Russia ’s deputy military chief Anatoly Nogovitsyn said the NATO warships’ entrance to the Black Sea is a “serious threat to our security,” Hurriyet daily reported on Thursday

- jb1965, on 08/29/2008, -3/+2I'm not real good at moral relativism. Our ships are in the Black Sea with humanitarian support for Georgia. As well as being first class warriors, the US military is also the world's meals-on-wheels! The Russian navy steaming toward the Gulf of Mexico would surely be an act of war. Who would the Russians be offering humanitarian support to in the neighborhod of the Gulf of Mexico? Seriously! So, being the good natured souls we are, we would give them plenty of time to turn around and leave before we blow them out of the water!!!
- Bagos1, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3Well they could have steamed over to the Gulf when Katrina hit. There were a few people that needed some help then....still do actually, so I guess they still could.

Turkish writer says lets not get stuck in the middle. - mathewsj, on 08/28/2008, -1/+3this is about 1, that's right one, US Coast Guard, that's right Coast Guard, cutter, that's right cutter. Not multiple ships, Not US Navy, Not carriers, Not cruisers, Not destroyers, a fracking cutter half the size of a frigate, not armed with missiles.
- HalleBurton, on 08/28/2008, -1/+4what is a Coast Guard ship doing so far from our coast? i didn't even know that they had ocean crossing ships. isn't this something the navy should be doing, if at all?
- muckemuck, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3http://www.garynorth.com/public/3927.cfm it's not just coast guard cutters steaming around those parts. Whether the report I linked to is 100% accurate or not, there's a LOT of heavy ships in that area.
- jb1965, on 08/29/2008, -1/+1Nope, them are warships. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,409521,00.html But that's not a problem. We regularly use our warships for humanitarian purposes. That's one of the many reasons our is the greatest country in the world with the greatest warriors on the face of the planet!
- jb1965, on 08/29/2008, -1/+1So the cops are packing heat while they try to help Georgia recover from the mugging Russia just put on them. So what?!
- cyberdork, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1Let's just call them Gunboats...
