- nomarxist, on 06/18/2009, -9/+82By law the President MUST notify Congress 30 days prior and provide reasons for the firing. That legislation was enacted in 2008, and a co-sponsor of the bill was none other than Senator Barack Obama! Corruption? Double dealing? Sure... and in addition he broke the law!
- jmbreland, on 06/18/2009, -20/+92We'll see lots more of this kind of thing. Just as North Korea becomes more emboldened by the world's impotence, the Obama Administration constantly tests the limits of what we will let it get away with. With the U.S. Government under the control of a single party that treats the Constitution like a piece of toilet paper, and with a fawning media convinced that Obama can do no wrong, we ain't seen nothin' yet.
- Yeeeech, on 06/18/2009, -17/+77Corruption, double dealing, under the table decision making, lack of transparency; biased partisan whacking of reliable, intelligent public servants......who would have ever imagined that second rate, tawdry hack poiticians (Obama and Emanuel) from Chicago would stoop so low?
- mrbenz7, on 06/18/2009, -13/+64Yeah, who didn't see this coming! The people have a good reason to be wary of the overhaul of the Nation's financial sector. Especially when you have appointed a tax cheat like Tim Geithener to over see the IRS!
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -18/+61Obama is turning out to be the man we all feared before he was elected. Hate to say it but, I TOLD YOU SO!
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -17/+50Big O is really turning out to be the marxist that his history prior to the election suggested he would be. A model of a soviet czar himself.
In less than 6 months he has done more to enslave Americans to nakedly obvious tyrannical government than any three POTUSs I can recall. Interestingly no one in Congress or the Senate has had as much to say about these overt works to undermine our Constitutional Republic as they had from attempts to reinforce them from previous administrations.
It appears government has long embraced the socialist marxist model and only recently has felt like they have gotten the feeling of being 'outed' and now have become reckless in their overt behavior to achieve some form of satisfaction as retribution for long repressed intentions now set "free" in the face of conventional views.
We have only just begun to see the shockingly socialist regressive impact this is going to have on our society as they "level the playing field" to the lowest common denominator for all behavior public and private. - phydeaux70, on 06/18/2009, -8/+36The ironic thing is that Obama is a co-sponsor of the Bill that gave the requirements for the IGs to be dismissed. So.....this is really a case of Obama trying to throw his muscle around.
- bluto36, on 06/18/2009, -13/+39circle the wagons boys! we are doing this the Chicago way!
- belleboy, on 06/18/2009, -13/+38Boy, am I so happy that I did not vote for this fraud of a President. I wonder just how many voters out there will admit to "voter remorse."
I learned my lesson a long time ago when I voted for "I won't lie to you" Jimmy Carter. Obama's grab for power will make Jimmy Carter look like a great president. - UnFriendlyFire, on 06/18/2009, -10/+32CHANGE!
- boulder555, on 06/18/2009, -7/+27The dispute comes as Grassley, ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, is looking into the abrupt firings within the last week of two other inspectors general ¿ one of whom was fired by the White House and the other by the chair of the International Trade Commission.
Both inspectors general had investigated sensitive subjects at the time of their firings - CarpeFishem, on 06/18/2009, -4/+24If he gave them 30 days' notice and informed them of the cause for firing them. Which he didn't.
- methdwman3, on 06/18/2009, -3/+22Outside of whether or not the guy should have been fired, Obama was a CO-SPONSOR of legislation to prevent quickie firings, and went against his own legislation. Whether the guy should have been fired isn't even the point.
- excelwelding, on 06/18/2009, -8/+25This is still just the tip of the iceberg.
- Stevanoski, on 06/18/2009, -10/+26President Blago Obama.
- omnis, on 06/18/2009, -8/+24Oh Obama. You're not doing so well, are you?
- JayTee44, on 06/19/2009, -5/+20Diggers before the election: Bush is Satan! McCain is evil! Obama will change all of this, he is the only one!
.....Diggers after the election: Well, Bush did it first. - drazen77, on 06/18/2009, -8/+23At least with past presidents the erosions of our freedoms was a trickle compared to the flood that is the Obama administration.
