- MichaelDW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They finaly let us in to the building late last night after they finished their federal investigation. They ruled the fire an accident that probaly started on the vacant side of the complex in the attic. We managed to grab a few melted tools , a bottle of freon ( that didn't explode somehow) and a toolbox that was my grandfathers with his name engraved in it that was smashed and charred severely. We had to camp out most of the night so thieves wouldn't loot all the copper , aluminum and steel. Today we managed to sift through alot of what used to be a brick wall to find a few small items like drill bit sets ( in metal cases ) floor jacks , and crowbars. There was one metal filing cabinent that saved some old documents from the first 5 years of the buisness from the fire. Still synged but ledgeable. We also found a few dearborn heater bricks that hadn't broke from all the rubble that crashed down on them. Basicaly the entire building is in about a foot of ash , although alot of it is from the roof that caved in. Any appliance parts that didn't get destroyed by the fire , were damaged from all the water used. We will be doing hourly checkups all night in shifts to make sure people aren't looting whatever they can find. I will try and remember to take a camera with me tommaro for some pictures to post. If someone hasn't seen what a fire can do first hand , you probaly wouldn't belive it.
