- darnoux13, on 09/15/2008, -0/+4Don't be torn, just do it!!
- brad3378, on 09/15/2008, -0/+2I had to giggle after reading the words "Torn" and "Prostitution" in the same sentence.
- Richandler, on 09/15/2008, -0/+4The business community opposes it? That's funny because technically prostitution is a business! I say the more freedom the better.
- TunaFishGangsta, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1Read the article a bit more and it says "much of the business community".
A reporter for a major newspaper or TV station stops at your bakery and asks "Are you, owner of Bigg's Breads, for or against this proposition to legalize prostitution?"
Of course they will, usually, say they are against it. Just like most politicians will say they are against it and battle for tougher laws against it, former Governor Spitzer anyone?
All it takes is 5 preachers to tell 500 of their loyal sheep to avoid X business or politician and they will feel it. However, side with the evangelicals and you are endorsed. Idiots in numbers.

- toetagger, on 09/15/2008, -1/+4At least prostitutes admit dealing with them you'll get *****.
- welliwonder, on 09/15/2008, -0/+6Legalize it and regulate it, like Nevada!
- wynja, on 09/15/2008, -0/+1Oh, but we can always just keep borrowing money from China to pay for locking up the Johns and hos. You know China loves paying for our outrageous prison system. It makes them look better in the world's eye to have the "freest" country on the planet have a higher prison inmate to civilian ratio.
- Ninh, on 09/15/2008, -0/+2Don't discount the benefits for the community by way of being able to properly tax the income and the ability of prostitutes to buy health insurance. A further benefit is the ability of the DA and police to focus the resources they don't have to waste on petty prostitution anymore on the criminal environment that often comes along with illegal prostitution: narcotics, human trafficking and violence.
- wynja, on 09/15/2008, -0/+2Free the puntag!!!!
- Paultards, on 09/15/2008, -2/+1It may be a good idea, and a wonderful new vocation for Nancy Pelosi..Put those botox treatments to good use
- TunaFishGangsta, on 09/16/2008, -0/+3Legalizing is a winning situation for everyone involved.
Tax revenues generated.
Police can focus on real crimes.
The world's oldest profession isn't going anywhere regardless of legality or not.
The workers and clients will be better protected from possible attack/robbery since they can just use credit cards and even applications for screening purposes.
Diseases would be better prevented, clearing up the medical establishment for people that need it.
The only problem will be from the religious whacks who still believe that jesus rode the dinosaurs.
