- jhbarr, on 07/02/2009, -0/+93I hope she is dumb enough to access hidden accounts so the feds can get more of the money back and throw her in jail as well.
- Aroundtown27, on 07/02/2009, -5/+81I think that this is fair. It is highly unlikely that she wasn't involved with or had knowledge about the scam.
- digxag, on 07/03/2009, -0/+70Poor, homeless, $2.5 millionaire Ruth Madoff.
- absurdist, on 07/03/2009, -0/+64How she managed to negotiate a deal with the feds that left her with $2.5 Million is beyond me. She worked with the books in Madoff's organization. She knew what the ***** was going on. At best she should be doing hard time; at worst she should be out on the street with a tin cup.
- RudeTurnip, on 07/03/2009, -1/+52In a different part of the world or in a different time, the entire family would have been beaten and executed by a mob of people.
- RobertWright, on 08/13/2009, -1/+41I hate to see anyone thrown on the streets, but in this case,,,,,,,,,"I FEEL GOOD"!!!
- Rahaz, on 07/03/2009, -0/+38***** her.
- Junkey, on 07/03/2009, -0/+35Where will her butler live?
- davewelsh79, on 07/03/2009, -0/+34Now she'll have to make due with mere millions and millions of dollars for the rest of her life. It won't be as swanky of a life as she's used to, but I think she'll make ends meet.
I say take it all and put her on welfare.
Just because she's "used" to living better that means she should be given a lot of money that rightfully belongs to Madoff's clients? Go work as a Walmart greeter. - jrm125, on 07/03/2009, -0/+30Good bitch, now get a JOB
- gigi52, on 07/03/2009, -0/+25Guilty or gullible? Hard to say, but she still has assets. Not like a lot of their victims.
- medfreak, on 07/03/2009, -3/+28You have an odd sense of what is "best" and what is "worst".
- RegularUser, on 07/03/2009, -0/+25Naaa, I don't believe they have any account in the Cayman Islands. No way.
- MidnightTide, on 07/03/2009, -0/+24she was the bookkeeper - she had to have known what was going on!!!
- memper, on 07/03/2009, -2/+23One person kept books on 50 billion?
There was a whole brigade of slimeballs on this one. - wannaBdug, on 07/03/2009, -0/+20What goes around...
- Usatrash, on 07/03/2009, -0/+17BURN HER SHES A WITCH!
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -0/+14Wait let me get time to gather my sadness to cry.....HAHA!
- sherm420, on 07/03/2009, -0/+14the biggest ponzi scheme is the us federal reserve, to be technical.
- maz2331, on 07/03/2009, -1/+14She still has 2.5M - she can still live pretty damn well.
- bicyclethief, on 07/03/2009, -0/+12Yeah, 2.5 M is a lot to the rest of us. But I'm pretty sure she's accustomed to a far greater lifestyle than 2.5 M can afford.
- pcpimpster, on 07/03/2009, -0/+12What were you expecting? Proximity mines and pungie stick pits...
- portnoy, on 07/03/2009, -0/+12I don't think it matters whether or not she knew what was going on, the fact is that she is sitting on money and property stolen from others who did most certainly not know of the scams. That money and property needs to be recovered from her and everyone else that profited form the scams.
- teddtech, on 07/03/2009, -0/+11Big ***** deal . She will just move into one of their other 15 houses until they seize those too...
- homercles337, on 07/03/2009, -0/+11Running a scam of this magnitude for this long requires that she knew.
- skyer, on 07/03/2009, -1/+11comes around
- Meatkin, on 07/03/2009, -1/+10F*** her tbh. How about she give some of that $2.5 mil to some of the people her husband scammed? No? Thought not. Stupid bitch.
- jrm125, on 07/03/2009, -1/+9Couldn't agree more. She knew what was going on, how could she not have? She'd have to be one dumb, Sarah Palinesque idiot to overlook that *****.
I would've loved to see her kicked to the curb with nothing. Serves her right.
Welcome to the other half you whore. - warpsmith, on 07/03/2009, -0/+8Good.
- TheVirus, on 07/03/2009, -0/+8Good, then she'll spend it all and end up broke. Maybe she'll die of starvation while wearing her Gucci sunglasses.
- AtraNoxVII, on 07/03/2009, -0/+8And then hits you in the back of the head.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -0/+7U.S.A. has no jurisdiction in Israel.
- DaDrake, on 07/03/2009, -0/+7According to several WSJ articles, the prosecutors couldn't tie the money to any of Madoff's operations. Even the money she was earning was seized. So my guess, it comes from money she earned before they were married or perhaps a family trust fund.
Furthermore, Madoff issued fake transaction notes within his own corporation. This is all done electronically now. It's very plausible that even the accountant wouldn't know what accounts are fraud and which aren't. Combined that with his sociopathic personality that allows him to lie to anyone... it wouldn't surprise me that his wife didn't catch on. After all, there has been serial killers that killed dozens of people, and had the picture perfect American family. - teamr, on 07/03/2009, -2/+8They let her keep 2.5 million because she willingly gave up all her assets instead of dragging it out over months and years in court. The topic says she was evicted but she wasnt forcefully evicted. They came to this agreement weeks ago and she moved out before they changed the locks
- steelreserve211, on 07/03/2009, -0/+6I'm sure Motel 6 left a light on for her. Bwahahaha.
- FelixdaaHack, on 07/03/2009, -0/+6I didn't know until yesterday that the SEC official that was supposed to investigate Madoff was marrying his niece! Some shady *****.
http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/ind ... - RandomGorilla, on 07/03/2009, -0/+6Couldn't have happened to a nicer piece of trash.
- ZeeZee2k, on 07/03/2009, -0/+6How am I supposed to feed my children with only $2.5mil?
- jamangold, on 07/03/2009, -0/+5... I knew that I would, now.
- spazticmidget, on 07/03/2009, -0/+5women bitch about how smart they are all day, but anytime it comes to jail time they just play stupid.
- deathcapt, on 07/03/2009, -2/+7I think we should bring back public punishment for the families of the accused. Like seriously, so much more satifying to see this smug piece of ***** be dragged through the streets, have rotten food thrown at him , and then beaten to death.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -0/+4http://nelsonhaha.com/
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -0/+4With a rusty chainsaw, still in its splintering wooden crate - sideways.
- RudeTurnip, on 07/03/2009, -1/+5She has to make a living somehow.
- hmunkey, on 07/04/2009, -0/+4Who gives a ***** if she knew? If my friend gave me stolen money and I bought a car, it would be taken away. It's not mine.
- danydral, on 07/03/2009, -0/+4it was about time.
- Bitties, on 07/03/2009, -0/+4So good, so good, I got you
- TheKingInYellow, on 07/03/2009, -0/+4OOOOOOOOOOOOW!
- jasonalangraves, on 07/03/2009, -0/+4If the Feds were so interested in tracking down every last penny this family may have secretely stowed in various locations, they wouldn't have given this lady so much time to clear out of the place, and consequently the contents of any hidden safes, hidden account details, or other items of high value.
It's amazing that they left her with a million or so. She's hardly suffering. The shame is, it seems likely he has many accomplices who will never be brought to justice. -
