- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -0/+112Outcome of this: nothing
- Daxx22, on 07/04/2009, -1/+98I'm sure there will be a strongly worded letter from the UN.
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -3/+82***** north korea
- efrancesco, on 07/04/2009, -0/+71Kim Jong is really pushing his luck!
- Lobsterfish, on 07/04/2009, -7/+73We should just shoot one down and see what he does
- jaytek13, on 07/04/2009, -1/+60Do they just randomly fire missiles with no idea where they'll land? One of these times they're going to accidentally hit Japan and that will be the end of that.
- NervousEnergy, on 07/04/2009, -4/+61Don't worry; the UN will send another STRONGLY worded letter!
In all seriousness, this is just cage rattling right now. But no one dares to do anything but send sanctions or letters, because any military action would most likely provoke a large military action from the North Korean forces. They may not have the most advanced military development; but they have the numbers to make up for it.
Economic sanctions do not work; they just punish the already starving population, and give their media more fuel to hate the West.
There are several missiles pointed straight at Seoul, and any sort of first strike by the US would likely result in the city being wiped off the map. Millions would die. It would be a disaster for the region.
Any sort of full fledged invasion would also send millions of North Korean refugees into China; something which the northern Chinese provinces would have difficulty coping with. And you'd also have a vast number of deaths on both sides; which we want to avoid at all costs.
It's just not a question of going in full force; that isn't a sensible course of action unless the situation degrades exceedingly.
It's a difficult situation. - PeanutCheeseBar, on 07/04/2009, -1/+48The WHOLE Japan?
- TwwIX, on 07/04/2009, -1/+47Naw, he is just celebrating the 4th of July.
- Bitties, on 07/04/2009, -0/+42I accidentally the whole Japan :\
- fuzzybeard, on 07/04/2009, -0/+39I think Japan would bypass current military technology and go straight for Gundams.
- ipushmycar, on 07/04/2009, -0/+39"accidentally"
- Zaxcomp, on 07/04/2009, -0/+34No, that would be genuine sabre-rattling, leading only to warfare. Interfering with military tests is something we would consider a provocative act if done against us.
- BrownieMix, on 07/04/2009, -1/+34If North Korea ever invaded South Korea, they would feel the wrath of China, Russia, NATO, The UN, The United States, and many other countries. It would be the end of North Korea as we know it. Kim Jong is crazy, but not that crazy.
- Zaxcomp, on 07/04/2009, -1/+33Them?
How many thousands of families in NK have caused you such great woe that you need to "blow them off the map"? If you want to influence another country, have the grace to do it in a manner that doesn't involve killing civilians. - akchrs, on 07/04/2009, -1/+31<frantically eating popcorn>
- DirtyVicar, on 07/04/2009, -2/+29"Russia and China, both close to North Korea, expressed concern over an 'escalation of tension in the region', the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement after a meeting in Moscow."
If South Korea is invaded this will probably be upgraded to "deeply troubled over the latest actions". - stereosaurus, on 07/05/2009, -0/+27You really should consider the Monster Cables, they will without a doubt deliver the kind of performance you're paying for with a rocket like this.
- vault, on 07/04/2009, -0/+23NK sabre-rattling on the 4th of July, tsk tsk...
- rivalius13, on 07/04/2009, -3/+23The UN has offered up their harshest punishment to North Korea, saying they "aren't mad, just disappointed".
- Xaevier, on 07/04/2009, -4/+24Bring it little man!
- masterofshadows, on 07/04/2009, -0/+19Japan does have a military, but by their laws it can only be used in self-defense, Furthermore, we, along with other allied powers, have treaty obligations to defend them from aggressors. North Korea would be in for one hell of a war if China doesn't back them.
- goodbick, on 07/04/2009, -0/+19I can't BELIEVE that son of a bitch obama launched missles at us! and on the fourth of july no less!
oh wait....
idiot. - sublimeparanoia, on 07/04/2009, -1/+19its actually seven now this story is a tad outdated
- KahRahTay, on 07/04/2009, -1/+18"Every NK civilian wants every American dead"
wow. just wow, your ignorance is staggering.
i'm sure that you wholeheartedly embrace everything your government tells you without question too. /s
for the sake of preserving my faith in humanity, i think i'm gonna just choose to believe that you are a troll, and not an idiot of such breathtaking magnitude. - twiztidsinz, on 07/04/2009, -4/+19I hated how Obama pussed out when dealing with those pirates...
