- EricAnderton, on 03/09/2009, -0/+144Surveor: "What do you think of the woman in this photograph?"
Random Person: "Oh, I'd definitely hit that." - HurricaneDC, on 03/09/2009, -13/+144Woman-beaters should be jailed for a long, long ***** time. It's one thing if a woman attacks you, but often domestic abuse is just a pathetic excuse for life trying to feel strong and in control by terrorizing and hurting a person who is usually weaker than him.
- jeremyduffy, on 03/09/2009, -5/+126Or... One in seven people are morons. Where did they do this survey?
- banderwocky, on 03/09/2009, -9/+106WTF? Seriously people, just put the 'stupid' down and walk away from it.
- HurricaneDC, on 03/09/2009, -3/+96lol? There's tons of domestic abuse in the US dude.
- JesusHimself, on 03/09/2009, -8/+97My stance is this: If you wear reveling clothes in public, don't bitch and moan if guys are pointing, staring, or hitting on you. You decided to dress like that, take the criticism that comes with it. Hitting is over the line, however
- inactive, on 03/09/2009, -45/+108I guess 1 in 7 men are Muslim in the UK.
- GrammerPants, on 03/09/2009, -4/+59Anyone who abuses their partner should be jailed for a long time. Even a woman. Most abusive relationships are mutual (though it isn't often publicly admitted).
- a117, on 03/09/2009, -5/+59The sad thing is that most women are attracted to those one in seven.
- haikuFU, on 03/09/2009, -1/+50My buddy's ex-wife used to beat the ***** out of him on a regular basis. He's still in counseling for it, and the law did nothing to make it stop. When he finally divorced her, she took the kids and half his *****. The court threw out all of the domestic abuse stuff because he was twice her size and they wouldn't believe that it happened, even though there were documented police reports, and testimony from his shrink.
We're not talking just a little slap here an there, but full on "You're a ***** loser" and then an ass-whooping style beatdown. He was twice the size of her though, and never did anything to protect himself or restrain her. Nicest guy I've ever met, but that was his downfall. - sjbdallas, on 03/09/2009, -0/+48Maybe they misunderstood the question.
- TsuruchiBrian, on 03/09/2009, -0/+38It is never OK to hit another human being except under the following circumstances and possibly a few more:
1. Self defense. The person is physically assaulting you or in someway immediately endangering your life or health.
2. The person has entered into a verbal or written contract allowing and/or requiring you to hit them. Like in an official boxing or MMA fight or if you and your partner just like violence.
3. On accident. If you hit a person completely accidentally without doing anything that is considered negligent, it should be completely forgivable.
4. If it is somehow for their own good. This is getting a bit abstract, but I can see maybe needing to render someone unconscious in a disaster situation where their hysteria is detrimental to others or themselves. In that case a good punch to the jaw is an act of love and mercy. - HabsChick, on 03/09/2009, -5/+43wow, these are really scary numbers. Unbelievable that people still think this is acceptable
- moirende, on 03/09/2009, -2/+37One in seven people should also be smacked upside the head for being spectacular idiots. Coincidentally, the two groups overlap 100%.
If further re-education is required, they could be forced to sit in a room and watch "Hannah Montana" until their brains burst. - sugarazor, on 03/09/2009, -1/+35Digg.com
- wolferz, on 03/09/2009, -5/+37...and the woman isn't always physically abusive.
People see women as weak and fragile... but emotionally men tend to be more fragile than women. Emotional abuse to a man is not at all unlike physical abuse toward women... both are a case of the strong beating up on the weak. - inactive, on 03/09/2009, -2/+32I don't know why you're getting Dugg down. Members of Digg seemed to be perfectly fine with this guy getting set on fire:
http://digg.com/people/Mother_Sets_Fire_To_Man_Who ...
Fact is, there are certain times where a person--male or female--DOES deserve to get their ass kicked. And other circumstances still where a person deserves much worse than that.
There are some pretty heinous people out there. Saying "No one ever deserves to be hit, ever!" is just being naive. - bjs3171, on 03/09/2009, -12/+42Can't really agree with the second part of that. Some people really do need a decent beating.
- theSAMOL, on 03/09/2009, -3/+32If the bitch is coming at me with a knife or intent to do serious harm, she's going to be put into the ground or wall or whatever is handy, sorry.