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -1/+16All the more reason to impose strict limits on government power. Government will never voluntarily give up power. It's the nature of the beast.
- norman619, on 06/18/2009, -2/+17Actually the Obama administration is the worst case we have seen in a VERY long time. We thought Bush was bad. I don't think anyone realistically expected Obama and his administration to show this much disregard for the law of the land (The Constitution) and anyone who dares to question their plans for our nation. To say "Every administration does this" is an attempt to make what the Obama administration is doing to our country as nothing special. Obama is making his mark in American history but I will not be a flattering one. Obama may not have control over the parties but he is neck deep in the politics. He and many of the other elected politicians are part of the cancer that has been eating away at our nation for decades. I only hope when the people vote these clowns out of office it will not be too late to undo the damage.
- Lebek, on 07/26/2009, -0/+14If you've ever watched a dam collapse, it always starts with a trickle.
- drazen77, on 06/18/2009, -0/+14Cute.
But at least a trickle can be patched. It's kind of hard to plug the leak when you have the guy in charge driving a pickaxe into the hole. - pkphilip, on 06/18/2009, -6/+20The main stream media is still not talking about it. there is very little coverage. the MSM is still in bed with Obama
- deema1, on 06/19/2009, -2/+16At least Chicago newspapers are willing to call Obama out on his unethical behavior. With the exception of Fox, the rest of the media is too spineless to do so.
- Barackalypse, on 06/18/2009, -9/+23We can't let a little thing like corruption and waste get in the way of our nationalizing the health care and financial systems, now can we? Obama has important work to do and cannot be bothered to follow the law or let people snoop about and risk embarassing him, his friends, or the Government!
- WaldoX, on 06/18/2009, -2/+15Liar liar pants on fire obama... change? i call BS on u
- maz2331, on 06/19/2009, -4/+17An anti-Obama article on the front page - has Hell officially frozen over or something?
- JayTee44, on 06/19/2009, -0/+12I've read a few editorials and I'm convinced that the 'inappropriate conduct' charge is without merit- and no witnesses at the hearings agree with that charge, and no inappropriate conduct was discussed at the hearings. He's being thrown out because they want him gone.
Obama has also thrown out 3 other inspectors as of today.
This president is awful! It would be nice to see some of you diggers admit it. - Oatlord, on 06/18/2009, -4/+16I didn't realize that. That's just mind boggling.
- tpmidd, on 06/18/2009, -2/+14He broke the law he co-sponsored! Apparently he didn't get the memo that the "work" he did in the Senate was to create and pass Laws. I guess all that time on the campaign trail made him think he had become a traveling pitchman and not a lawmaker.
- GrodyChamp, on 06/19/2009, -3/+15We're ***** for at least another 3 years.
- indygirl, on 06/18/2009, -16/+28what everyone seems to be forgetting is that this has been going on in this country for the last several presidents. obama is "the one" because all those who have gone before him have paved his way...he is doing what the majority of you wanted to do all along...every president since President Kennedy has been a stepping stone toward this point and most of you are reacting surprised. surprise. this is what you get when you grow government. this is what you get when you grow government fast. obama is going to take away all of our individual rights, IF we let him, and make a system of elites and have-nots OR we will rise up out of our homes and hit the streets on Washington, D.C., and tell those lying, deceitful politicians to STOP. the debt is obviously "unsustainable," taxes cannot be raised, stop growing the government--in fact, let's get rid of a lot of it--stop bailing out public companies and rewarding corrupt unions, stop bailing out friends, stop firing people who do their job in government without explanation, show us your stupid birth certificate, repeal all tarp and stimulus monies, get rid of the CZARS for heaven's sake, support our troops, and who cares if you can kill a fly "in one swoop." it seems to me we've got some impeaching to do.
- maz2331, on 06/19/2009, -2/+13Congress will give him a pass.
- Zarchon, on 06/18/2009, -5/+16Of course not. We reserve jumping to conclusions for Bush.
