- pisceanmars, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23This begs the question, if the school can act in loco parentis regarding discipline and truancy, how can they not be held to the same protective standards as foster homes and the authority of the parent themselves?
- charlief, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18This is absolutely terrible to the worst degree. I think it was originally thought to be a coverup to prevent mass media from blowing the situation up and putting a bad name on the school. In turn, it's bulged it up 10 fold. This also showed that the administration is obviously not going to take responsibility through it's action of 'pretend it didn't happen'.
I believe the administration is fully responsible for not taking the proper action to discipline and prevent this from happening in the first place. The only hope left is someone learned a lesson to prevent this from happening again. - heavensblade23, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Go stick your head in a gas oven.
- taylorhayward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16It would the "teachers" need a re-education in ethics and decency.
- hbweb500, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16I think its the case with many schools. I can attest that my school has covered up disciplinary issues before. We have had multiple gun and bomb threats, each time there is no release to the media and school goes on as normal. The people making the threats stay in school, sometimes not even suspended.
All because our school is focused on budget, and missing a day means less money for an Ohio district. - hifiDesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13And just to clarify what funkywitdasystm is saying for you R-tards (and it will STILL be lost on you), most pedophiles engage in heterosexual adult relationships and their pedophilia is a compulsion/sickness. I don't know if they have a preferences to boy or girls or just go for what's available.
So once again, being gay doesn't mean you're a pedophile... Being a pedophile does mean you're one ***** up cookie. There's a big difference. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Looks like the school has been taking lessons from the Catholic Church!
- Buelldozer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8If it was my first grade boy, and yes I have one, whose assault was covered up there would be HELL to pay, both in and out of the court room.
I would take the non-reporting of this sexually predative attack as the highest form of insult and injury to both myself and my child.
NO ONE would walk away unscathed. Period. - Egotrippin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9You see on Digg, we vote for stories that we find interesting and in this case disturbing, and we click the little digg button. And if enough people Digg it, it becomes popular and makes the front page.
Your Welcome. - RatTrap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8See how ***** up the school systems are now days.
- mushroomtap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Besides the obvious fact that they should have done something to prevent other children being assualted by the 12-year old, they probably also enabled the 12-year-old to continue BEING abused.
He is probably emulating the behavior of some "role model" in his life, as well as taking out anger and confusion from his own abuse. With sexual abusers of that young of an age, it most likely results from being sexually abused themselves.
Sad story, and a WAG OF THE FINGER to this school district and its employees who didn't question their decision. - FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11wow, judging from some of these comments, some tards out there still think that pedophelia (which is what this was) is the same as being gay.
PEDOPHILE != HOMOSEXUAL - Kenzan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Clearly from at least an ethical standpoint, if the school cadre knew of the crime, and failed to report it or take action, and as a result more children were assaulted, they are liable.
- jessenj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Unbelievable how corrupt public officials can be. They'd rather jeopardize such small children and expose them to such mentally scaring trauma then sacrifice a little negative press. Makes me reconsider home schooling.
- Arahka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6How can the school know a crime like that happened and just let it slip under the rug. How could those teacher's and principal's concsience let them sleep at night? If something like that happens you have to do SOMETHING! Even if the kid is special Ed and doesn't know what's going on at least notify the parents and try to get him set up in a school more equipped to handle special behavioural problems. You can't leave a kid like that in general population. I know there's at least one school a county over and less than half an hour away in Carbon Co. that handles behavioural problems. I'm sure there has to be one in Lehigh County too. Everyone involved should be fired and replaced with stricter policies on what to do in situations like that.
I don't agree the school district should have to pay damages though because that's our tax money and you don't take an education away from innocent kids because of something like this. - Egotrippin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5What is wrong with people these days. These teachers and administrators who covered this up deserve a ass-whooping. They could of prevented the ***** up the minds of three young kids. And who are the parents of this 12 year-old kid?!? This story has me more then pissed off.
- sremick, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Sorry to have to agree with the other person (who unfortunately is being dugg-down) but that's not what "begs the question" means. Like he said, you mean "raises the question":
http://wsu.edu/~brians/errors/begs.html - zoomtechtv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I fire everyone that did not report this to the police!!!!!!!!!!
- sideshowRAHEEM, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13"a 12-year-old who had been accused of going into a bathroom stall and sexually assaulting a first-grade boy."
I know what this kid wants to be when he grows up........a priest.
*rim shot* - jftitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Initially, I interpreted this title as "12-yr old girl sexually assults 1st grade boys" I was shocked... I was thinking... damn... horny school girls... always causing trouble... But then...
After actually reading the article.. it clearly doesn't state the sex of the offender, only as the offender is F.H. initials Anywho, this was completely wrong of the school to place this special ed student next to the restrooms only to make it easier for the damn kid to assault more kids.
Clearly this school wasnt thinking the moto right "Think of the Children". - deety, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4returnofmalv - Read the article again. It references rape several times, and F.H. was convicted of rape and will be in a detention center until he turns 18. People may overreact in some cases, but the kid wouldn't be getting locked up for rape if all he'd done was put his balls on the other children's foreheads.
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4btw, my use of the word "tard' referrs only to those who choose to be stupid, not those who are _actually_ mentally impaired.
