- grumpy1377, on 06/21/2009, -4/+57props to youtube for not deleting these videos
- BillE3, on 06/21/2009, -3/+46They need to overthrow the Ayatollah. He is the supreme leader that has made their lives and country as it is today. The Ayatollah is the one who determines the outcome of any political election. The Ayatollah is the one in charge of the religious police and the military.
- PArbo, on 06/21/2009, -3/+22People shouldn't be afraid of their governments; governments should be afraid of their people.
- jordanlgta, on 06/21/2009, -1/+15God bless the internet.
- green4iran, on 06/21/2009, -0/+14Guys! this is not people's. They do not burn or destroy public stuffs. These are regimes plain shirt's work. These real bastards are doing these to blame peaceful people for that and then hurt them or even kill them. I am Iran, Tehran and see them do this every day!
- xxacefirexx, on 06/21/2009, -2/+11The fact that it made the digg frontpage, as well as other news sources, is essential for a revolution. The attention is definitely necessary to incite outrage in people.
I understand it doesn't get anything accomplished directly, but the bus is a symbol of the establishment they're fighting against. Same reason the colonies dumped tea into the Atlantic in 1773. - funkgerm, on 06/21/2009, -0/+8Amazing footage... Kudos to YouTube for giving the Iranian people a means of communication.
- sedalati, on 06/21/2009, -0/+8Wow the beginning of the clip looks like it's right out of "Children of men"
clips like this need to get out, since the government has kicked all the international reporters out of the country. We need to see what's going on there. Thanks YouTube and Digg for keeping these online. - GEOFF361, on 06/21/2009, -1/+8i mentioned in another story; if we are honoring the Algiers Accords, the US cant actually get involved in any way
"it is and from now on will be the policy of the United States not to intervene, directly or indirectly, politically or militarily, in Iran's internal affairs."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algiers_Accords - graburn, on 06/21/2009, -0/+6Hmmm... I don't think Digg is censoring this.

- thomas11126, on 06/21/2009, -1/+6the first 30 or so seconds are like straight out of a movie
thats just amazing footage - applemaggot, on 06/21/2009, -0/+4What is he supposed to do? Wave his finger? Invade? Didn't he ask that Twitter hold off an update so that the Iranians could continue to Tweet?
- mparker21311, on 06/21/2009, -1/+5***** youtube, sure they didn't delete these videos. But they're certainly suspending all the atheists in the youtube community for no reason.
- Schmich, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3Ugh over 5mins was a bit long but I'm glad the people are filming.
- pinchduck, on 06/21/2009, -1/+4It was pretty touch & go, though. A theocracy was not a foregone conclusion of the previous revolution. Perhaps they've had enough of this *****.
- BillE3, on 06/22/2009, -0/+3Jimmie Carter was very instramental in deposing the Shah of Iran and bringing the Ayatollah out of exile living in France to the position of leadership in Iran. Jimmie also touted the Ayatollah as a great man and the best leader for Iran, destined to do great things for that nation.
- stalinkov, on 06/21/2009, -2/+5FREEDOM is taken by FORCE
- GEOFF361, on 06/21/2009, -3/+5I agree with you 100%. But I also think that the Ayatollah has acted as a bit of a buffer for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. If Ahmadinejad didnt have anyone to answer to; i think he would have acted on many of his wreckless and dangerous ambitions.
That said; i hope the entire Iranian regime is ousted; including Khamenei. - ChinaLumberjack, on 06/21/2009, -1/+3FYI furniture (especially couches or soft seats inside a bus) burn hot like hell
- frieddonuts, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2Anything he would say could damage the reputation of the protesters. There are already representatives of the Iranian government spreading misinformation on the internet, alleging that the entire movement is CIA engineered. If Obama gave official sanction for the protests it would only fuel these false rumors.
- damack, on 06/21/2009, -2/+4Actually they are deleting videos.
Late last night British Time there was a video of a police officer being shot in the chest but when i went back to look for it it was gone.
I hope that officer is ok if the police start getting killed it's obvious what the retaliation will be. - joshmoney, on 06/21/2009, -1/+3Please tell me that was a joke and that it's just going over everyone's head.
