- Azselendor, on 12/31/2008, -0/+24When the hell did they get a president?
- MiniCooper2007, on 12/31/2008, -1/+14Not like he had a whole lot of power with all the anarchy in that country.
- DJMattB241, on 12/31/2008, -1/+11Somalia is reacting to freedom from government the same way that a crackhead would react to a sudden freedom from crack.
Somalia's government was violently ended. They're in a (completely understandable) tailspin over it. Any anarchist or libertarian that thinks that we should shut off government like some sort of light switch hasn't thought it through. If we evolve out of it, it can be done. If we just stop it point blank, we get Somalia. - inactive, on 12/31/2008, -1/+8All that guy did was jet over to the UN every now and complain, while his "presidency" ruled a few city blocks, not many in Somalia would care if he goes, they will still be living the same life in a completely messed up country. He cant stop the pirates or the Islamic fighters in his own backyard, or feed his people or stop the war, so he ***** fails anyway. Better someone with iron clad balls gets the job next time.
"The UN has rejected calls to send its own mission to Somalia."
heh. Pathetic. The UN are a bunch of pussies anyway. Smurfs cant fight for *****. (the blue helmets if you missed it) - inactive, on 12/30/2008, -1/+7Getting out before the ***** storm..
- Plasmatica, on 12/31/2008, -0/+6Somalia had a president? Wow. That must have been the easiest job ever.
- dieboldcracy, on 12/31/2008, -0/+5I have an idea, just setup a bunch of hidden cameras and make Somalia a 24/7 reality show. You could pick any camera you want and try to find some action
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -1/+5Somalia had a president? Feh!?
- hmunkey, on 12/31/2008, -0/+3He joined in the *****-storm. He never had a real government to lead. Now he's leaving in a *****-storm.
Somalia is a giant *****-storm basically. - Octophetus, on 12/31/2008, -1/+4Bad news for us in Minneapolis, looks like our populations going to double!
- bringitdownnow, on 12/31/2008, -2/+5A more appropriate and correct response would be that because the Somalian people really aren't following anarchist or libertarian philosophy whatsoever (IE: horizontal systems of mutual aid, forming collectives for a variety of production), it isn't a destination most anarchists or libertarians are flocking to. Warring over power, money, and religious ideology aren't exactly theories adhering to traditional anarchism or libertarianism.
TL;DR: You should read more. - pyromcr, on 12/31/2008, -0/+2why did bush not do the same thing a year ago???
oh yeah, then we would have dick... - inactive, on 12/31/2008, -0/+2Yet try and try again, we will.
- zaphar, on 12/31/2008, -0/+2Isn't most of the violence and inter-clan fighting due to the clans trying to gain control of the new "central" government foreign powers are so eager to establish?
- 7Wiseguy, on 12/31/2008, -0/+2He was a lame duck. He didn't preside over anything. Even the presidential palace was guarded by AU troops. Now Al-Shabaab (another Taliban) will takeover the country.
- gooner11, on 12/31/2008, -0/+2Very true. The anger towards Siad Barre's dictatorship was what most of the Somali people (at least the tribes that reside in and around Mogadishu) had in common when they chased him and his comrades out of Mogadishu in 1991. But that was it. Anger and hatred, no other plan....and the fact they all seemed to have one enemy "The Government" but, sure enough, they soon realized they hated each other even more....and more NASTY inter-clan fighting ensued. I guess, they were saving the best (killing your next door neighbour instead government official) for last.
Somalia is like Iraq, except Somalians are 100% responsible for the hopeless situation they are in today.
PS. By the way I am Somalian. - inactive, on 12/31/2008, -1/+3OMG! We must spread some democracy over there ASAP!
Team America, ***** YEAH! - psychosatori, on 12/30/2008, -1/+3Captain...where have all the rats gone?
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -0/+2It was the Us playing sides, illegally i might add, that caused the break up of the fragile alliance that had been formed there.
and thanks for explaining you complex joke. - jedinate, on 12/31/2008, -0/+2And everything was going so well...
- CouchTomato, on 12/31/2008, -0/+2Time for some peaceful and progressive Sharia law..craziness.
- mdman, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1Not like he had any power there anyway.. there has not been any real government there for over 2 years
- mcnees287, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1that would be sick
- mcnees287, on 12/31/2008, -1/+2can you really blame him?
- connieLingus, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1in other words, there was probably no more money left to steal.
- diggydougie, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1I didn't enen think that Somalia had a president. I thought it was the state of anarchy.
- McNash, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1we have enough already.
- josepablos, on 12/31/2008, -1/+2i never been in a ***** storm before!!..--.
- Jonlennon1973, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1What a mess !!
- phrawgh, on 12/31/2008, -1/+2Somalia had a president?
- kreuzbergjakob, on 08/10/2009, -0/+1He want's to come back pronto into his long been accustomed exile in Kenia (or was it Tansania?). A president for thats inauguration the capital city by foreign troops has to be evacuated and who is bombed into his department by other foreigners!
ROTFL
Never seen before, that foreign forces try to bomb a government to power without any back from their people!
Now we can wait again for the news, when the Somali exile parliament is fighting as they are bloody.
But not for laughing is the toll of death, killed by US and European weapons in the hands of nearly all troops of the world. All who need the USA or are afraid for occupation. - brownsound00, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1***** storm's a-comin ricky... watch out for the ***** eagles, with their ***** poop.
- Mr. Lahey - hmunkey, on 12/31/2008, -1/+2If the US never invaded Iraq or Afghanistan (even thought I agree w/ Afghanistan), The UN would be willing to help out in Africa. And the US would be taking the lead.
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1@nolimits: Think again.

THE OIL FACTOR IN SOMALIA
January 18, 1993 - navk2005, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1from arrested development:
cocco-cocco-cocco-co! - Target91, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1We tried that already. Didn't work.
- novenator, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1I had real hopes that the Ethiopian backed govt of President Abdullahi Yusuf could restore stability to Somalia and marginalize the Islamist warlords who have taken the country hostage. Alas, it was not to be. Get ready for more chaos to ensue.
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1If I wanted 2 day old news I would go buy an old paper. comon digg.
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1Puts Bush to shame.

- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -1/+1There's over a thousand Somalians here in Maine that should all be deported because their country is a terrorist nation.
I cant stand these scumbag free loaders. Mainers cant get heating oil and food aid because foreigners are taking all of it. - inactive, on 12/31/2008, -1/+1not enough oil there prolly

http://www.sohbetozel.org - FriedTurkey, on 12/31/2008, -4/+4Was he ever really the President? That country is complete anarchy. Anarchists and Libertarians who believe society can exist without government should move to Somalia. I am sure the "free market" there is fixing everything.
Cue response saying Somalia isn't a true "free market". - adelodigg, on 01/07/2009, -0/+0What a mess !! And everything was going so well...
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -5/+4Let the pirates take over, and maybe Pirate Bay can move their servers there.
A country where RIAA & MPAA sympathisers are forced to clean male public toilets.
