- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -6/+23This conflict, again, has been orchestrated from beginning to end by neoconservatives and their counterparts in England (thank you telegraph), the expatriated oligarchs of russia. We are putting sanctions on russia and confronting them in the black sea, and putting missile shield weapons on their borders for a terrorist act that Israel and the united states commited from georgia against russian citizens. It was planned from the beginning This escelation will result in the death of millions of polish catholics and eastern orthodox christians in the land from which the neocons forefathers came and believe they still have a claim. It's a vendetta of neoconservatives and their christian zionist soldiers. It is not Russia escalating this conflict. They are responding. American neocons, Israel, and british banking interests that funded the oligarchs are pushing for the deaths of hundreds of millions. This is no ideological struggle. Our governments are more similar to eastern european countries and russia than they've ever been. I can't believe what we've let these people do to this country and the world the next generation will live in. Russia's response is to our provocations in the israel/ U.S. backed terrorist attacks in Georgia, our coercion of poland to take the missile shield, out movement of naval forces to the black sea to support the tyrant saakashvili, and it has all been planned by the neocons.
- Hangly, on 08/29/2008, -2/+15As controller of the second largest oil reserves, Russia really has the upper hand on this one. The US controls (most of) the oil in the Middle East, but that oil has to supply much of the industrialized world. Europe, Japan and China still need Iranian and Central Asian oil. Russia is energy-independent, so we can't exactly retaliate in kind.
- gorospe, on 08/29/2008, -0/+10I'm tired of governments pulling around natural resources as chips in the global poker game. Now is the time for ALTERNATIVE SUSTAINABLE AND RENEWABLE ENERGY. Enough of the world sucking the proverbial oil teat.
- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -0/+7I think you're thinking of the amount they have left alone, untapped, under the ground for the future.
http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0872964.html - inactive, on 08/29/2008, -0/+6Most of those oil reserves are not tapped and play no part in the world economy right now. You're using a projection of the future to make what's currently happening seem more important. They can't cut europe off from what they're not supplying yet.
- Kent4jmj, on 08/29/2008, -1/+6How about "Blowback" for really stupid foreign policy towards Russia.
- King0007, on 08/29/2008, -2/+4This will hurt....if they do this...watch oil go through the roof....along with all other commodities....hope you bought some silver and gold.
- jeffiek, on 08/29/2008, -1/+3Oil is fungible. They can turn off their wells and reduce the world's supply, but they can't cut off Europe or any other specific location. Disrupt it for a short time while traders re-route deliveries, but that's about it.
And if they shut of the wells? They shut off their own income. - inactive, on 08/29/2008, -2/+4I found a rendition of this joke on the internet. My dad told me it when I was a very young lad. His version was much better.
A man went to Africa to do some game hunting.
While there, he hired a young native to accompany him as his guide.
Soon, a large flock of birds flew overhead and the hunter took aim.
The guide grabbed his arm and said "Oh,no! These are foo birds and to shoot one means terrible things will happen to you! The man figured that was only a superstion of the natives and shot one down. Then the rest of the flock returned and pooped all over him.
He hollared at the boy, "I must have some water right away to wash this mess off." The boy said "Oh no! To wash the crap of the foo bird off means sudden death immediately! Again the hunter ignored his advice, found water and got cleaned off.
Sure enough he dropped dead then and there.
The moral of this story is "If the foo *****, wear it." - inactive, on 08/29/2008, -2/+4That should do wonders for the Russian economy....
/facepalm - inactive, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2Don't be one of them like that then. Even though to this point I have not thought that you are.
- Bagos1, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2I was wondering when the reaction to NATO's obvious encroachments into Russian sphere's of influence...and even actual borders was going to be addressed by them.
Now I'm wondering how serious about fighting they are. So far, it's been the US that has blinked.....IE the diversion of the two warships ("relief ships"). I wonder how long the blinking contest goes on before somebody takes a shot.
.....and then how many shots from both sides and then what kind of weapons get used. - Falldog, on 08/29/2008, -2/+3Russia may cut off flow of money to the East
- Ninh, on 08/30/2008, -0/+1You do realize that they sell to Europe, for Euros? And they can't steal all the german cars they want, so they have to buy some as well.
- YodaJones, on 08/30/2008, -0/+1Hard currency? I hope you are not talking about dollars. There is nothing HARD about dollars dude.
Besides, what do the Russians need hard currency for? What do you think they are going to buy? - atdigg, on 08/30/2008, -0/+1Blowback works both ways....
- Ninh, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1The ones who will cry most will be the russians if they cut themselves off from their only reliable source of hard currency.
- Vapid, on 08/29/2008, -1/+1shut up you ***** liar
- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -1/+1That chance came and went 30 years ago, that's what you get when you hire selfish & greedy instead of wise leaders.
And well do it again ! - Hangly, on 08/29/2008, -1/+1I was factoring in Iran also. Maybe that's premature, but that's the direction I see this going.
- enantiodromia, on 08/29/2008, -2/+2I try not to confuse "Zionists" with "Jews".
"Zionists" have a political agenda: Jewish Zionists want absolute control of the Holy Lands. Christian Zionists believe that the Rapture won't happen until the Jewish Zionists get their land back, so they help them achieve this goal. - inactive, on 08/30/2008, -1/+1Cut off the oil and gas supply, highlight the globalist agenda and all that it entails(1984) to the worlds dumbed down media controlled peoples and once the message is across switch it back on again.
- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -2/+2Can't we all just get along, YES, if most of you are dead !
- inactive, on 08/30/2008, -1/+1If they want to hurt the west they'll need to stop all sales of oil and reduce the global supply. It will hurt everyone else too, especially developing countries that rely on trade like China, but it would be the only way they could actually do something.
If they stop selling to the west they'll sell it to other people who will just buy from russia instead of buying from somewhere else. The west will buy the supply from the 'somewhere else' that the 'other people' stopped buying. - inactive, on 08/29/2008, -2/+1zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
- inbyronwetrust, on 08/29/2008, -1/+0It would be great to see some positive progress during the inevitable depleting oil for the west's high demands. Perhaps additional R & D funding for alternative fuel or improved public transportation.
Realistically it probably means more enemies, more taxes , high gas prices, and probably another war to fund. - inactive, on 08/29/2008, -3/+1I gave you a thumb's up for being half right.
- YodaJones, on 08/29/2008, -6/+3***** yeah. Cut off their oil and watch the European cry. This is a good move.
- gorospe, on 08/29/2008, -7/+2Why does everyone always have to blame the jews...
