- vongole, on 05/08/2008, -0/+43Tommy Davis speaks with forked tongue. Lie after lie after lie. "There is no such thing as disconnection..." "There isn't any such policy in the Church." Scientology PTS Tech:
From: HCO BULLETIN OF 10 SEPTEMBER 1983 "PTSness and Disconnection"
"A Scientologist can become PTS by reason of being connected to someone that is antagonistic to Scientology or its tenets. In order to resolve the PTS condition, he either HANDLES the other person's antagonism (as covered in the materials on PTS handling) or, as a last resort when all attempts to handle have failed, he disconnects from the person. He is simply exercising his right to communicate or not to communicate with a particular person.
"With our tech of handle or disconnect, we are, in actual fact, doing nothing different than any society or group or marriage down through thousands of years."
For a personal account of Disconnection See Jenna Miscavige Hill: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUDjbwzCqv4&NR=1
For Scientology dead space alien beliefs (Body Thetans), Google Xenu.
It is Scientology that "turns things and twists things," not the internet.- mediaphile, on 05/09/2008, -0/+6Yes, and keep in mind that PTS stands for Possible Trouble Source.
- mfratz, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3I was thinking the same thing the entire time he was talking. Most people don't come out and outright lie in interviews, especially about things that most people already know are true. Disconnection, body thetans and the fact that the real story of scientology is not known to most scientologists until they reach a certain level are all things that are true and have been revealed by ex-scientologists who have come out and spoken about the church and their message. Its things like this that worry me about people and their common sense. I just don't understand how scientlogy has gotten so big and how it continues to grow around the world. It just doesn't make sense to me.
- breadfred, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2It is also interesting that he does not want to talk about the basic principles of Scientology, just about 'what it can do'. Oh yes, did you notice he did not deny the idea that Scientologists believe that their bodies have to get rid of alien bugs? He just said he thought it sounds silly. He is not really lying but does not answer the question. Way to interview - do not check if the interviewee has actually answered the question!
- felinonymous, on 05/08/2008, -2/+29As a Christian, I can give you a clear understanding of what I believe in a few sentences and without thinking too hard. What kind of religious spokesman can't tell you what the tenets of their faith are? It occurs to me that he was really only interested in spouting the Scientology website as often as possible. He certainly wasn't there to answer questions- I never heard him answer a single question for the entire six minutes. Scientology would be well advised to actually FIND and USE a real PR spokesperson. The light that they were shown in for this effort was less than complimentary.
- mfratz, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4I disagree. I mean I agree that "the light that they were shown in for this effort was less than complimentary," to you and I as well as any "sensible" person watching but that is by far and away not the demographic they are targeting.
As I see it, scientology is trying to compete with the 3 major religions already set in place around the world (as the PR guy said in the interview, most people are born and raised into a religion with little to no effort on behalf of the church) but scientologists need to have a reason to actually seek out the religion. Think of scientology as somewhat of a cult only more accepted under the guise of a "religion". In order to get "first generation" converters, you have to go for the "easiest" possible targets because they are the ones that do not ask questions. Once they have been converted, their families will be raised as scientologists thereby achieving the church's ultimate goal of sustaining itself like any other religion for an extended period of time and eventually becoming publicly and socially accepted due solely to its massive number of devoted members.
It starts like any other religion did and anonymous is just trying to make sure it doesnt end the same way too.- deanoplex, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3Scientology is trying to keep the money flowing. Nothing more, nothing less.
- YKKonMyZipper, on 05/09/2008, -1/+1Same with other religions at least historically speaking. And that doesn't really mean it takes away from faith or anything money is a necessity.
- ISmokesDaPot420, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5No. Just as when the so-called church infiltrated the U.S. government, they do not just seek to co-exist, nor do they, unlike the above poster stated, just seek money. They seek power. I am a Christian, and certainly it would be wrong for me to say that the entity which has claimed to follow Jesus Christ hasn't done the same thing, but in reading leaked documents and testimony by former members of $ it is clear that the leadership is incredibly power hungry and lustful, they seek control, if not even world domination.
- deanoplex, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3Scientology is trying to keep the money flowing. Nothing more, nothing less.
- Rotzooi, on 05/09/2008, -1/+1As an atheist, it takes me half a sentence to explain my knowledge about "god": there is none.
Following your argument, I win. - CasaMan, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2Multiple times the spokesman says that people should "find out for themselves" and "make your own decision" but "don't believe the gossip on the Internet" check it out at "One of our 7700 churches or on s.org". This is where the power of COS lies: Indoctrinating (brainwashing) people while those people think they are "finding out for themselves".
These people are searching for spiritual guidance and are totally blank about the cult so they are easy targets.
For what COS is trying to achieve he is a pretty good spokesman.
Now i like to hear your "clear understanding" of what you believe in a few sentences.. I think it's pretty hard..
- mfratz, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4I disagree. I mean I agree that "the light that they were shown in for this effort was less than complimentary," to you and I as well as any "sensible" person watching but that is by far and away not the demographic they are targeting.
- anon78941, on 05/08/2008, -1/+13This man drives me friggin' nuts!
Why does no one really question these people!?- Cid420, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2I suppose they would have to care first...
