- HurricaneDC, on 09/28/2009, -0/+91If I were Obama I'd be extremely half-offended.
- RichT711, on 09/28/2009, -11/+81Its not a gaffe. Italy blames a lot of their problems in the south with African immigrants. And Berlusconi IS the mafia. He runs the country and has power like no other president there has. He can get away with doing or saying anything. And as far as public backlash, the guy owns most of the media outlets in the country so that isnt going to happen. The fact that he chases young women only makes him that much more alpha male to Italian sensibilities. What Americans call a gaffe a the expense of their naive and impotent Obama is good press for Berlusconi.
- lysdexia, on 09/28/2009, -1/+48To my knowledge, Berlusconi is the first man in history that made The Queen of England request that he be told to shut his mouth.
- alanocu, on 09/28/2009, -11/+44Italy’s gaffe-prone prime minister has about as much common sense as Joe Biden. Maybe they're related.
- Hrodrik, on 09/28/2009, -3/+29Berlusconi is a populist moron. Corrupt as they come. ***** him.
- EMFK, on 09/28/2009, -3/+27Silvio has obviously had one too many Rolling Rocks while in Pittsburgh. :-)
- Pilot85, on 09/28/2009, -0/+22As a Mulatto myself, I am incredibly half upset. I mean it, I am seriously semi-pissed-off, and fractionally offended. Incompletely enraged, moderately furious even. I have half a mind to go kick that guys' ass.
- xmarcovinzx, on 09/28/2009, -2/+21I am ashamed of being italian when it comes to Berlusconi. Tomorrow, 29 sept., will be his 73rd birthday. I hope, along with a huge number of italians that are not crazy, that this will be his last birthday.
- InactiveUser, on 09/28/2009, -4/+23Mafia wanker opens mouth again...
- moleeyes, on 09/28/2009, -2/+20Generalisations are generally useless
- joculator, on 09/28/2009, -0/+16Berlusconi is an embarrassment to Italy. The fact that he's been around so long goes to show you how seriously Italians take their government.
- blackinthmiddle, on 09/28/2009, -0/+15Or simply ignore him. He's an attention whore. The best way to punish an attention whore is to ignore him. Obama gains nothing by rolling in the mud with a pig, just dirty.
- tenbosch, on 09/28/2009, -2/+17Perhaps Obama should refer to Berlusconi as greased?
- dlan4327, on 09/28/2009, -0/+14Berlusconi isn't stupid. He knows how to play the media to get a high profile.
The man's an attention whore, but he's very good at it. Corrupt as they come.
He owns the Italian media. Shame his son can't seem to save AC Milan though. - MrFilistine, on 09/28/2009, -2/+16What I want to know is; where did he go to get his hair-transplant done - ***** Legoland?
- inactive, on 09/28/2009, -5/+18Maybe Obama should start referring to him as Mussolini. Epic douche..
- inactive, on 09/28/2009, -9/+22Joe Biden has said that many times.
- JigoroKano, on 09/28/2009, -2/+14He's a country in Western Africa?
Your comment history gives credence the suspicion that all of this commie, socialist, fascist, Marxist talk is cover for racism. - Kaempffe1, on 09/28/2009, -1/+11I'll be honest, I thought it was funny. He's said this before and I wasn't offended on Obama's behalf then, either.
- Mujokan, on 09/28/2009, -1/+11He's not "gaffe prone", he's just a prick.
I found this article to be quite a good summation of his nature: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/f53b0fea-98e3-11de-aa1b- ... - retro7, on 09/28/2009, -2/+11Racism in Europe it's a problem. But equal to racism in USA. Not more, not less.
- zoomaKabu, on 09/28/2009, -0/+9And your caring is so very important too.
- thewibbler, on 09/28/2009, -0/+9Remind me, who don't you care about?
- kishnel, on 09/28/2009, -2/+11So sad to be italian these days...
- xmarcovinzx, on 09/28/2009, -4/+13I can tell you, I'm italian and well informed, unfortunatly.
- rolls20s, on 09/28/2009, -0/+9At least he didn't say it was spray-on...
- Jules0, on 09/28/2009, -0/+8by what standards, might I ask? the ones you make up from your basement in MA?
the simple fact that this article made it to the front pages of digg and other news sources means people care more than you think. Obviously getting press because your president is a douchebag isn't the best one, and I could make a list of industrial and economic reasons about why people otherwise care, but I don't make a habit of feeding trolls TOO much. - Mujokan, on 09/28/2009, -1/+9He might take it as a compliment. http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2003/sep/12/italy. ...
- lysdexia, on 09/28/2009, -1/+8Isn't racism much to do with stereotyping?
Just a thought... - Elohir, on 09/28/2009, -4/+11Bull****.