- Mathopolis, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2Smoke counters the effects of tear gas.
- KMartSheriff, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2Last time I checked Obama is in charge of the USA, not Iran. We invade, the world gets pissed. We mind our own business, the world gets pissed. Make up your ***** mind.
- ASFx, on 06/22/2009, -0/+1It's much easier to try and prove something when you take someone's words out of context then show them something completely unrelated isn't it?
- sulthernao, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1There's video evidence of the basiji destroying cars and other property. State media then sweeps in and says that it is the protesters doing it all.
- jordanlgta, on 06/21/2009, -1/+2Iranians shouting from the rooftops in protest:
http://digg.com/world_news/Iranians_SHOUTING_from_ ... - inactive, on 06/22/2009, -0/+1You would think a religious person, a leader would know that people are rioting because maybe GOD wanted them too? So why is he resisting? I doubt it would have anything to do with MONEY, PRIVILEGE and POWER now would it?
- dafragsta, on 06/21/2009, -1/+2They need to send in Randy "The Ram."
- sulthernao, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1Birdie, you clearly have no idea what the average Iranian thinks about the US. They already are airing footage of Fox News as propaganda in Iran. You want to add proof that the "EVIL ZIONIST AMERICA IS SUPPORTING A COUP"?
Get real. It's not going to help anyone. - MWeather, on 06/21/2009, -1/+2All people of faith place religion above the state.
- sulthernao, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1They're setting things on fire (in general, not perhaps in this video) to counteract the effects of tear gas.
- KMartSheriff, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1You give humans WAY too much credit. We are still a very primitive bunch, the only difference now is that we have big guns and technology to utilize.
- MidnightTide, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1ASFx, you are so naive. Freedom is not free, you have to fight for it...something young people nowadays have forgotten.
- fubar1367, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_cj9MEk16M
- Moralogic, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1I suspect there is much more to come. I saw over 10 people taking picture and/or video on there. So they are recording everything they can, which is great. I hope they keep recording all of it. One day, they will be able to put all of this footage together, and show their kids, grand kids, and ancestors for generations, this is how we earned our freedom, this is the world the Iranian people lived through, and it will be much like that program of pictures of areas put together to make walk through of different places, but Iran, with video and pictures of their fight for freedom. The great honor it will be for these people to be known as the recorders and participating members of this fight for freedom.
- enthreeoh, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1Nothing lasts forever.
- fufi74, on 06/21/2009, -1/+1I agree with ASFx, they claim to be peaceful protesters and victims yet they go around burning cars and buses and pretty much destroying the country. And people on DIGG are stupid enough to read a story like this and act as if the government is doing all of this.
- fufi74, on 06/22/2009, -0/+0Show me. I'm not challenging your opinion, if this is true i want to know, but lately everything has been one sided and there's been a lot of propaganda being spread, like old irrelevant videos surfacing with new titles. Everything seems to be too perfect in favor of the opposition, for example... it's like the woman who got shot, it's too convenient, it's perfect ammo for the protesters to use against their government and we don't know if the sniper was even with the basiji, all we have is a video title to go by. It doesn't make sense for them to shoot her of all people, they would've at least targeted the active protesters.
- nicktomyskins, on 06/21/2009, -1/+1nothin better than a little turmoil in the middle east
- fufi74, on 06/21/2009, -0/+0I don't get the joke, are you being sarcastic and complaining about the front page being loaded with stories about Iran? You should use the </sarcasm> tag
- fufi74, on 06/21/2009, -0/+0I agree with KMartSheriff, have we had a single year of peace throughout recorded history?
- fubar1367, on 06/21/2009, -1/+1Cool video on YouTube: Iran's Rage Against the Machine - Freedom (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_cj9MEk16M)
- Birdie1111, on 06/21/2009, -1/+1He is supposed to step up and make a Strong Statement . What do you think??. This is a stupid reply you gave about waving his finger, you must be a jerk
- doctorgrim, on 06/21/2009, -2/+2Oh the humanity!
- fufi74, on 06/21/2009, -1/+0"Son, 50 years ago, when i was in my 20s, i burned a bus, are you proud of me?"
