Saudi King calls for opening up to other faiths
dawn.com — A gathering of Muslim scholars from around the globe got under way here on Wednesday, with call from King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia to counter the challenges of rigidity, ignorance, narrow-mindedness to make the world accommodate and pay heed to the kind message of Islam without reservations, enmity and antagonism.

- Izult, on 06/05/2008, -4/+4At least there's an effort. More than can be said about some of the Christian faiths.
- Wartyboskfapped, on 06/05/2008, -0/+6Well, I'm not a big fan of the Christians, but generally speaking, you can practice alternate faiths in 'Christian' countries without being murdered, imprisoned, etc, which is not the case in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Indonesia, etc.

- electrosheep, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2Yes, in Indonesia you can practise your faith if it is not Islam, because Indonesia is a secular Muslim country. My mother was born and raised there and was invited to Christian friends' Christmas parties, vice versa with her Christian friends being invited to the Eid Mubarrak festivals. It was a harmonious nation concerning religion... It's these stupid fanatics that are giving us a bad name.

- JAVandiver, on 06/06/2008, -0/+2I say he should put his money where his mouth is and decry some to the truly horrific practices of Wahabism. Change your country first Abdullah, because once petroleum only becomes necessary for manufacturing due to biofuels, electric transportation, and hydrogen fuel cells, no one will think twice about glassing the entire Middle East if you all cannot settle down and play nice.
- kojaa, on 06/08/2008, -0/+1how about the holy godsend king abdullah can stop dictating and oppressing the people of his own country, and let them choose their owm leader.