Chivalry only goes so far, once my life is in danger, the gloves come off. Goes for any guys too. - ddawggin, on 03/09/2009, -1/+29Had an (now) ex punch me in the face in front of a cop one time. He asked her if she was alright... :(
- kalvinb, on 03/09/2009, -6/+34Excuses are made for women. That's the difference. Believe it or not there are actually posters about men being controlling by preventing women from hanging out with their friends. Raise your hand if your gf ever told you not to hang out with a guy friend they didn't like. Raise your hand if you ever told your gf not to hang out with a girlfriend of theirs you didn't like. Raise your hand if you ever denied your sig other sex or any affection because they did something you didn't like. Raise your hand if your sig other denied you sex or any affection because you did something they didn't like.
Yeah, exactly. That's abuse and for women it's a-okay.
If a woman is physically abusive the natural reaction is for a man to treat the women like he would any guy (since that's what she's acting like) and defend himself in some way. However, even pushing her away or restraining her will get you at least a night in jail. You don't have to attack her to end up in jail if you have a penis. She'll probably need to give you a black eye before they arrest her. And even then the cops will give you the nth degree to see if you deserved it.
If she managed to cause an injury to you (or damaged property in some way) don't move a muscle except to call the cops to have her removed by them. If she prevents you from calling the police that's another reason for them to arrest her. If you're dating, get rid of her. If you're married, divorce her. Until she owns up to her problem and goes to counseling don't even consider taking her back.
Guys for the most part are "Mr Fix-Its" and "tough guys" who don't want to admit they have an abusive sig other or that they can't manage the situation. It's also possible that they blame themselves and think they need to change.
A woman who is controlling or abusive can't be fixed except with long term professional help. And even then you may just have to keep away. - harazek, on 03/10/2009, -5/+31I am a British Muslim. I cannot believe how Digg can be so abrupt to stereotype everything to certain races and religions.
You can bury me as deep as you want, but the amount of diggs piper999 received just proves this.
I find wife beating despicable. So ***** off (Every Offense Intended). - ogletree, on 03/09/2009, -2/+28One in seven of people asked had no girlfriend.
- Persian5Life, on 03/09/2009, -21/+47it is never OK to hit a women, or another human being.
- Kahnza, on 03/09/2009, -3/+29IMO the only time it is ok to hit a women, and not excessively, is if she attacks you first and hits more than 2 times. Also depends on if its just shoving, slapping with an open hand, or using a closed fist. If shes shoving, brace yourself and don't allow yourself to get pushed around the room, without hurting her if possible. If she is slapping, attempt to block the incoming slaps and deflect her arm(s) downward. If she is landing punches, attack back. But only enough to subdue her, try using grappling and submission moves. Try not to do any damage, not even bruises if it can be helped.
And if she physically attacks you, its probably time to end the relationship. Who knows what the crazy might attempt next. - NJSlacker, on 03/09/2009, -0/+25"Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, said: “Violence against women and girls is unacceptable in any form no matter what the circumstances are.”
Ms Smith said that more needed to be done to challenge attitudes that condoned violence against women and girls."
I agree with your statement HurricaneDC, and yours too GrammerPants, but I'll take it another step in the name of sex/gender equality. How about "Violence... is unacceptable in any form no matter what the circumstances are." - dtr300, on 03/09/2009, -4/+26I personally know someone who shot and killed the boyfriend who was abusing her. It happened years ago, and she still regrets it and will be in pain over it for the rest of her life. Guns are not the only answer. It's better to get out of the abusive relationship, leave, get far away, and never look back. NO ONE is worth taking abuse from, whether verbal or physical.
- anixmander, on 03/09/2009, -0/+22Okay, that made me laugh.
- inactive, on 03/09/2009, -7/+27sure, try and hit my girl for wearing sexy clothing..you would be able to count on one hand, the seconds you have left to live.
- piper999, on 03/09/2009, -23/+43How many people in the UK are Muslims? One in seven by any chance? (Every offense intended).
- inactive, on 03/09/2009, -4/+24why
do
you
have to
take up some much ***** space? - Gareshra, on 03/10/2009, -1/+20That's because feminists and the public opinion have been mutated. Somewhere along the way of pushing for women's rights and equality, they changed the goal. Instead of just settling for equality, they tried to have it both ways. Women are equal to men and deserve equal rights, yet women are weaker than men and must be protected from evil men. These two ideas are completely contradictory, but BOTH are used now, often without any real intentions to do so by people. It's just accepted now. They got women's equality, but forgot to overturn the perspective of women being weaker. Because of that, women can emotionally abuse men, and they won't get punished. During a divorce, the woman gets all the money. A woman can beat the ***** out of a man, and get away with it, but if a man slips up once he's completely *****.
