/s - czimmerman19, on 01/10/2009, -45/+173Not that I'm a big fan of Hamas, but nobody should pay attention to Dershowitz when he talks about Israel. He is one of those people who think its ***** doesn't stink.
- ciaran036, on 01/10/2009, -59/+153Buried as inaccurate. Biased nonsense.
- rothbard77, on 01/10/2009, -38/+119I wish Dershowitz could explain how the Hamas propaganda is so good, given that there are no CNN reporters in Gaza. Reporters are not allowed in.. I wish he would also explain how Hamas targets anything in israel since the accuracy of the rockets is essentially nil. It is Ironic indeed that the Israeli's sound almost exactly like the Nazi's during their seige of the Warsaw Ghetto.
- chronobyte, on 01/10/2009, -52/+133Militarily Hamas can never hope to match Israeli's but they still have a potent weapon: manipulation of public sentiment through selective media coverage to incite public outrage against Israel. In modern war military superiority isn't enough (Iraq war, 'nuff said), and so far Israel hasn't done quite as well against Hamas in psychological warfare.
- supporter of both sides chilling the ***** out - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -141/+217Hamas shoots of rockets at Isreal from schoolyards.
Hamas knows Isreal will target the source of the rocket.
Hamas knowingly sacrifices the lives of the innocent.
Hamas actually shoots rockets at palistinian targets.
Hamas knows "CNN" will show the world the atrocities.
Hamas incited the atrocities for airtime.
Hamas wants to draw in other Arab nations to defend Palistine.
It is a lot less cut and dry than what I described, but that is the basics of Hamas' theory. Incite retaliation from Isreal and make Palistine look like the "victim". Hamas and the rest of the Arab muslim world are weak and centuries behind the west in everything from culture to technology. They hate the west, but are to behind the times to do for themselves, and are angry at the west that they are dependent on the west. So they lash out. But, being of 14th century minds, they only have rocks as weapons, and the courage to stand up to their enemies is shown by cowardly using brainwashed suicide bombers.
They want to draw other arab muslim countries into the frey, by claiming to be the victim, but all they really want is the holy war. A war that they can only win a few battles through suicide missions, but not the war. - Dumbledorito, on 01/10/2009, -24/+95FTA: "Hamas itself has a name for this. They call it "the CNN strategy" (this is not to criticize CNN or any other objective news source for doing its job; it is to criticize Hamas for exploiting the freedom of press which it forbids in Gaza)."
What's odd about this is that Israel is barring reporters from entering Gaza to confirm reports given by the Israeli officials: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/07/world/middleeast ... - richmomz, on 01/10/2009, -17/+79Right - the huge Hamas lobby in the U.S. Government and western media must be to blame for all the negative publicity... >_>
- otayyo, on 01/10/2009, -8/+69I can tell you that The National Post should not be considered a trusted source. They are very very very Pro-Israel.
- emailowndme, on 01/10/2009, -21/+80Alan "Torture could be justified" Dershowitz

This guy is retarded, lets see what else google has on Dershowitz.
"I don't want to have a conversation even indirectly with Dershowitz," Carter said in Friday's [December 15, 2006] Boston Globe. "There is no need . . . to debate somebody who, in my opinion, knows nothing about the situation in Palestine."-Jimmy Carter.
http://edition.cnn.com/2003/LAW/03/03/cnna.Dershow ... for the torture comment. - monkeyrun, on 01/10/2009, -4/+62lol Share the land, it's easy for you to say. Look what happened to the native American.
- monkeyrun, on 01/10/2009, -20/+77http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Post
Since Israel Asper's acquisition of the National Post, the paper has become a strong voice in support of the state of Israel and its government. The Post was one of the few Canadian papers to offer unreserved support to Israel during its conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon during 2006. - kingUssop, on 01/10/2009, -37/+93Waahhh wahhh why is the media showing these people the Israeli army killed it's so unfair waah wahhh... these people are truly indoctrinated into something disconnected from reality.
- Kewlduderules, on 01/10/2009, -20/+75No!!!
- Ciryon, on 01/10/2009, -50/+100I'll tell you what I saw on the news today; A bunch of Sionists put up a camp on the boarder to Gaza to watch the bombing. They had food and a coffee machine. One of them told the reporter she wished the whole of Gaza was destroyed.
