SFO-to-Miami American Airlines flight makes emergency landin

mercurynews.com — Authorities say an American Airlines jet has made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport after the pilot reported smoke and the smell of fuel in the cockpit. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says American Flight 442 was carrying hazardous material in its forward cargo area.