Frankly, I'm tired of this "protect women" misconception we have. How about we start protecting everyone? How about we give equality? How about we punish men AND women who abuse their partners. How about we stop looking at one thing and look at the big picture. Women have too much power when it comes to divorce and domestic abuse, yet men are completely invulnerable when it comes to most sexual assault charges(most real sex offenders get off scott free due to the problems with evidence).
***** men who think women deserve to be hit.
***** women who manipulate and control men.
Basically, ***** anyone of any gender who abuses the system to hurt those other than themselves. - inactive, on 03/09/2009, -8/+26You may not be a whore... but you are wearing a whore's uniform, ma'am.
- B3Nji, on 03/09/2009, -2/+191 in 7? So thats what... about 14% of people are stupid fools? Whats new about that? People cant expect everybody to be decent human beings. Unfortunately there is always going to be the odd retarded oxygen thief hanging about!
- magamiako, on 03/09/2009, -4/+21jukebox:
Why wear sexy, revealing clothing if one does not want the attention?
Welcome to mating. Woman wears revealing clothing to attract men. Men come to woman and try to sway her. - angusm, on 03/09/2009, -2/+19In other news, scientists reported that a little more than 14% of the population hadn't yet noticed that it was the twenty-first century, and appeared to imagine that they were still living in the twelfth.
- SifuMoKung, on 03/09/2009, -2/+19What if my pot-pie is cold?
- EmperorChow, on 03/09/2009, -3/+19Chris Brown
- SifuMoKung, on 03/09/2009, -2/+18Easy for you to say. Imagine coming home, expecting a delicious turkey pot pie, and she serves you beef. What the hell? It's like she's begging me to hit her.
- norman619, on 03/09/2009, -0/+16Lethal force is ALWAYS the option of last resort. Sadly reporting these scum to the police doesn't do a whole lot.
- reefsurfer226, on 03/09/2009, -1/+16you hit me first and i am going to hit you back
- fasda, on 03/09/2009, -2/+17The UK is 93% white including the Irish and other foreigners so unless they surveyed in an area with a large immigrant population not ***** likely.
- cambob76, on 03/09/2009, -0/+15Did Chris Brown take this survey too literally?
- inactive, on 03/09/2009, -2/+16These sorts of straw polls are truly the lowest rung on the sewer access-ladder that is journalism. 7 out of 10 people believe such-and-such? So ***** what.
- Otto, on 03/09/2009, -4/+18Sorry, but no. I agree with the general premise that you should not hit a woman unless she hits you first, but I agree with that principle for a man as well. Nothing special there. What I'm not going for is the "twice" rule or the "attempt to block" and "grapple" nonsense.
When attacked, I fight back, and I'm a mean damn dirty fighter because I don't want to be fighting in the first place. The only goal is to end the fight as quickly as possible by putting the other person down. Any means to achieve that goal is acceptable. So if somebody hits me, then they'll quickly find themselves on the ground and unconscious, and I don't care what gender they are.
Women can fight as well as any man can, and should be treated as such. People are people. That's what "equality" really means. Anything else is *****. - inactive, on 03/09/2009, -2/+16I totally agree with you there, wolferz, and I wish more people would be willing to talk about it. Not to discount the danger of physical abuse, but emotional abuse can be just as damaging. Heh, I remember I took a developmental psychology course back in college, and we learned about bullying differences between boys and girls, how boys tend to bully physically whereas girls tend to bully emotionally. I remember thinking how glad I was to be a boy, because growing up, sure, I had my share of bullying, but when it's all put in perspective - all I ever had to deal with were a few bruises here and there at most. It's easy to shake those off, but some of the ways in which girls psychologically bully... It was just downright scary.
Once again, just to clarify, I'm not trying to minimize the dangers of physical abuse here or anything. - ThePastafarian, on 03/10/2009, -0/+14@Spritom:
Unless they're amputees, all of them. - ghostlywind, on 03/09/2009, -10/+23The only women that should be punished for wearing revealing clothes are obese women who wear skin tight clothing that reveal their extra curves. One time at work a women that had to weigh 250 pounds was wearing capris and it was riding all the way up her ass crack,it was the worst thing ever. They should be ticketed for causing mental scaring.
- Davethe3rd, on 03/09/2009, -2/+15Talk about different cultures... I guess the limeys like beating their old ladies. Come on over to the States, love. We know how to treat women.