Also, "The Friends of Israel" group in Norway (a bunch of different religious groups) told another reporter that they did not trust the UN as a reliable source of news (about the bombing of the school). They only trusted the IDF. Israel is the land of God and all that ***** *****...
Come on!
Yes, there are idiots on both sides - but there can't be any doubt that the Sionazis are out to kill as many Civilians as possible. - Betrayal, on 01/10/2009, -31/+81Wow now we need to blame the media for showing deaths and injured innocent people?
Almost 1000 innocent dead and thousands of injured.
Way to go pro-Israel media, let's not show the truth because it might hurt Israels reputation and show they're war criminals. - tsalti, on 01/10/2009, -42/+91Incredibly biased article. Buried.
Quoted from a comment on the article.
"The idea that criticism of Israeli actions in this current "operation" is somehow an expression of support for Hamas, or terrorism is specious. Many of those protesting the flagrant brutality against, and "collective punishment" of innocent Palestinians dall over the world are Jews. This is a matter of humanity."
How in the world does an article like this make it to the front page when any story just covering the bombings struggles to make it to the front. - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -52/+98Yeah, Hamas has the budget for this and Israel does not. Tinfoil hat time again.
- yacinebouatrous, on 01/10/2009, -18/+62Here come the megaphonies along with their worthless propaganda
- MaTT2011, on 01/10/2009, -9/+50Whats with the "Know it all" and "Big man" comments?
If you want to talk about a mature subject BE mature. Use some god damn manners and maybe something productive might happen for once. - JohnReb, on 01/10/2009, -22/+61The Geneva Conventions say that the second choice is legally exactly the same as the first choice.
Hamas is guilty of using human shields. - t4h3r, on 01/10/2009, -25/+64Wow this article is so ***** biased. why would anyone post this... He needs to shut the ***** up along with CNN and all these other impartial news sources (that goes for you too MSNBC, FOX, Rupert Murdoch etc.) On another note, if Israel is so ethical and just, why arent they allowing any international journalists into the scene? Just face it, all you pro-Israelis are dead wrong so stop lying to yourself.
Also i love how dig only approves Zionist propaganda articles... haha
Buried. - nihil, on 01/10/2009, -29/+67guess Hamas should wise up and realize that firing rockets into Israel isn't a good idea. That is, if Hamas actually cared about Palestinian children.
- zalame, on 01/10/2009, -23/+60If you look at WWII:
Nazi Germany: 7,233,000 deaths (10.38% of population!)
US: 418,500 deaths. (0.32% of population)
I guess this must make the US the bad guys? - Skab, on 01/10/2009, -12/+49http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:West_Bank_%26_Ga ...
reason why palastininis are pissed. - JohnReb, on 01/10/2009, -11/+47The Geneva Conventions specifically say that civilian areas used bor military purposes lose their protevted status amd become legal military targets. Also the party that used them for military purposes is legally responsible for the deaths and injuries.
Hamas is, according to international law, guilty of all those civilian deaths. - wpi97, on 01/10/2009, -9/+44Pacific theater of WWII:
2 million Japanese killed.
100 thousand Americans killed.
Does the 20:1 kill ratio make the US the aggressor? Or does Japanese attack on Perl Harbor have anything to do with the issue? - Acqua206, on 01/10/2009, -23/+57Lol, this is hilarious. I have yet to see a major news network without a pro-Israeli touting specialist mentioning the casualties incurred on both sides. They fail to mention that its over 700 dead Palestinians to the 10 or so dead Israelis, just simply casualties sustained on both sides. Like its even a close call.

- Robzzz, on 01/10/2009, -26/+58Written by Alan M. Dershowitz
Did anyone think this was going to be anything other than propaganda?
I am on the fence in this conflict but the more I see these sorta articles, and the the frankly disgusting comments that accompany them I am starting to have more and more sympathy for the people of Gaza and even the members of Hamas.
There is this constant talk of the Zionist propaganda machine but in this case this article is, for me, detrimental to their cause.
Countering Propaganda with even more ludicrous propaganda that boarders on straight racism is not the way to win the neutral parties to your cause. Israel as the bastion of "Democracy" in the Middle East should be better than this. You don't win by sinking to the level of the "terrorists" you are fighting. - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -11/+43You see, the Zionists have this delightfully effective weapon in their arsenal. It's called The Dershowitz Strategy. And the Kristol Strategy. And the Krauthammer Strategy. And so on...
