- ANonHubbard, on 02/27/2008, -1/+13The man went to his grave without once experiencing an original thought.
- nicholai, on 02/28/2008, -0/+3Ironic that the CoS is so keen on abusing copy right laws when they have clearly violated them.
- zplot, on 02/27/2008, -2/+12So... Step 1: take some average nut's guide to resolving emotional problems. Step 2: add a story of a galactic emperor Xenu and create a secretive religion around it in order to get away with overcharging for plagiarized content. Step 3: profit.
(My thanks to the South Park writers for creating the "3 steps" idea - I'll give credit where it's due, unlike certain cult leaders) - Annihilatrix, on 02/27/2008, -1/+7How freaking great is this. This news must be spread. Though I am sure the cult will find some way to make a loophole to explain how this is to be.
- 13tongimp, on 02/27/2008, -1/+13My thetans are tingling and swollen...
- SpaceRibs, on 02/27/2008, -1/+9haha thats some hilarity right there. Not only was it made up, it wasn't even made up by him.
- enjinere, on 02/27/2008, -0/+8I guess that makes it a true religion- partially made up by man and partially borrowed from other mythology.
- digiwand, on 02/27/2008, -1/+7I wonder what anonymous is gonna do with this little tidbit of info? LOL
- Waterrat, on 02/28/2008, -0/+4 Dunno,but I'm looking forward to finding out.
- DocWattsMan, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1I guess I'll ask him on Caturday! lulz ^_^
- TravisBatos, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1How does it feel to be the cancer killing Anonymous, DocWattsMan?

- jazzjeff, on 02/27/2008, -1/+8I guess Will Smith and his wife are going to look pretty stupid right now to have fallen for this cults copied trash!
- nemrel, on 02/28/2008, -0/+6Scientology seems to pander to people who do their work in the "make believe" world. Plus the Church's members are told/brainwashed into thinking that they're saving the entire Galaxy and they are the ONLY ones who can do this! The religion is so egotistical that it falls into and panders to that "special" personality type that celebrities seem to exude - you know the type that live in that epic fantasy dream world. So I'm thinking Tom Cruise and Will Smith don't give a damn what anyone says, where Scientology came from or what the Church does to people (i.e. - fair game, disconnection, Lisa McPherson). To them, they get to be the hero in the largest and biggest action/science fiction flick ever! It's the role of a lifetime - or a billion life times. Just sign on the dotted line and make your 3.5 million dollar donation out to the RTC (Religious Technology Center).
- jazzjeff, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2Sadly, so true. Well said.

- TheNomad08, on 02/27/2008, -1/+2Regardless of where he got his ideas from, Scientology is still around. Though this will probably stir up more interest in the origins of Scientology.
- omenmedia, on 02/27/2008, -0/+11Old father Hubbard
Went to the cupboard
To fetch a worthy religious tome
But when he got there
The cupboard was bare
And so his poor followers got owned - wetfarts, on 02/28/2008, -2/+1tom cruise is loving it
- Roaming, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2Did Scientology kill Shawn Lonsdale?
http://www.scientomogy.com/shawn_lonsdale.php - asherchang, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2So.... not only are his revelations historically, geologically, and culturally naive, but they weren't even his to begin with? I wonder how the Co$ will spin this? Or will they pull out their litigation hammer?

Wikipedia summary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientologie,_Wissens ...
"The English-language term "Scientology" originated neither with Hubbard nor Nordenholz, but with philologist Allen Upward, who coined the term in 1907 to ridicule pseudoscientific theories." - Roaming, on 02/28/2008, -0/+6Did L Ron Hubbard steal the word "Scientology" also?
"In 1908, Upward self-published a book (originally written in 1901) which he apparently thought would be Nobel Prize material: The New Word. This book is today known as the first citation of the word "Scientology", although it is used in the book in a disparaging way to describe "science elevated to unquestioning doctrine". It is unknown whether L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Scientology-organization, knew of this book."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Upward - tksparks, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1This is great. Co$ creating the biggest Lulz of all!!!
This is a great one to get out there, it'll drive the Scifags nuts - NikFromNYC, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1$cientology made a big mistake. They took the path of textbook cult instead of true religion. The stated aim of its founder was to make money, TAX FREE, and to basically mindfark the heck out of all members. At one point the Catholic Church did this by using the printing press to print "indulgences" (passes to visit brothels yet not go to hell) but a guy named Lucifer, er I mean Luther, who put up a mere flier or two, thinking it would be a mere academic debate except that the the rascally pamphleteers copied his COLOR posters of people graphically farting towards a corrupt church's front steps, printed a million copies which were spread all over Europe, and the rest is history, leading to the Puritans creating the Industrial Revolution and then, after a few ships sailed to "India" (USA), they wrote a rather nasty document, declaring their Independence.
That the Pope first decreed that his word was infallible (a couple centuries ago), then in his last ever decree said "Christians may believe in the theory of evolution," back in 1996, and now in 2008 just came out against junk science of "global warming" which is itself being turned into a global doomsday religion, means that Christianity has swallowed the hard pill of Enlightenment, unlike most other religions or cults.
Scientology? Beware bored people without a cause. They will crush you. Not by de-programming existing members, but by cutting off your supply of new blood. Given the mostly won war in the Middle East, and the bright future of solar power as a real alternative to energy, people are just itching to find a new enemy, especially one who emulates in almost cartoon fashion, the old corrupt CIA of the Vietnam era.
"Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion." - L. Ron Hubbard, 1949 - primorec, on 05/24/2008, -0/+0http://forums.enturbulation.org/viewtopic.php?f=3& ... this link Scientology not invented by Hubbard does not work for me