- twishart, on 07/04/2009, -0/+15Whoa whoa, first things first - we need an online petition.
- borez, on 07/04/2009, -0/+15Interesting plan... Interesting indeed.
- lifeasariver, on 07/04/2009, -1/+15They don't have oil.
- specialK16, on 07/04/2009, -3/+17I'd like to blow YOU off the map, ipushmycar.
- rabidjester, on 07/04/2009, -1/+14Sadly, there's really not much more we can do. Push for even tighter sanctions, maybe.
Unless lil kim texts back "ZERG RUSH KEKEKEKE^_^" - inactive, on 07/04/2009, -2/+15Unlike Afghanistan and Iraq. North Korea and Iran can fight back with real weapons.
- SoCalCove, on 07/04/2009, -0/+12You know they actually built a full size Gundam?
lol, careful what you say, we might just get our wish :D - borez, on 07/04/2009, -0/+11I too like to fill my house with gas and light random matches.
- dancantone, on 07/04/2009, -0/+11What about your poor brothers and sisters who endured the cruelty from that dictatorial regime?
Are they to be part of the parking lot as well?
It's more complex than just a red button. - inactive, on 07/04/2009, -7/+18There's this country in the "Middle East" called "Iraq" and about 8 years ago the US had a president that underestimated the ferocity of such a conflict. How did things turn out?
Let's just say Iraq didn't have a million man army nor did they have nuclear weapons.
Here's a crayon and a drawing book, what could happen in N.Korea? - Charlotte_Web, on 07/04/2009, -6/+16"Kim Jong is really pushing his luck!"
Yes, if he keeps it up, Obama will be forced to write him a very stern letter! - SarcasticPirate, on 07/04/2009, -1/+11I disagree SoCalCove. Relations between China and North Korea have really started to go to ***** in recent years. Everybody in America and Britain can scoff at a North Korean nuclear MRBM, but the South Koreans, Japanese, and Chinese are all well within striking distance of Lil Kim's wrath. Beijing has a metropolitan area of 11,940,000 persons, and don't want that kind of a population center threatened by a ***** insane dictator with a inferiority complex and some nuclear missiles.
And Russia is very much concerned because for fifty years it has been ***** bricks over the possibility of an invasion from China. People fail to realize not only that Marxist/Soviet communism and Maoist communism are very different things, but that things were fairly tense between the two nations during the Cold War - so much so that the thought of a southern invasion lessened the likelihood of a Soviet invasion of Western Europe, especially after Nixon visited China. - kolobcreek, on 07/04/2009, -2/+12I guess NKorea is going to get a free fireworks show from the US later this year huh?
- unorginalityftw, on 07/04/2009, -0/+10Yeah, North Korea is pretty much the one thing most of the heavy-weight countries actually *agree* on...
- SoCalCove, on 07/04/2009, -0/+9Actually Japan is going through some debates presently in exploring whether its time to remove their 'self defense force' policy and adopt a more flexible military that goes beyond local defense.
NK is actually fueling the military think tanks in Japan because of the very crap they are doing now. (it still doesnt fly too well with that one rocket over Japan). - trevor98, on 07/04/2009, -1/+9So, when does Japan start re-militarizing and would anybody really stand in their way?
- jeriqo, on 07/04/2009, -0/+8No they don't.
- ninzo09, on 07/04/2009, -0/+8no way man, they're dirty
you might get something - slink1982, on 07/04/2009, -2/+10whatever happened to just invading a country on the premise they MIGHT have had nuclear weapons?
Surely someone needs to step up and sort this country out, this Kim-Jong caracter just sounds like a right old charmer, he seems to be getting away with quite a bit in comparison to what's gone on in the middle east in recent years.
I like him. - Prism123, on 07/04/2009, -0/+8china and south korea would both probably not want Japan to re-militarize since they are both still extremely mistrustful of Japan after their past histories. This probably stems from the fact that unlike Germany which fully admits to and recognizes the atrocities they committed Japan likes to sweep what they did in Korea and China under the rug and pretend it never happened which makes it hard to reconcile and move on.
- tharju, on 07/04/2009, -1/+9Kim is an attention whore. He wanted to wipe Hawaii out on July forth with his primitive rocket missiles. right. I hope media and our president ignore him and don't even mention about that guy.at all.
- Anomaly100, on 07/04/2009, -3/+11Obviously, you think we need a 3rd war. Not a great idea...
- rtypo, on 07/04/2009, -1/+9No.