- r0g3r, on 01/10/2009, -26/+57Alan Dershowitz helped get OJ off. So he has a history of defending murderers. Just saying.
- xadious, on 01/10/2009, -22/+53Alan DershoTwit is a moron. These images of dying and injured children and women aren't being used for propaganda, THEY'RE ACTUALLY HAPPENING, hence they're being reported. Innocent civilians have been killed in their hundreds and at times, they've been intentionally targeted (UN building, the safehouse where over 100 where moved to by Israeli soldiers only to be bombed and have 30 dead, etc).
It's disgusting that idiots like Alan will ALWAYS defend Israel's actions no matter how disgusting and inhumane. Never once will they criticise them even though the people dying on the other side are just more human beings - not that people like Alan Dershowitz will ever see them as that.
If anything, ISRAEL uses propaganda way more than Palestinians. It even uses Youtube and Twitter and has spokespeople on the News ALL the time repeating the same pathetic excuses over and over and releasing false video footage that inevitably get proven to be false - for example them posting a video of Israeli warplanes apparently blowing up a truck transporting rockets - only to be proved in lots of detail including images of the incident close up, to be a truck carrying oxygen tanks. Lots of innocents died yet again of course. - michaelpinto, on 01/09/2009, -22/+51chicagojacobs: This has been going on for about 50 years — although it's not too different than the issues between India and Pakistan (which is a minority religious state). This isn't to say that the fighting is right — but to say that it's going to take a while to get things stable before you can even talk about peace...
- sgtbutterscotch, on 01/10/2009, -5/+34why are you so averse to replying correctly?
- sacs1800, on 01/10/2009, -15/+44I don't stand with Israel or Palestine. I support the innocent victims (a great majority of whom are poor Arabs) caught in the middle of a war they have no way to stop.
- EmailAddress, on 01/10/2009, -12/+40Is Alan M. Dershowitz saying it's okay to the killing/harming of Palestinian children?
- taicho, on 01/10/2009, -8/+35There is no way you can even attempt to compare the number of Israeli casualties to those of the Palestinians. Hamas = Small militia in a barely operational stretch of land, IDF = fully matured military controlled by an immature government with 21st century warfare technologies at their disposal i.e. fighter jets, drones, nuclear warheads (obviously they wouldn't ever use this, but it just emphasizes their capabilities) etc...
A brief history lesson will help you realize there is no way AT ALL this kind of operation will expunge an element like Hamas, only through building up the society and the welfare of its citizens and in turn eliminating the group's ability to recruit new bodies can you defeat them, and the Israeli government knows this. It doesn't take a conference room full of strategists to figure it out. This logic can be applied to any government that approaches a situation in the same way.
Because Israel is the dominant and TRULY more powerful force in the region they have the obligation, moral and ethical responsibility of being benevolent and handling this situation in a more non-violent and constructive manner, period. - Admonitor, on 01/10/2009, -16/+42Israelis need to realise that reporting what's happening in Gaza isn't antisemitism. Just because people are reporting that the IDF are killing Gazans (which is happening, right?) doesn't mean that the media is antisemitic. That term is bandied around far too much now and it's losing its meaning. Disagreeing with an Israeli, or reporting that Israelis may actually be killing people is not antisemitic, and neither is neutrality.
I appreciate that this article isn't calling anyone antisemitic, but it is funny that the Israelis think the only reason people can disagree with them is through Islamic manipulation of the media or antisemitism.
Why aren't the media reporting as much on rocket deaths? Because there really aren't any to report. - zalame, on 01/10/2009, -3/+28@pwdrskier: none of this blood-math makes sense. This is exactly why I quoted these numbers.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -4/+27When they find a cure for religion.
- JB420, on 01/10/2009, -23/+45Dooshowitz is a biased tool of epic proportions. nuff said
- D1Foley, on 01/10/2009, -16/+37When will people learn to stop seeing conflict as black and white and realize it's all shades of gray. Hamas isn't in the right, Israel isn't either, but that won't stop either side from claiming they are and that the other side is solely targeting civilians, and going on about atrocities, ect.
So take everything with a grain of salt, and relax, you don't live there. - pwdrskier, on 01/10/2009, -29/+50I wonder which side this guy is on.....
