Sealand is up for sale!
forums.somethingawful.com — The principality of Sealand is up for sale. A loose federation of Somethingawful.com goons are mulling a purchase of the island to establish a sovereign state. Such an act would be a first the world of an internet community to establish a nation in the real world.

- mynameistim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6except for the fact that no other countries recognize it as a country, yeah, sure, it's a country.
- gravylookout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Maybe The Pirate Bay should be looking into this...
- Yashar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4On the website that is selling Sealand they have the price listed as XXX,XXX,XXX euros. They are better off buying an actual island off of Canada or the Philippines like some people suggested for $500,000-$1,000,000
- LetsGoHawks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9That would make them a part of Canada or the Philippines. The point is to be an independent country.
- Videlicet, on 10/12/2007, -19/+4Digg could totally pwn somethingawful. King Kevin sound good to everyone?
- Videlicet, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2If you feel so strongly about it, use the little red thumb. It's not that hard.
Either way, though, you're right. Digg me down for my stupid comment.

- Videlicet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2There is a thing called a "reply" button. Holy *****! I just used it! It's so hard!
- lillepalle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I dont see it being for sale from any official source?
Hoax I say... - oddmanout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i just read about this on wikipedia the other day
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealand - Sware, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, even if they do buy sealand, as shown here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealand, you will own 12nm of territorial water. Then you can buy a lot of sand or dirt and spam it into the water and create a man-made island and live on it.
- JimXugle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good idea... except that the platform is in open water and anything you would put there would probably erode.
