- Hobbes24, on 04/15/2009, -11/+124what a fantastic culture that should be treated with nothing but respect and love
- Dinsdale77, on 04/15/2009, -4/+81Three cheers for religious idiots. Life is a brief opportunity that only finds us once, and these ***** think nothing of snuffing it out.
- ethanator1088, on 04/15/2009, -8/+74You cantaloupe.
- stix213, on 04/15/2009, -4/+68Excellent parenting. This will teach those kids a valuable life lesson that will guide them through adulthood.... ohhh wait
- borez, on 04/15/2009, -0/+56Sooo: In your eyes... Capturing an eloping couple, returning them to their home and murdering them, by firing squad, in cold blood is better than letting them go off to spend a happy and fruitful life together. Seriously, your culture is ***** insane.
- GregLoire, on 04/15/2009, -0/+49Just because something is part of a culture does not mean that it is automatically worthy of respect from anyone.
- NorrisOBE, on 04/16/2009, -3/+49I'm a Muslim, and i have three things to say:
***** the Taliban. - yocouchdigga, on 04/15/2009, -19/+61Islam, the religion of peace.
- fotomatt, on 04/15/2009, -0/+36"...he thought the couple were intending to flee to Iran, where many young people from the region grew up as refugees, enjoying a relatively liberal environment before returning to their much more restrictive homeland."
How bad is it? The kids remember the "good old days" when they were refugees... in Iran. OMFG. - inactive, on 04/15/2009, -8/+41Islamic nutjobs.

- 471776, on 04/15/2009, -0/+21Respect is earned, not given. And so far these extremist fundamentalist inhuman ***** have shown me nothing but reasons to hate them.
- 471776, on 04/15/2009, -7/+27I don't care what religion you belong to, self-delusion is a very dangerous thing. ***** with people's minds makes them unstable. People will do anything if you can convince them that they are doing it for god. History has shown us that a thousand times over. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Pagans, Aztecs - doesn't matter what the belief is, religion makes people commit ***** insane atrocities that they would otherwise be horrified by - because religion gives people a way to rationalize *****.
Recently Islam seems to be at the forefront of ***** up *****, but don't act like other religions aren't as bad. The crusades, holocaust, everything down to the current bigoted attack on the rights of homosexuals - thousands of years of evidence shows us that all religion is good for is oppressing people. - yocouchdigga, on 04/15/2009, -0/+19you best be trollin', son.
- iDrifter, on 04/15/2009, -0/+17Respect for culture and respect for human rights are two different things. Give your head a shake.
- bpoteat, on 04/15/2009, -1/+18I would say that's the pretty much the opposite of lawless.
- ASfinkterSezWut, on 04/15/2009, -7/+23Religion of PEACE Stikes again!
Cue the apologists to attack you as a racist in 3...2...1... - poidh, on 04/15/2009, -3/+19All cultures are equal!!!
j/k - howclever, on 04/16/2009, -2/+17As an Atheist, I think you guys are all silly. But thanks for trying to be good people.
- Cepharos, on 04/16/2009, -2/+15This is no religion of peace. This is a disease.
- benologist, on 04/15/2009, -2/+15You blanket it all under religion but the reality is people will do horribly ***** for any reason. Religion can be a reason, so can having a ***** day, not liking your boss, getting bullied by your classmates or any of the other billion reasons people have needlessly died for.
Look at the attrocities in Africa - far, far worse than Afghanistan and anything we can even comprehend in our sheltered lives. What religion is to blame when a soldier rapes a child, then sticks his gun up her pussy, shoots her, then moves onto the rest of her family?
People are to blame. Religion doesn't *make* anyone do ***** it's just an excuse vile people might use to justify their actions even when their actions are contrary to how the majority of people in their religion live their lives.
The Taliban does some truly ***** things, especially to women, but blaming Muslims for how the Taliban *choose* to oppress and control people is like blaming the Holocaust on Christianity. - Sikarian, on 04/16/2009, -7/+18I've said it before and I'll say it again.
RELIGION OF PEACE. - dieboldcracy, on 04/15/2009, -2/+12how....... Shakespearian
- maz2331, on 04/16/2009, -1/+11Can we pull our troops out yet?
THEN we can take off and nuke the whole place from orbit - it's the only way to be sure.
Or, pull out and let them kill each other, I don't really care.
BUT - if we pull out and another Afghani attacks the USA, we nuke from orbit.
Immediately. - GMirza, on 04/15/2009, -4/+14If anyone wants to learn before making baseless comments, I suggest Karen Armstrong's books. (She is a famous TED Speaker and Historian)
_______________
Kudos to those who blame Islam... without knowing that all the real scholars of Islam reject the ideologies of the Taliban and all their laws. /sarcasm It's sad to see that people would want to pull out of Afghanistan due to this event when in fact Taliban groups are being combated. There are other reasons to pull out, letting the Taliban continue their disgusting laws is not one of them.
