- spike85, on 05/10/2009, -12/+87When your bitch spends too much its OK to slap her? I didn't need a judge to tell me that.
(As a side note, my bitch has been cheating on me in Vegas all weekend. Her head will have a good swim in the toilet when she gets back.) - k3rfuffl3, on 05/10/2009, -2/+66Sean Connery would agree:
"I don't think there is anything particularly wrong in hitting a woman, though I don't recommend you do it the same way that you hit a man. " - KibblesnBitts, on 05/10/2009, -11/+70And I'm not surprised for some reason.
Oh yeah, it's because Saudi Arabia thinks we're still living in the 900s - twiztidsinz, on 05/10/2009, -0/+54Connery's pimp hand is legendary.
- serif69, on 05/10/2009, -0/+36Yeah, you would never hit a man in the ovaries.
- lazycat, on 05/10/2009, -3/+39I am surprised they have "judges" in Saudi Arabia. What exactly their role in semi-feudal society? Repeat after the King and the clerics?
- twiztidsinz, on 05/10/2009, -3/+29Tonight we're going to party like its 1399
- LexHrynyshyn, on 05/10/2009, -2/+28chris brown approves of this message
- JackSchittt, on 05/10/2009, -6/+31So let me get this right. They deserve to be punished for buying something the government forces them to wear in the first place? Talk about "Damned if you do, damned if you don't."
- Xihix, on 05/10/2009, -3/+20Ugh, stupid Saudis. Being a prominent location for the religion of Islam, they make the religion look bad when they pull ***** like this. Being a Muslim myself, I know ***** like this isn't supposed to be tolerated. Though, there's not much you can do sadly.
- Trickybunny, on 05/10/2009, -1/+18And Saudi Arabia would like to extend a special thanks to all the mothers out there on this fine mothers day...
- compgeek, on 05/10/2009, -1/+16I just wonder what will happen when the oil runs out, Only reason they have anything is their oil money. Without it they will be just another ***** hole in the desert
- scuba7183, on 05/10/2009, -0/+15If you seriously give her a swirly, I expect pics, or a full video
- subtrafusel, on 05/10/2009, -0/+14He's Scottish though; I'm fairly certain Scottish women knock their men around 50/50.

Its better to do it with an open hand. - induren, on 05/10/2009, -6/+19Ok normally I don't respond to foolish comments like this but who on God's green earth have you been listening to or reading?! You are incredibly misinformed. The closest thing we have to Wahhabis in the United States are fools on the religious right, who want women to have as few choices as possible.
- Nickolassc, on 05/10/2009, -2/+14Those women should be making clothing out of camel hair. Heh, buying stuff. Who can afford to do that now a days.
- Redline500, on 05/10/2009, -3/+15Is it also OK to slap the ***** out of judges that make dumb-ass rulings?
- twiztidsinz, on 05/10/2009, -5/+16I think the real outrage here is...
They were let out of the kitchen?!?!?!? - cowboy86, on 05/10/2009, -4/+15Looks like Saudi women are starting to practice free will. Good for them and screw their archaic rituals.
- stereosaurus, on 05/10/2009, -0/+11They're there to sentence the women who end up killing their abusive husbands.
- shujin, on 05/10/2009, -5/+15Utah.
- tjallen, on 05/10/2009, -1/+11"Nobody puts even a fraction of the blame on them [wives/women]," Razine said.
I guess this is how you say they were 'asking for it'. In certain areas a woman must buy a veil to cover her face, but if she spends too much on the veil, she deserves to get smacked in the face that the veil was meant to cover. I feel sorry for these people. - rotundo, on 05/10/2009, -0/+10There are often judges in oppressive states. Their role is to present a facade of justice while maintaining the power structure.
- inactive, on 05/11/2009, -1/+10Give a bitch a dollar, and she'll buy you a pastry. Teach a bitch her place, and she'll make you pie for the rest of your life.
- HurricaneDC, on 05/11/2009, -0/+9Hold it right there Abdullah, don't give her a swirly unless I'm there.
- defenswens26, on 05/10/2009, -0/+9Whoosh
- inactive, on 05/10/2009, -0/+9All theocracies are dictatorships. When law is derived from the supposed word of an unseen deity rather than from the will of the people, you need to call it what it is.
- inactive, on 05/10/2009, -2/+11My exact senario one year ago. Dugg for relevance.
- MikaStar, on 05/10/2009, -3/+12You know what, I wouldn't of believed you until recently. I met a man that travels a lot and lives in an Islamic country and he was telling me that not all Islamic countries are like Saudi Arabia, that some are pretty liberal. Well as liberal as an Islamic country can be, like Qatar, and that not all muslims are barbarians, just some of them, like in Saudi Arabia. And to generalize all Islamic countries to Saudi Arabia is the equivalent of saying all of the USA is like the southern part. It just isn't true.
