- purplemonkey87, on 04/13/2008, -0/+58I used to watch smART as a kid, he was a great presenter. RIP Mark.
- fullstop102, on 04/13/2008, -2/+50So Sad to hear. Only this morning I was hoping he would turn up. Rest In Peace Mark.
- Kerch, on 04/13/2008, -1/+38He was my favourite SMart presenter. An antidote to Kirsten O'Brien's annoyingness.
- luke16, on 04/13/2008, -1/+30Same, he taught me how to draw cartoon lions. im serious too
- Philosomatika, on 04/13/2008, -1/+29RIP Mark

- KyleCD, on 04/13/2008, -0/+26Man i used to love watching him on smART, even though i was no good at art atall! He was a brilliant children's presenter always full of life and extremely entertaining! Excellent children's presenter!
Im actually much sadder than i would be as i have watched him for years and enjoyed his presenting so much!
R.I.P Mark. - D3koy, on 04/14/2008, -0/+24It's so odd that an entire nation can be so greatly moved by a single man, yet 3000 miles away we've never even heard of him...I'll assume he was like British Mr Rogers, and send my condolences, perhaps more like Bill Nye - science + art
- AlMightyBob90, on 04/13/2008, -0/+22Then your useless comment isn't needed here.
Have some respect. - whistlerpro, on 04/13/2008, -0/+22Oh no. :(
- sockpuppets, on 04/13/2008, -13/+34"Officers are treating the death as "unexplained" but have confirmed that the man had not been hit by a train."
Officers added that the body wasn't molested by pandas, nor covered in gummy bears. They did not find it propped up in a happy pose and noted his ears were not nibbled by lawn gnomes. - DaviDaviDaviD, on 04/13/2008, -1/+22This is devastating news. He used to be so full of life when I used to watch him :(
RIP. - WheresWallE, on 04/13/2008, -4/+23*****.
- unitedkronos, on 04/13/2008, -0/+18He did a children's art thing in my home city a few months ago, I wish I had the chance to meet him back then, he'll be dearly missed.
- ososment, on 04/13/2008, -0/+18what a great pity. Top man Mark, sorry to see you go in such sad circumstances.
- Wang, on 04/13/2008, -2/+20Have some respect. Reported as offensive.
- tidu, on 04/14/2008, -0/+18Although I thought you comment was funny, they found his body near Paddington Station, which explains the "not hit by a train" thing.
- ymhr, on 04/13/2008, -0/+17It's a shame, he had such an artistic talent too.
- Hefelumpman, on 04/13/2008, -2/+19This is not the place for comments like that.
- WheresWallE, on 04/13/2008, -1/+17Then dont comment?
- Shadow120, on 04/13/2008, -1/+16It's weird.. Thinking back in the mindframe I would have been in at the age I watched the show, it's errie thinking he would die.. You don't expect TV presenters to die!
- matthewjhughes, on 04/13/2008, -2/+17He had a huge cultural impact. British kids grew up with him. He never aged.
RIP Mark. - ByteGuerilla, on 04/14/2008, -0/+14In the words of Michael Bolton, "No way why should we have to change?"
I think not assuming every piece of news is U.S. news would be a better way than mandating that submitters tag a country to every non-U.S. story. - ByteGuerilla, on 04/13/2008, -3/+17It's always pretty sad when you hear about someone dying, but when it's someone who you grew up watching on TV, it's all the more sad. I'm concerned that his family wasn't keeping close enough watch over him to allow this to happen, given that they themselves said they were worried about his 'fragile state of mind' due to the recent events in his life.
- piesforyou, on 04/13/2008, -5/+19you need help.
- WheresWallE, on 04/13/2008, -1/+15Tragic. I remember him well from my younger days, RIP.
- AlMightyBob90, on 04/14/2008, -0/+13You don't need to feel sorry, you just need to stay out of what doesn't concern you. If you don't know him, go away.
- WheresWallE, on 04/14/2008, -0/+13I couldnt believe he was 42, he seemed so much younger. He had the energy and enthusiasm many a 20 year old would love to have.
- inactive, on 04/14/2008, -1/+14grow up you childish little snoid
- OMGAero, on 04/13/2008, -1/+13Rest in Peace Mark Speight
- sockpuppets, on 04/13/2008, -3/+15I laughed in speight of it being inappropriate.
- PolarBearCa, on 04/14/2008, -1/+13A tragic conclusion to a very sad series of events.
For those of you who don't know, he is a British children's program host, well known to British kids. Apparently he had some issues with drugs. He had a fiancée who was also his former co-host, and after a night of "partying" she was found scalded to death in their bathtub. Speight was arrested and charged but the charges were dropped when the coroner concluded that her case was "Death by Misdaventure" due in part to her own drug use.
He had spiralled down ever since, quitting his job and having problems coping with things. He inexplicably disappeared last week after getting on a train on a way to a meeting.
And sadly, now they found him. - gerjomarty, on 04/14/2008, -0/+11Couldn't believe this news. He was such a good TV presenter, and he worked really well with the other two on SMart. I just can't believe he's dead. I could have swore he was in his thirties at most, too. I never expected that he'd be 42 by now.
- Eryin, on 04/14/2008, -1/+12He taught me the basic concept of cubes.
Without him i would have never understood life. - Duggan360, on 04/13/2008, -0/+11Aww no i was expecting this :( Loved watching SMart
- sockpuppets, on 04/14/2008, -2/+13Sadly the bear named after reacharound station didn't fare so well.
Get it? Fare?
Be here all the night. Tip your waitresses! - Myonosken, on 04/14/2008, -0/+10No he wouldn't because I had no bearing on my life. He, however, was a figure I recognise therefore I have respect for him.
PS: ***** you. - WheresWallE, on 04/13/2008, -1/+11You're obviously not British. If you were, you'd know.
- AlMightyBob90, on 04/14/2008, -0/+9Why should anyone care? Because he was a fun guy who entertained many children.
Can we not feel sad over someone who gave us many hours of enjoyment simply because we didn't know him personally? - lovecss, on 04/13/2008, -1/+10Rest in peace, Mark; you captured the nation with your wit and charm.
- Hefelumpman, on 04/13/2008, -2/+10RIP Mark - I saw him randomly on Tottenham Court Road randomly last year
So sad to see him gone :( - theright, on 04/13/2008, -0/+8http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Speight
- inactive, on 04/14/2008, -2/+10he must have really loved her. She was very beautiful, poor guy just knew he'd never meet anyone else like her
so sad - xaeon, on 04/14/2008, -1/+8Body fat analysis confirmed he's not American.
- matthewjhughes, on 04/14/2008, -0/+7I honestly thought he was in his late 20's.
- nursenormski, on 04/14/2008, -0/+7Have been hoping for the last few days that he would turn up safe.Although I didn't know him . my kids have watched SMart for a while and he seemed like a likable sort of guy. I feel so sorry for his family and Natasha's. What a waste of a talented life!!!! God bless. RIP !!!
- MrLlama, on 04/14/2008, -0/+7You sir, are an obnoxious retard. If you have nothing good to contribute to this news story then GTFO.

- Myonosken, on 04/14/2008, -0/+7*****, did you ever read Paddington books? He was named after the station.