The Taliban wouldn't even know what Islam is even if it hit them. Even the Saudi monarchy puts so much Saudi culture (not allowing women to drive? Extreme Segregation) that people think that Saudi laws are Islam.
Whether you believe in god or you don't it's just horrible to see Islam or any group attacked on the basis these radical notions which are not even in Islam or any right minded organization. - bolomkxxviii, on 04/15/2009, -2/+11Gee, they wanted to get married. How horrible. We must kill them to make them an example to others. I get the "warm fuzzies" all over thinking about the residents of that town. How about a nice daisy cutter?
- melikbilge, on 04/16/2009, -2/+11As a Muslim, I support NorrisOBE.
- Midtowner, on 04/16/2009, -1/+9This has nothing to do with Islam. This has to do with religious extremism. Christianity and Judaism (and whatever else) have long histories of doing effed up things in the name of their God.
- faskippy, on 04/16/2009, -0/+8This made me think of a show I saw the other day on the history channel, where people in France starved to death by the thousands, because they thought potatoes were evil. Even though they had been brought over by explorers, and were shown that they were fine, the Catholic Church denounced them, and said eating them was a sin. It took many many years for them to become enlightened about something as simple as a damn potato. I don't mean to bash anyone's religion here, I'm a Christian, though probably not a great one, (I'm sure not everyone was catholic, or even religious, after all), I'm just stating this to say that that happened in the not so distant past.
These people in Afghanistan and similar areas are sooo far behind they are still doing this kind of crap, and many have no desire to give it up. And we are over there trying to influence change, and are being met with resistance by those very same people we WISH would do the changing. How long do you think this will take? I say many hundreds of years. That means we are entangled in something that WE will never (most likely) be free of, or stop paying for. I don't like those odds. I don't think we can afford it, and I don't think it's our call. They must rise up and change things for themselves if they want it. - Frumbler, on 04/15/2009, -0/+8The parents agreed to have them tried by the Taliban, not killed, but you got to be pretty stupid not to realize that just about any trial by Taliban will end in death.
You have a good point, the Taliban are denying the story...... which is rare, they are usually proud of this kind of crap. - Paranor01, on 04/15/2009, -2/+10Liberals say that any religion is not bad, just the fanatical interpretations are. Just with any religion, there are the good sides, and the bad sides. Even Christianity has them.
- satori3000, on 04/15/2009, -1/+9our troops aren't trying to help these people, our troops are trying to help the people that these people intend to rule over. More to the point they are trying to make sure that the people that end up being ruled over don't get turned into jihadists that will simply be sent back against us. Afghanistan isn't Iraq, it was built up out of the ashes of the Soviet occupation to produce Jihadists to keep Afghan pure and to fight anyone that doesn't believe in the Taliban's brand of the Koran which is a pretty scary set of beliefs and not the peaceful Islam that many Muslims preach.
- fleischner, on 04/15/2009, -2/+10Yeah, we hear about that ALL the time. And when we do, they always say, "Yeah, we TRIED to kill them."
Equivocate much? - emt1451, on 04/15/2009, -6/+14Are you really that idiotic?
- theg90, on 04/16/2009, -1/+8As a Catholic, I support this statement.
- MisterRik, on 04/15/2009, -2/+9Fear and guns - the things that keep these men in power.
- KerrSG1, on 04/15/2009, -4/+11Why should we respect people who are nothing more than pigs in turbans?
- xployt, on 04/16/2009, -1/+8feel free to look up the definition of conservative...
stuff like that will save you from looking like an idiot later in life. - MooNinja, on 04/15/2009, -6/+13Iran, Iran so far away. Couldn't get away..........
- bigtotoro, on 04/15/2009, -7/+14Honestly, who cares? It's Afghanistan. It is not the civilized world or anything.
- faskippy, on 04/16/2009, -0/+7Nice parents. And these are the types of people we are supposed to be bringing democracy to? This may take a while...
- faskippy, on 04/16/2009, -2/+9Yeah, ask the U.K. about how their "culture enrichment" is going. Hell, just look at the stats.
- manstein01, on 04/15/2009, -1/+8Oh look, the moral equivalence/bash US brigade has shown up.

- wonkavsn, on 04/16/2009, -0/+5Study biology.
Please. - yan89, on 04/16/2009, -5/+10Great how in Islam parents find ways to express their love for their children: hand them over to some religious extremists=killers. And yet some people in America seem to believe, that Muslims are a great enrichment for our culture....way to go!