- crystalblue69, on 05/08/2008, -0/+14it's okay... i'm happy to direct people to where they can learn the truth about scientology (xenu.net, xenutv.com, youfoundthecard.com, whyweprotest.net). Co$ doesn't have to worry about it so much!
- FreddyO, on 05/08/2008, -0/+14A few other Scientology spokespeople (e.g. Gerard Renna, Bob Adams) already acknowledged and discussed the disconnection policy (the one that tears families apart). Didn't anyone tell Tommy Davis? Now he looks like an idiot or a liar!
- Plupsyeah, on 05/08/2008, -0/+16At least he held his temper this time! (A few months in the RPF will do wonders to suppress one's personality.) I seriously don't get why they deny disconnection when they argued before the California Supreme Court AND the Court of Appeals that disconnection is a religious practice protected by the Constitution! (They lost.)
In their judgment, the court said:
"At another stage Scientology auditors convinced him to "disconnect" from his wife and his parents and other family members because they had expressed concerns about Scientology and Wollersheim's continued membership. "Disconnect" meant he was no longer to have any contact with his family."
"Wollersheim was compelled to abandon his wife and his family through the policy of disconnect."
"Freedom of belief is absolutely guaranteed, freedom of action is not."
"...substantial evidence supports the conclusion Scientology has a general policy of encouraging members to "disconnect" from non-
Scientologists who oppose Scientology or express reservations about its teachings."

Tommy lied. Tut tut.- Plupsyeah, on 05/08/2008, -0/+4http://www.gerryarmstrong.org/50grand/legal/woller ...
- deanoplex, on 05/08/2008, -0/+2Good one Plupsyeah! I have not seen this before. CNN, it took you long enough!
- deanoplex, on 05/08/2008, -0/+3It's not like CNN didn't know about all of this. Scientology protest at CNN building Feb 11, 08 (vid)http://laist.com/2008/02/11/anonymous_prote.php
- Delanon, on 05/08/2008, -0/+18Finally, the Main Stream Media is catching on to the Cult!
Good Ol' Tommy didn't answer a single question and gave the typical propaganda lies.
This is an election year, CoS! Don't you think the general public can see when someone is skirting the issues? He buried every question he was asked under an avalanche of used car salesman sludge and rambling rants that were unidentifiable as to having any relation to the question that was asked!
Space aliens and the Disconnect policy are unrecognizable to you? Really? You have no idea what Jenna Miscavige is up to (even though your "church" has her under surveillance)? REALLY?
I bet you never heard of Lisa McPhearson or Operation Snow White or Operation Freakout either.
Name me one religion who can't articulate their core beliefs in a minute or less.
With all of that said, Co$ PLEASE keep Tommy Davis as your PR guy. It makes our cause SO much easier when you shoot yourself in the foot like that.
This was the best present I could have received going in to May 10th EVAR!
Thank you CNN! - bts2free, on 05/08/2008, -1/+10"Scientologist Tommy Davis Pwned by CNN"
- SgtAl, on 05/08/2008, -0/+9I'm surprised that Davey lets Tommy be a mouthpiece for the cult any more since he blew the "handling" of the Panorama report.
- deanoplex, on 05/08/2008, -0/+12Here's more of Tommys sparkling personality:http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-342680287 ...
- Grahamcracker, on 05/08/2008, -0/+9Good on CNN taking on the issue, and with some relatively tough questions too. I just wished those questions were pressed a little harder.
On another note, if you want to get an answer to a question out of a scientologist (instead of dodging and drivel like this Davis guy), talk about psychiatry. They will let you have it, I mean since they are such experts and all. Then bring in the real expert, and let the verbal ownage begin. They would be so buried under their own ignorance and web of lies. That would make for some great TV. - DiggyMagoo, on 05/08/2008, -0/+11Tommy davis, well done looking like you haven't slept in months. Probably since the BBC deal.
CNN step up your game and have jenna on to contradict this rondroid.
Downstats for you CoS. Downstats all around. You think you "handled" this PR flap. Guess again the world sees your con. - Dahakkak, on 05/08/2008, -0/+7Great interview with a not so awake looking Tommy Davis. What bothers me a bit is every interviewer seems to accept the standard answer they're given when the spokesperson is met with the disconnection issues as well as other practices. There is plenty of proof, hell, it's even written on the Scientology WEBSITE which he refers to, that they know what disconnection is.
- SEANWOOKIE, on 05/08/2008, -0/+12Why was he blinking all the time?
- anonymom17, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4He's a liar.
- SpookyPig, on 05/08/2008, -0/+9Anyone who understands any sort of body language knows this guy is full of crap. Just look at how often he blinks and how he looks apprehensive before answering any question.
- bgodley, on 05/08/2008, -0/+10Absolutely vile, this Tommy Davis. I do feel sorry for him. When I was in Scientology I used to see Tommy Davis getting pushed around by David Miscavige all the time. Man barks at dog, dog barks at the moon, nuff said.
