- prolifemama, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4We have the same problem where I live, with a so-called Catholic University inviting Ellen Goodman, a rabidly anti-Catholic, proabort journalist to speak on campus, in the interest of 'diversity.' During her Q&A (her talk was about women in the field of journalism, and she promised not to say anything incendiary about other issues), a questioner asked her about Roe-v-Wade. She responded that Roe-v-Wade should be protected, and received a standing ovation...from a crowd made up, in part, of "Catholics".....during October, Respect Life month on the Catholic calendar. Heavy sigh.
People, remember - we are IN the world, not OF it.
This Archbishop needs to pick another honoree, and if he does not, if he defends his choice, he should be replaced with an archbishop who actually upholds the teachings of the Catholic Church. - blessedwith6, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3I'm severely sick of people who call themselves Catholic openly snubbing their noses at Church teaching. The Church is not a democracy. I think, especially here in America, Catholics have become too Americanized and think if they make a big enough stink or openly protest enough, it will evenly result in the changing of Church doctrine. They couldn't be more wrong.

Bless their hearts. I shuttle back and forth between amusement and sputtering indignation. Ever been at a parish council meeting, mention some prolife legislation that passed in your state, and look up to see your pastor's and RE's eyes meet and start rolling?
That puts faith into a person!
By the by, are you currently studying JPII's Theology of the Body, with Christopher West's wonderfully insightful help? It's taking the Church by storm, grassroots first. - prolifemama, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Amen, ever so come!!!