- inactive, on 09/28/2009, -1/+7Lemonchicken's are generally racist against Italian leaders
- KingofGnG, on 09/28/2009, -0/+6http://kingofgng.com/eng/2009/07/05/silvio-berlusc ...
- charlietuna, on 09/28/2009, -0/+5And still he's banging 18 year old models.
- DDRSkata, on 09/28/2009, -0/+5When you make remarks about his skin color, that's kind of racist.
- bmw7777, on 09/28/2009, -2/+7skadd, who told you that Italians think Berlusconi's behavior is OK??? If you actually had lived or live in Italy (I don't think you have), you would know that many Italians do have a problem with him. The media covers up most of it because Berlusconi OWNS much of the media in Italy. The newspapers and TV stations (and magazines) that are not his, criticize him on a daily basis. The Italians who vote for him deny voting for him because they are embarrassed to say they did. Why do they vote for him?? He favors the rich (tax cuts, facilitates tax evasion) and fools the poor (often uneducated) into thinking he is the best candidate. Also, a lack of anything better with other politicians. I voted for Prodi (left wing) last election and he did so many stupid things in Italy that even Berlusconi (right wing) is probably better, even though he is a mafioso. And yes I hate Berlusconi, but we do not have much choice in Italy. The left has no balls and is stupid, and the right are even more mafiosos than the left. And the center just leans to whoever is strongest. Politics in Italy are a nightmare.
- skadd, on 09/28/2009, -3/+7Why?
I find it very strange that the Italian people think Berlusconis behavior is OK.
And don't tell me they do have a problem with him, because if they actually did, they would've elected someone else to run the country, and not elect him twice.
Laughable. - yellowsnowcone, on 09/28/2009, -0/+4he means Moors
- inactive, on 09/28/2009, -2/+6He is a genuine chocolate face, no makeup!
- Silvio Boratsconi - davmattucci, on 09/28/2009, -4/+8"The fact that he chases young women only makes him that much more alpha male to Italian sensibilities."
You're an idiot. - ramilehti, on 09/28/2009, -2/+6Italians, Please grow a backbone already and get rid of this guy. He is making all Italians look bad.
- 45superman, on 09/28/2009, -9/+12Beverage painfully ejected from nostrils.
Next time, warn a guy first, would you?
Geez, Hurricane--what did I ever do to you? - whiteguysamurai, on 09/28/2009, -0/+3Is that all he said? Really?
If i were Obama, i don't think i'd give a crap about this. - DDRSkata, on 09/28/2009, -0/+3Shut up. You have to politicize this instead of just admitting that this dude is an idiot and a douchebag, whose behavior is not befitting of his office. A world leader should not be making racist remarks about anyone, especially other world leaders. Period.
- wacked, on 09/28/2009, -1/+3Wow. It's amazing to have to point out that people with dark skin, no matter how dark it is, also tan. Sure the guy may be hilariously gaffe prone, but nothing he said is racist.
If Obama goes to the beach and catches some sun he tans. Just like every other ***** human being on this god forsaken planet. - FormerBabby, on 09/28/2009, -3/+5Italy = the 8 in G8
- blackinthmiddle, on 09/28/2009, -1/+3I couldn't agree with you more. Those jug ears make it impossible for anyone to take him seriously. And who's his wife trying to fool? All of that learning and *****; everyone can see right through her act. She's an angry black woman, just like every smart black woman.
Here's some advice for Obama. You want to be taken seriously? Let's start with the basics. You've gotta have at least three bitches on the side like all good world leaders do! Along the same lines, you have to ditch your wife. No world leader should be shackled to a wife just as smart as him. His next wife needs to be a lobbyist/former model and no older than 28. But he still keeps the bitches, of course.
Next, he needs to bulk up. He's too thin. Putin is the perfect model here. Maybe ditch your wife for a flexible gymnast like he did. And plastic surgery would fix those ears so easily. He needs to be more vain!
Finally, he needs to get angry. Threaten to drop a bomb or two. Threaten economic sanctions against a country or two. This would be a good start. We can work on the corruption later! - IKORKYI, on 09/28/2009, -1/+3Racism? In Italy? Noooooo
I can count on my fingers how many decades have passed since Italy sided with Hitler's Nazi Germany in WWII. - davmattucci, on 09/28/2009, -2/+4@skadd
You've proven your ignorance again. The people of Italy don't approve of his behavior, and Berlusconi is nothing more than a dictator who's rigged each of his elections. He was tossed out of office once already. Try not generalizing about an entire nation before posting, genius. - awinters, on 09/28/2009, -0/+2This guy is such a sad joke, nothing he says can be really offensive.
He's a total perv and you can see from the president's face that he was ready to beat a bitch's ass when he tried to kiss Michelle.
