bloomberg.com — June 17 (Bloomberg) -- It’s a plot better suited for a John Le Carre novel. Two Japanese men are detained in Italy after allegedly attempting to take $134 billion worth of U.S. bonds over the border into Switzerland. Details are maddeningly sketchy, so naturally the global rumor mill is kicking into high gear. Are these would-be smugglers agents..

    And the US doesn't issue bearer-bonds so it doesn't even matter whose possession these were in.....so why were they smuggling them?

  • bobsearle, on 06/19/2009, -0/+3Bernanke et. al. are doing the exact same thing, printing fake money at the tune of $104 billion for the latest auction, so what difference would 134 bil make? Until we have no FED and are backed by Gold again we will have no hope.

They have a slobbering love affair with Obama and you and I will get the bill for the damages rendered.Anybody still think this is "Change we can believe in"? Getting American Bonds out of America and to where they are going to be safer, hmmmm.