- Buelldozer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@shodanx
What does your stupid stop sign rant have to do with six year old children being raped at school? Idiot. - BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I'm afraid the people getting dugg down are correct. Begging the Question means, "to keep going back the first question," in other words to use circular reasoning to avoid an answer or confuse the instigator. You used it in the context of "raising the question" and while I see why because grammatically it is not inherently incorrect, the usage that the phrase is generally used for is not what you used it for. Your very own link indicates that you are not correct.
- quetranza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2> Is it really that difficult to imagine a school district being worried about lawsuits from gay rights groups if they punish a gay student for molesting another student?
Yes. Yes it is. - justmenow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2
Someone should take some "web justice" on the teachers and administrators involved, by posting their names with the article.
That way, for the rest of their life, when they get googled, everyone will know what they did. - sonaro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If a 12 year old is a chronic sex offender, what is happening to *him* at home?
- dannyapplesauce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is just absolutely disturbing
- slyrob13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I couldn't agree with you more Buell. I might add "without regard to any ramifications to myself, or any other adults involved even in the sightest way" to the end of your statement.
- optigon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, completely. This isn't typical, natural behavior. The kid had to learn it from somewhere...
While I think the school needs to be in hot water, I think there should be some investigation into this kid's family life. Something's wrong there. - calbff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Firefox abbreviated the title to "School Accused of Covering Up Ass..."
Much more appropriate, I say. - zetamilk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I skimmed through it a few times and this sentence seems to make "F.H." a male:
"The final assault, for which F.H. was found guilty in juvenile court of rape and sent to a detention center until HE turns 18" - aukxsona, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder if any of the parents of the raped children are considering homeschooling, and if not...why do they still have the kids?
School is only a place for pedophiles and control freaks, oh yeah and mindless slaves... - BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't consider it, DO IT. Public schools are funded purely by what kind of rich people live near you when *clearly* all taxes paid toward primary education should go into one big pool to be divided according to need. It's the only way inner-city and rural hell schools will ever have a chance. Until that happens you need to home school or send your kid to a non-religious private school for them to have a chance at a proper education that will open up college opportunities and life-long goals and dreams. If you do home-school, don't neglect the need to keep them socialized. I admit I'm not too versed in the ways of home school so maybe that is already a big part of most programs.
Start saving for college now, too. Don't do what my parents did and squander it for a new spa and gazebo. You can't imagine how hard life can be when you're still having to count your parent's income (thus disqualifying you from financial aid) while not getting a single cent of it. - diggernaught, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sounds like they should bring criminal charges against those who covered up the rape, for being accomplices. Then go after cival.
- 4UIDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, WTF! School teachers are supposed to be mandated reporters. That means they must report child abuse to the child protective services or else face criminal or civil penalties. Never-mind suing the school, the school administration personnel who did the cover-up should be indicted!
- leatherscot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Typical erikf comment - and as normal - repetitive crap from someone who doesnt consider logic and evidence
- RobCrocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Public Schools are a failed institution...
We need to start this whole "educate the kids" thing over from scratch.... - onestyle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2hmmm, not much details about what "actually" happened. i wouldnt be surprised if the entire article was blown out of proportion. When i was in elementary, we did all sorts of stupid things that would make a modern-day legislature cry.
P.S. we should un-ban dodgeball. - hifiDesign, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6@erikf: Welcome to my block list, BIATCH!
- Liam76, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Let me reiterate that I don't think this is normal homosexual behavior, or that gay people in general would be in any tolerant of it.
However if you could take a look here (there are a bunch of similiar lawsuits, this was one I remembered)
http://www.massnews.com/past_issues/2000/Schools/fistrep.htm
You will see how GLAD sued to get some "educators" jobs back after they had a workshop for people as young as twelve that dealt in graphic nature on topics from swallowing to fisting.
Now if you have a group that thinks it should defend someone who thinks it is appropriate to teach that fisting is good to 12 yr olds. Is it plausible that they might wish to defend a child who might have inapropriately touched a child 5 yrs younger, that they might interpret things a little different? - Bleeblaow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1hifi, nobody cares who you block. Would you like to announce every minor event in your life, which I don't give a ***** about, on digg? Please, do that. What's the next button you're going to click. Let me guess, the "digg down" button on my reply.
- steelmaverick, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Wait....a 12 year old assaulted a boy?! WTF?!
- quetranza, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1You mean Sexual Ass...
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Whats an FH?
- shodanx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1yeah, yeah , we know, parents often go ***** whenever stuff happens, we get it
some parents saw some dick-hole on my street going too fast for his taste, pissed off everyone until now there's 3 f*cking stop sign on my street damnit !
parents think the universe orbits around them - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Frigging Horny? *****-up Hugely?
- returnofmalv, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Wonder what his sexual assault act was. Did he pee on another boy? Almost anything these days can be labeled as sexual assault. Why just putting your balls on someones forehead can put you in jail for a very long time.
- pisceanmars, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Begging_the_question
- pisceanmars, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5Sorry xanadude, but "begs the question" is in regard to the logical problem of the school holding two different interpretations of their legal responsibility, so it is correct.