- RicktheBrick, on 05/10/2009, -0/+9I have read that women can not drive an automobile in Saudi Arabia. I have also read that women can not be in public without either their father or their husband. I do not know what a young woman whose father has died can do. If fact how can a women be minister of education? Does she have either her husband or her father with her at all times? The fact that the Koran promises 72 virgins to martyrs of the faith is degrading to women as it seems there only purpose in life is to supply pleasure to men. After a man has sex with them they are no longer virgins so I guess they are discarded.
- MrInfallible, on 05/10/2009, -3/+11They have branded abayas, wow.
- rotundo, on 05/11/2009, -0/+7Right on. It's funny how quick everyone's jumping on this when domestic violence is still a very significant problem in the US. Yes, we've got good laws about it now, but there are still plenty of people who think it's fine.
Yes, this is something we should criticize about Saudi culture. No, it does not mean the Saudi's are generally evil. - inactive, on 05/10/2009, -0/+7North Korea is also very peaceful. Not much crime or social unrest there at all.
- JoeMondo, on 05/10/2009, -5/+12It's your boy Bush who had his face deep up in Saudi ass.
- aristotle0dude, on 05/10/2009, -1/+8Right, because theocracies never advance women's rights ahead of secular societies.
/sarcasm

A number of those countries ahead of the US, Canada and the UK had and still have a state church.
Also, maybe you should crack open a bible some time and see how Jesus treated treated women relative to the surrounding culture of the first century AD. You might be surprised.
The poor of women has everything to do with the general culture of a country. Don't blame religion for that. If anything, religion has tempered backwards cultural attitudes. - KingGorilla, on 05/11/2009, -1/+8A party?!? Do you know how much that will cost? Does a Saudi have to slap a bitch?
- MikaStar, on 05/10/2009, -1/+8Why would you buy a branded abaya? They're all black and they all look like sheets, I don't see how a brand would matter much or that anyone could really tell, unless there is something I'm missing?
- rotundo, on 05/11/2009, -0/+6Tolerance and multiculturalism does not mean accepting every stupid thing a culture does. Why are you so black-and-white all-or-nothing?
Are there things you don't like about American culture? Want to throw the whole thing away over it? I certainly hope not.
Healthy tolerance tolerates the differences where they are not, for example, human rights violations. Nobody is saying you have to tolerate that. Your comment comes from a place of great ignorance. - rotundo, on 05/10/2009, -1/+7You can respect other cultures without thinking everything they do is okay. Just like I can respect people who don't always do what I think is best (like my mother, father, and you).
But keep living in that black-and-white all-or-nothing world, bud.
For the record, this ruling sucks. But that doesn't mean we have to despise all Islamic culture, any more than I have to despise all American culture because there are a few bits of leftover idiocy (drug war, homophobia, etc.) - redsoxmb545, on 05/11/2009, -1/+7no
- JoeMondo, on 05/10/2009, -0/+6You clearly have a little anger management problem, but not much useful to say.
- inactive, on 05/11/2009, -0/+6I don't get where you get that liberals tend to be tolerant of human rights violations. A person can accept the customs of those who are different but still draw the line where human rights are concerned. You're promoting an artificial dichotomy.
- inactive, on 05/10/2009, -2/+8Domestic Violence: abuse committed against spouse, punishable by law.
State Sanctioned Domestic Violence: abuse committed against spouse, approved by law.
See the diff? Perhaps you should stick to Fox News if you think stories about crimes of the state are too nitpicky. - cfuse, on 05/11/2009, -0/+5This is like asking why someone would buy a designer t-shirt.
- inactive, on 05/10/2009, -0/+4"because they found something that THEY don't like in the Saudi culture"
Whereas conservatives haven't like them all along due to their dark skin, unusual attire, and funny names? - haatu, on 05/11/2009, -3/+8i find this gender feminist reporting laughable.
i'm a pacifist, but it's funny how a man slapping his wife for spending too much is an outrage, where here in north america it's perfectly socially acceptable for a woman to slap a man for any reason at all - aadyss, on 05/11/2009, -0/+5I lived in Saudi Arabia for 7 years. I am aware of 2 cases where women were raped and the men [Saudi nationals] who done the dirty deed were beheaded in public. Not the women. The rest of your comments are just rabble-rousing, are it not?
We could go to anarchy but anarchy lasts such a short time. The people grow weary of it in a short period of time and call for someone to deliver them from the chaos. The government then rapidly slides into an oligarchy. I really don't think you would savor that situation. - spriggig, on 05/10/2009, -2/+7My brother-in-law's wife signed up for a credit card behind his back and *threw out the bills without paying them*. He found out when the wife called him at work and told him that their furniture was being repossessed.
- inactive, on 05/10/2009, -2/+6Yes, they ARE following the teachings of Islam. Just ask them. If you deny it, you're an islamophobe, a bigot, and a racist.