- fivo7, on 05/08/2008, -0/+6whenever they bring up thetans disconnection etc he smiles, if someone brought up a "lie" a frown would be more appropriate
scientology just kicked the hornets nest again! - deanoplex, on 05/08/2008, -0/+4..and now for something completely different. It's..... SCIENTOLOGYS' FLYING CIRCUS! (cue band) http://digg.com/people/Scientology_Free_Stress_Tes ...
- twertyto, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5Parishioners, hate chimes, walk into church...this guy's crazy.
- jontalisman, on 05/09/2008, -0/+6Cult dude looks really stressed out and brainwashed. How many times do you really need to blink in a minute?
Btw, why hasn't Scientology cured dwarfism yet?
http://digg.com/odd_stuff/More_Proof_Tom_Cruise_Is ... - GoKings, on 05/09/2008, -0/+6This was the same crazy guy from the BBC documentary on Scientology. He would literally follow them around even on their private time, show up when they were conducting interviews, wait for them at hotels when they were never told they were staying there, etc. The guy is crazy. For any idea how annoying he is, go look at the BBC reporter straight losing it on the guy during an interview.
- GoKings, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5BTW, for anyone that's studied lie detecting, go ahead and watch his eyes at 22 seconds in, where he then gives out the number for how many threats have been made on them. It's clear that he is making it up.
- MomAnon21008, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5Again with the lies... (eyeroll). Yeah, sure -- "Come down to the church... Only look at what WE want you to!"
"Come into my lair," said the spider to the fly.
I don't think so. No, thanks. - darkskinfan87, on 05/09/2008, -0/+6Davis is angry because people don't understand what Scientology is about, yet doesn't want to clear anything up and address these questions himself because he thinks that people should go to a church or read a Scientology book (great, money that I'd have to give them) or go to their website. Oh I get it, he wants you to "think for yourself and make your own decisions." Thanks for the advice Tommy, I just made a decision that Scientology is a big fat cult.
- deanoplex, on 05/09/2008, -2/+2HEY! littlebylittle I can't get a shout to you. This should work now(2nd comment):http://digg.com/world_news/CNN_Headline_News_Piece ...
- zero, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5I think it's great that CNN is covering this. It's about time we get some mass media. Does anybody know when Jenna can start doing other network shows since she signed to be an exclusive with Nightline?
- injesus, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4They should ask them if this theaten business is such nonsense why is the document on wikileaks such a big deal?
- EwMo, on 05/09/2008, -0/+6That guy was a politician and a salesman
and a flat out liar.- Cid420, on 05/09/2008, -1/+2That guy was light blue and baby blue
and flat out navy blue.
- Cid420, on 05/09/2008, -1/+2That guy was light blue and baby blue
- anonymom17, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5Boy. Does he ever look RPF'd.
Too bad he doesn't have the tech to answer a question without looking like a nimrod. - Avrumales, on 05/09/2008, -3/+5Can Xenu has cheeseburger now?
- Cid420, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3NO!
- mrfreeziexp, on 05/09/2008, -0/+8Why does every Scientologist sound the same? They all have that creepy, soulless way about them.
- mbonzo531, on 05/09/2008, -3/+3he sounds like a kid defending santa claus... or bush defending iraq
- incd, on 05/09/2008, -0/+6Is it hacking when you register to a forum and post some links?
- requiem3, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5"Scientology has grown more in the last 5 years than the last 5 decades combined."
A very bold statement, seeing that the last 5 decades include the last 5 years. - LBVictor, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5He has improved his act on one account. At least this time he didn't bring the proof of OSA having a file on every critic, with personal information dug out by PIs to intimidate them, along with him so as to show it on camera, like he did for BBC. But he certainly gives a very good idea how well rested the OSA people are these days, even with full TV interview makeup on them. As to the lies he was telling: It takes being a Scientologist to believe them.
- NikoKun, on 05/09/2008, -0/+7How the ***** can he claim that Anonymous is sending them death threats, or targeting epileptic patients?
It's incredible how far they'll go, how many lies they'll spin... - Blablah01, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5Now i know why he always wears sunglasses (first time i see him without) :-/
What a pathetic fool... - starblink, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4The only thing he did was getting his message across and trying to make Anonymous look like fools...and which he failed at miserably.
- TheMinimalist, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4Anyone who's ever had a family member in Scientology knows exactly what "disconnect" means. I haven't seen my brother in many years. He checks in at family events now and then and spouts his nonsense, usually while really drunk and when everyone rejects it, we don't see him for five or so more years. This has been going on for 27 years, since he joined the "church."
- gordonp, on 05/09/2008, -1/+3So with 238 Diggs and plenty of comments, why isn't this on the front page yet?
- crystalblue69, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2it's a mystery, inn't?
- tommyquinn, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1This guy makes me definitely want to head out to my nearest Scientology Church...but not to join, to protest!! What a tool!!
- tlui08, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1Damn Tommy ain't lookin' too hot. It's like he's been living in a forced labor camp or something...
- fivo7, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2BACK TO THE RPF FOR YOU TOMMY
- Flowbie, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Liar.
- sexydarin, on 07/09/2008, -3/+1Scientology and Kwanza, thought up by 2 crazy criminals. Anybody who would follow another human has to be crazy. Cults worship human leaders. Religion do not.
