Saudi Arabia Rejects Bush's Begging
money.cnn.com — Oil prices surged nearly $3, reaching a record high of almost $128 a barrel Friday as Saudi Arabia rejected President Bush's call to increase production. Is Bush this ignorant? Why would they increase production? They are making record profits and laughing in our face about it.

- richness, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1This is the answer to the "increased production" question: "With diesel prices outpacing gasoline, refiners in the United States have been ramping up production of diesel and sending it abroad. That has displaced some domestic gasoline production, helping push gas prices higher". Clearly, it is not a refinement issue, it's a capitalistic market choice. If we were to raise tariffs on exported fuels to astronomical rates, as well as abolish the federal tax on fuel, we would have much lower prices, (seems impossible, while OIL $$$ lines the pockets of so many politicians - Left and Right). Hard not to condemn a free market capitalist, due my regard for economic freedom, but this is not socially responsible particularly when the "free market" has become a cartel, and an elitist club. There is no competition. There is no REAL, honest R&D for alternatives. The oil regime is a scam, and we will remain the victims until we actually get off our asses.
