
(ducks) - johnpaul191, on 07/30/2008, -0/+171) the dude was rear ended according to other pictures. while he may have slipped in front of a car in a shady way, the Tesla was rammed from the back and shoved under the other car. other pictures clearly show damage on the rear bumper (*possibly* explaining why the airbags didn't deploy).
2) other articles say the car was taken right back to Tesla who didn't think it was totaled.... though it's ultimately up to the insurance company. The big money in these cars are the batteries, and they are fine.
3) how often do you HEAR the car in front of you? that's nonsense. California in the summer and the driver didn't have windows up with AC on and possibly music playing? please. - lorindriel, on 07/29/2008, -2/+19How many cars that are on the streets can get up to 60 in 3.9 seconds? We are talking about cars that anyone (with the money) can drive regardless of age/ability. I doubt you see many 20 year old hotshots driving around in their F1 cars their dad bought for them while talking on their cellphones.
- nothugo, on 07/30/2008, -18/+34Let's try not linking to a damn blog shall we?
http://money.cnn.com/2008/07/07/technology/copelan ... - Nicksname1, on 07/30/2008, -0/+15This is a link to the story of the Tesla, informative yes. But the reason this is linked to a "damn blog" is because this "damn blog" is talking about someone that actually crashed the Tesla not about the Tesla itself. Dumbass!
- pkulak, on 07/30/2008, -0/+11I think he got rear-ended.
- thegrizz51, on 07/30/2008, -0/+11Absolutely! Nikola Tesla is responsible for a lot more amazing technology than he gets credit for, including most of what makes the Tesla Roadster possible. Too bad he has been buried by most historians. Nice to know there are other Tesla fans out there...and I don't mean the band!
- leakus, on 07/30/2008, -0/+10Agreed, I think Nikola Tesla is one of the most underrated scientists.
- Cybermaul, on 07/30/2008, -1/+11Wait, now there's an idea...a kitten-car would get great gas milage! The top speed might suffer a little, however, and it would probably be affected heavily by depreciation as the kittens age.
- pkulak, on 07/30/2008, -0/+9Yeah. Having to keep it under 125 is really going to slow down my commute.
- richbleak, on 07/30/2008, -1/+10What a douche.
- pitchblack16, on 07/29/2008, -4/+13nice friggin car, a definite buy if i had the money
- pinchduck, on 07/30/2008, -1/+8Who cars if the vehicle is silent? The other cars should have been looking, not listening, for traffic.
- spoogieking012, on 07/30/2008, -0/+7***** EDISON!
- barstegry, on 07/30/2008, -1/+8And it doubles as a car jack... friggin brilliant!!!!!
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -1/+8The author of that article is stupid. "Most costliest repairs," He needs to go back to elementary.
- skipdog172, on 07/30/2008, -0/+7how much one makes is relative to where they live. 100k/year can mean a lot of different ways of living
- wellyuk, on 07/30/2008, -0/+6Yawn.. yawn.. yawn..
I'd never describe myself as a religious man but I'm praying to anyone who's listening to kill off this meme and all who utter it. - ColorBlind, on 07/30/2008, -0/+6They can, sadly, afford not to...
- ocellnuri, on 07/30/2008, -1/+7But my Dad could beat up your Dad.
- billbugger, on 07/30/2008, -0/+6just get a carfax report.
- essjay, on 07/30/2008, -0/+6It really depends on your definition of "fast". The Tesla has fast acceleration because of the unique torque curve you get with electric motors (it's less a curve, more a line). But when you look at it's top speed, 125MPH (limited, admitedly, but it's limited for a reason), it's not that great. In fact, most moderately powerfull cars will beat it.
And why the hell are you comparing a two seater roadster to an F1 car? You tool. - bodegit, on 07/30/2008, -0/+6good thing the motor and batteries are in the back
- tman84, on 07/30/2008, -2/+8i will give you a +1 but every self important douche on digg will bury you because they have a blog and believe it matters.
- gimpbully, on 07/30/2008, -1/+6"you're"
- krische, on 07/30/2008, -0/+5NEW PAINT JOB!!! GREAT BUY!!!!
- Beanbones, on 07/30/2008, -1/+6In other words, the Tesla is what people these days would call "awesome".
- krnldmp, on 07/30/2008, -1/+6One complaint I have about the internet is it has allowed far too many people to think they are writers.
- ProfessorLX, on 07/30/2008, -0/+5you forgot insurance, interest etc etc etc
- billbugger, on 07/30/2008, -1/+5agreed, it did the same thing to me a few times today.
- FamousAnus, on 07/30/2008, -0/+4It got pwned? The rear bumper fascia appears to be the only thing really damaged...and that's just a simple piece of aesthetic painted fiberglass.
- ThePhotoBoy, on 07/31/2008, -0/+4"Dude I can fix it. My dad is a tv repair man. He got the ultimate set of tools."
- Glitchwerks, on 07/30/2008, -2/+6And the Veyron costs over a million dollars and will drain its fuel tank in 12 minutes at top speed. You're worse than the F1 guy. The only automobile this should be compared to is a Lotus Elise, which is the platform this is built off of.
- zaren, on 07/30/2008, -1/+5Better info on the crash can be found at http://hey.com/, including the picture that makes it look like the Tesla was rear-ended. Danged thing looks pretty crash-worthy.
- abajaj2280, on 07/30/2008, -3/+7don't let the wife drive the car.