- xGORDOx, on 06/19/2009, -3/+14Just like an amateur to break a law he created.
- Tubal22, on 06/19/2009, -0/+11Anti-Obama on front page.
US Government controls the financial, insurance, and automotive industries.
Yes. Hell has officially frozen over. - buckrogers1965, on 06/19/2009, -2/+13Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, as the soviets used to say.
Oh, and it doesn't matter if anyone else has ever broken the law before, totally meaningless to if the law is being broken in this case.
So and so did it is neither a defense, nor an explanation. - Glynth, on 06/19/2009, -0/+11It'd be more akin to "jumping to conclusions" if we hadn't seen this coming from a mile away. Those of us who have been paying attention, at least.
- Glynth, on 06/19/2009, -0/+10First, in point of fact, "every administration does this" downplays what Obama's doing because, NO, this is NOT just like the Bush administration or another administration. The circumstances are quite different.
Second, this is a special case of hypocrisy. Obama wrote a law as a Senator that requires the President to give detailed reasoning to Congress about WHY an Inspector General was to be terminated and that requires a 30 day notice for such an act. Obama doesn't even follow his own laws! - Glynth, on 06/19/2009, -1/+11And I was told that Bush was akin to Hitler reincarnate. I can tell the difference between screaming minority views from the Left and undeniable facts that make some Republicans look bad. Now it's your turn to take a look around and stop hiding from the inconvenient truth.
- maceelk, on 06/18/2009, -1/+10"It's just mind bottling." - Derek Zoolander
However i feel this quote is more appropriate.
"I feel like im taking freakin' crazy pills!" -Mugatoo - inactive, on 06/19/2009, -0/+9Please God let the sloppy wet media blow job end so I can watch TV again.
- Glynth, on 06/19/2009, -1/+10Of course they are. Didn't you hear that he's like God, looking over all of us? The news media told me so.
- inactive, on 06/19/2009, -0/+9Raid the treasury and make the stupid people think the republicans did it!
- Glynth, on 06/19/2009, -0/+9"It would be nice to see some of you diggers admit it."
Diggers? A majority of them even _thinking_ about criticizing Obama? Don't hold your breath. - PoliticalJules, on 06/19/2009, -1/+10Welcome to the fast tract to socialism. I fear there is little we can do about it now. Practice bowing to the King Obamacorn.
Keep an eye on N.Korea as well. While obamacorn is sending interceptor ships to Hawaii (which is 500 miles short of where lil kims missles can reach), he leaves Alaska unprotected. Alaska can be hit easily by a nuclear missle from N.Korea. Wonder why the King refuses to protect them? I guess he feels Palin and her state are expendable. Who knows, a missle hitting Alaska could be obamacorn's perfect created crisis that is so devestating and so horrible as to keep him in power, and he would get his payback against palin.
Sounds unbelievable? I sure hope so, but what other unbelievable things have happened to us in obamacorn's first year. No one thought the government would take over the auto industry, or that we would have a president that spent two trillion dollars, or that our leaders would allow socialized medicing, or that a thug like George Soros could call all the shots, or that IG would be fired illegally, or that our constitution would be perverted beyond belief and nothing has been done to protect it. But this all happened. So I am not thinking anything sounds unbelievable right now. I hope and pray Alaska is ok, - inactive, on 06/19/2009, -0/+9Whenever the press talks to Obama they are entranced and pay rapt attention, polite and would never dream of interupting him.
Compare that to how they treated Bush. They made not attempt to hide their contempt and could barely talk to him without spitting.
I keep expecting some of Obama's worshipers at ABC to snap and give him a big sloppy wet kiss. - cantstanzyou, on 06/19/2009, -0/+8yes he has
He was called on his cell phone and told that he had one hour to resign or be fired.
How is that not fired.
What is worse they used him to help lobby for the supreme court lobby pick... and the leming did. - tsotha, on 06/19/2009, -2/+10Wow! That's an eloquent defense of illegality. Little hard to face up to the fact your guy is a crook, isn't it?
- Spindig, on 06/19/2009, -0/+8It won't last long.
