huffingtonpost.com — Plans for a mile-high tower in the desert, which would be twice the height of the world's tallest building, have been unveiled by the multi-billionaire owner of the Savoy hotel in London...

- AtHomeBoy2000, on 03/31/2008, -1/+17Proof the Saudi's are making too much money on our oil addiction.
- SuperWinner, on 04/01/2008, -1/+4MORE proof, you mean.
- sleepingcow, on 04/01/2008, -1/+3not fully true. yes he got a crap load of money from oil, but he became a billionaire because he invested his oil money in other things(hotels, tech companies, etc) some time ago. if he didn't invest, he would probably "just" be a millionaire not a billionaire.
- MisterFreeze, on 04/01/2008, -2/+0You clearly have some real insight into Prince Asswad al Falafel's finances. Perhaps you can post online somewhere the financial statements from which you drew these conclusions.
- WhereAmI, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2He's right. Maybe if you and the rest of these Diggers I see in these comments were not ignorant you would know that.
- MisterFreeze, on 04/01/2008, -1/+0I still don't see you citing a source for your observation.
- Rotzooi, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1My wife used to have insight in a bank account of an anonymous Saudi, where the interest from his savings accounts would accumulate.
At $35,000,- .... every HOUR.- MisterFreeze, on 04/01/2008, -0/+0Well assuming 4.5% interest (since I have no idea what the real number would be) that means he's got about $6.8B in the account. It's a good chunk of change but still doesn't say where it came from.

- ElAssoWipo, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3And your wars, which require the use of more oil.
- elliotys, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1Isn't it a little obvious he is compensating for something.
- MisterFreeze, on 04/01/2008, -1/+0The nouveau riche never have any class. We have the same problem in the U.S. He's basically the Saudi equivalent of the Beverly Hill Billies.
- ElAssoWipo, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1He's the prince of Saudi Arabia you dufus.
- MisterFreeze, on 04/02/2008, -0/+0I'm well aware of that. And what exactly does it mean? Two generations ago that meant that he had a larger tent than the rest of his tribe.
- ElAssoWipo, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1He's the prince of Saudi Arabia you dufus.

- Rotzooi, on 04/01/2008, -1/+10For a Saudi-gazillionaire with a fear of flying, this is a totally reasonable way to try and become a member of the Mile-High Club.
- MisterFreeze, on 04/01/2008, -1/+0Yeah, plus it would have been a real pain to try to cram a whole harem into an airplane bathroom.
- darkchild82, on 04/01/2008, -2/+7This race to build the tallest building is getting a little boring.
- Ell3, on 04/01/2008, -11/+4Maybe if you American environmentalist extremists would allow some oil drilling and exploration on US soil, you Americans might reap some of those profits. ANWR comes to mind.
- MisterFreeze, on 04/01/2008, -1/+4***** you and the F350 you rode in on.
- khail250, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1you are probably the most hated person on digg. diggers don't digg him down, this way he only gets his message across, because everyone likes to read the super dugg or super buried comments.
- zolthar, on 04/01/2008, -2/+8Oil reserves are drying up, so they start to drill the sky.
- khail250, on 04/01/2008, -1/+1brilliant!
- ScienceDoc, on 04/01/2008, -5/+8This from the folks that brought you Sept 11 and George W. Why do we buy oil from these people?
- bearsandbulls, on 04/01/2008, -1/+2The World's Tallest Building in the middle of the desert, seems kind of like putting all of your eggs in one basket. Aren't they worried about all the terrorists?
- Ganja420, on 04/01/2008, -1/+1Aren't there some major fault lines in the middle east?
- morningmatters, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2And then you wonder why there are so many radicals in Saudi. The Saudi royal family clearly doesn't know how to run a nation. They are good at wasting the oil revenues on themselves while keeping the average Saudi from getting the most basic services. Behold one of the few oil countries where the GDP per capita actually were reduced by half in the last 20 years while oil price skyrocked. Even Bush cannot manage this feat.
- ndesantis, on 04/01/2008, -2/+2im guessing radical christians wont fly planes in to that building
- mikesbaker, on 04/01/2008, -5/+1I hope it falls over. That is too much money.
- jaymzdean, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3Soon there will be photos of a grinning GW holding hands with a man on top of a building one mile high.
- drmobutu, on 04/01/2008, -3/+1A building that tall might offend the gods...it'd be a shame, if something were to happen to it...
- GeorgeWKush, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2With a building this tall, people could parachute to work.
- MisterFreeze, on 04/01/2008, -0/+0Yes, I predict this will become the Mecca of BASE jumping.
- DeskFlyer, on 04/01/2008, -1/+1http://www.evacuchute.com
?? - eclipse007, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1More like from Work to Home.
- Shiftgood, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2Imagine if someone came up to you and said ... "you, hey you... go and build a mile high tower for people to live in and stuff"
i think id just curl up in a ball and cry cry.- Rotzooi, on 04/01/2008, -1/+1Unless you're a lower-caste Indian, I wouldn't worry about it.
- elliotys, on 04/01/2008, -3/+1Aren't they worried about Americans, pissed-off at high oil prices, flying huge jets into it, and destroying it?
- Matters, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1Stupid... they need to turn that thing upside down and get me some more crude
- hablo4u, on 04/01/2008, -1/+2. . . allows millionaires who are afraid to fly to join "the club."
