International bloggers are preparing an action to support the peaceful revolution in Burma. We want to set a sign for freedom and show our sympathy for these people who are fighting their cruel regime without weapons. These Bloggers are planning to refrain from posting to their blogs on October 4 and just put up one Banner then, underlined with the words „Free Burma!“.
More info / links to banners in various languages here: http://freeburma.stots.de/doku.php

- SiNN4R, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Ron Paul shall descend from the heavens and protect the people of Burma with his many talents and powers. He is the very personification of love. He will protect us from these troubling times. Ron Paul is the next messiah. All hail Ron Paul! In the book of Ron Paul he teaches us love. He teaches us to respect one another. Ron Paul is our dear leader and we shall not falter in our obedience. All hail Ron Paul our glorious leader. We shall overcome those that wish to decieve. Those that wish to bury Ron Paul's message of peace.

- uncleosbert, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0doubtful. however, the word "support" you use is weird. i think this is a genuine way to support any action for the burmese. how would i support military action from the un? write a blog post about it? write them a letter?

- DesertDude, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1It's good to try, but in the end it's futile. Since man existed, the majority of government systems have been a minority of tyrants and their cronies controlling the people. Democracy is very rare throughout. Families, monrachies and ideologies, they reign supreme. The people can try to have their say in the government, but more often than not, they will fail.
- Dankoozy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I have a password protected php-proxy i can let these bloggers use in case they need it to get 'round filters. i sent one of them the link but thats really all I can do to help the poor bastards.
these 'junta' guys arent going to go away over night. it would be nice if the international blogging community could pick up their real life BFG10K's and fly over to burma to blow em to shreds but realistically i doubt these thugs are going to give in no matter how many bloggers highlight the issue. sanctions will only isolate them further and give the junta guys more power. look what happened to north korea - the sanctions arent doing much to kill off the much hated Kim Jong-il regime - Bruny, on 03/26/2008, -0/+0Burma is free... http://needfornews.com/search_feeds.php?q=burma by http://needfornews.com/top_search.php

Despite human right abuses and an extremely harsh penal system, that had evolved over four decades starting with the military coup of March 2, 1962-( ACTUALLY the penal was left behind the coloniser English) - the current regime is moving Burma in the right direction. The colonial era had left behind the conditions that almost destroyed Burma as a state soon after independence. Objectively speaking, the Burmese army had saved Burma. The conditions of independence imposed on Burma in the form of Panglong Agreement were the roots of today's problems. Further, during the colonial era, Burmese society was not allowed to develop intellectually, being treated as third class citizens in their own country. The result was the development of slave mentality and inferiority complex amongst today democracy activists. They look up to UN, US, UK, EU , AUSTRALIA and JAPAN to solve Burma's problems instead of developing intellect, patriotism and capabilities to deal with the differences in harmonious way and to develop the nation. Many had lost self respect and consequently become incapable of knowing whom to respect or emulate. The case in point is the acceptance of a Burmese woman, daughter of Burma's revered and assassinated hero General AungSan, as paragon of virtue, without considering if she had indeed devoted herself to the good of Burmese people prior to the uprisings of 1988; they completely fail to understand that she is an opportunist through and through. As a matter of fact she is extremely ambitious and determined to humiliate her brother AungSanOo, true inheritor of AungSan legacy, because he disowned her as his sister when she married an Englishman called Michael Aris. To AungSanOo and many Burmese patriots it was the height of treason. Logically it is true because their father was assassinated by the hidden hands of English sympathisers of the Karen rebels, who were mostly Christian and had fought on the British side against the Japanese. Given the modern history of Burma under the English, it is unbelievable that SuuKyi married an Englishman and took advantage of and abused her father's name in Burma, whereas she was a MRS. MICHAEL ARIS in Oxford, where she lived as a mere housewife. Freedom and democracy will certainly haunt her and put her back where she belongs - a housewife. But she is still dreaming of becoming Burma top politician, Prime Minister of Burma. She could, but she will end in disgrace because there are many problems pertaining to the survival of the state of Burma waiting. She doesn’t know that the support she had enjoyed was manufactured by the English remnant and neo-colonialists with the help of BBC and all mainstream television channels and printed media; their power propelled Mrs. Michael Aris to the stratosphere of fame. Now she is a celebrity, feted by Western diplomats, who have no interest in or understanding of Burma’s proud history and culture. Indeed Mrs. Aris is the real obstacle to Burma’s progress; without her Burma would have achieved freedom and democracy, and possibly economic growth, being governed by learned men and women, who had been marginalised for the sake of ONE woman; to the English manipulator Burma is all about her, which is utter nonsense; Burma is about all Burmese people, about the state and society. What is so astounding is that the so-called democracy activists take the Panglong agreement and the 1947 constitution as the only legitimate principle or foundation of government of Burma. They cannot understand that constitutions evolve keeping pace with the times. Most seriously, they fail to understand that the Panglong was the time bomb that the coloniser left behind and exploded in Burma’s face, in 1947, even before independence was formally granted on January 4, 1948. To think that Panglong must be enforced is synonymous with endorsing colonialism, in other words conferring the English coloniser the right to colonise Burma and subjugate the Burmese. The military simply CANNOT afford to go back to the barracks leaving the inexperienced and poorly educated politicians in charge. Burmese people need to realise this for their own good, for their own future. First and foremost, ditch the Panglong agreement and the 1947 constitution into dustbin! WE ARE NOT AFRAID TO FACE UP TO THE TRUTH AND FACE DOWN ON NEO-COLONIALISTS. This message has nothing to do with the military junta. We are not its stooges. We are independent thinkers. We dislike what is happening in Burma as much as you all readers do. We hope you do understand. - Burmesepatriots, on 11/05/2009, -0/+0Despite human right abuses and an extremely harsh penal system, that had evolved over four decades starting with the military coup of March 2, 1962-( ACTUALLY the penal was left behind the coloniser English) - the current regime is moving Burma in the right direction.
