- syroncoda, on 04/03/2008, -0/+6lies. it'll take a LOT to turn the world view of this country. pulling out of iraq isn't even enough to fix it.
- pariahjane, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2Agreed. I don't know what it would take to fix this country but you're right, it's going to take a whole lot more than pulling out of Iraq to fix it. Our education system is shambles, we're being controlled by neocons and right wing religious fanatics. We've got a lot of work to do!
- TrevaLVF, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1Although these issues are important to us (RE: education system, the control neocons have over the compliant herd here, and the need to fix this country), that's a bit off-topic here. The issue the world view of our country, the governmen here (which is supposed to be ours, but most Americans aren't interested in making it so), and our society and what we and the government insiders do to earn the hatred, or other sentiments of our global neighbors.
- TrevaLVF, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1I tried to edit, but a glitch prevented it.
My final point in the previous comment post to you is that I doubt if the world really cares about our domestic issues. But for the individuals that are compassionate and want the best for everybody, the only concern the world might have over issues like our education system is that it is glaringly obvious to people in countries where quality education for every child is a top priority. It might be more forgivable if not for the level of ignorance that is encouraged by the flawed education system, but also compounded by the corporate media, politicians and numerous paid "experts" that go on TV to serve a BS agenda.

- freedomwv, on 04/03/2008, -0/+6Most people do not hate Americans just our government. Although, too often when Americans travel to other countries we act like asses and make ourselves look bad. When in Rome...
- Azimuth1, on 04/03/2008, -3/+4One reason everyone hates you is that you seem to think that Americans have special rights that nobody else has.
"You see, if I wasn't an American there is a chance that I wouldn't even be allowed to state the things I have in this post."
There are about three countries in the world where people are censored when trying to speak out against their government. Stop acting like this is some special ability that only Americans have. Something as basic as that is not a reason to be proud of your country. That's like being proud of your teenage son because he can read.- pariahjane, on 04/03/2008, -2/+3I didn't say America was the only country where its people had plenty of freedom. There are other countries out there offer their citizens more than the US offers us. However, there are countries that do censor their people (um, more than 3, just for the record) so my statement still is true. You really should try reading the entire post before you just hunt and peck for ***** to be a dick about. - TrevaLVF, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1Not all of us believe the myth about ours being the only free country. Instead of addressing this issue in the accusing way, which puts most Americans on the auto-defensive/offensive, ask us why so many Americans believe that ours is the only free country (or the most free country). Amidst the rattle of slogans we're all expected to recite in response, some of us will offer a truthful explanation of what is causing this gross amount of American ignorance about the world around us.
I've discovered, although many of our international neighbors learn more about Americans than most Americans learn about them, they still have misconceptions about us. We Americans are not all cut from the same mold. For that matter, many of my fellow Americans are not originally from this country.

- whitezombie420, on 04/03/2008, -0/+4people use to hate americans because of the perception that we think we are better than everyone else. now people hate america because they think they are better than americans. kind of ironic, no?
