Russia Threatens Military Response to US Missile Defence
timesonline.co.uk — Russia tonight threatened to retaliate by military means after a deal with the Czech Republic brought the US missile defence system in Europe a step closer. The threat followed quickly on from the announcement that Condoleezza Rice signed a formal agreement with the Czech Republic to host the radar for the controversial project.

- BabyWookie, on 07/08/2008, -9/+3That's funny. We have been militarily and politically isolating them ever since their gained independence from the USSR, are now putting a missile shield on their border, but some how, they are the ones to blame for restarting the Cold War? We deserve much better than the Neocons.

- BabyWookie, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Just in case any one is confused, because they equate the USSR with Russia: Russia did gain their independence from the Soviet Union, a political entity that, for seventy years, tried to destroy Russia's spirit and cultural heritage, and giving away its territory (talking about Khrushchev "gifting" Crimea to Ukraine in 1958.) FYI, the Russian parliament, under Yeltsin, was one of the first ones to declare their Independence from the rotting corpse of the USSR.
At the same time, Russia had assumed liability for all of USSR's economic and political responsibilities, paying off the enormous amounts of debt. Back at that time, the United States and NATO had made a lot of promises to them, such as a promise not to expand the Alliance eastward and to keeping honoring the ABM treaty. Gee, I wonder what makes the Russians feel a little bit on edge these days?
- flogistan, on 07/08/2008, -4/+3Things appear to be going great if we'd stay out of their natural circle of influence and stop trying to start wars just because putin kicked the oligarchs out. They've been trying to over throw his government since he did. The oligarchs are scum and Yeltsin was a drunken retard. It is putins success that has forced their hand to try and start this war with russia sooner than later.
- slavix, on 07/09/2008, -2/+2Save your phony care for Russia for someone else. Russia has done very well with Putin as president (unlike what they tell you in western corporate media). And remember It is Your country that is starting wars all over the planet, not Russia.

- Gandalff, on 07/08/2008, -3/+4As The Old Russia continues to Rule the apologist here in the USA will no doubt blame it on the Right Wing Conspiracy or (neocons) The Liberals love that word. They hate, Responsibility, duty, Honor things that Russia Promised they would do before America would commit resources to it's economy. Besides, they are a very rich country if they would let their people get involved instead of seizing their companies that they built, like the oil, Gem, Steel corporations continue to let them run things and just tax the stuffing out of them like we do to our own people....LOL
This shield should be nothing more than assurance that when Iran goes Nuclear that the bombs can't get past them. That's all.... Stop crying- flogistan, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3Yes, yes... people will notice it's neocons... and the oligarchs putin booted were the exact same contingent in russia. "responsibility, duty" Ha ha. If the responsibility and duty they hate is performing oral on international financiers who go straight to israel after he kicks them out of the country ... more power to them. You're a joke. when you say "the people" don't you mean the oligarchs? Isn't that what you're standing up for? Putin was the best thing to happen to the russian people in about a hundred years.
- flogistan, on 07/08/2008, -6/+4The grand chessboard. This is the only war the neocons really want. Keep this in mind... Iran, and this missile shield that doesn't even work is going to turn into a land grab for the pale of russia. They want a nuclear war now while they think they can win it Orthodox christian slavs are the natural circle of influence of russia. They're trying to start this war. They are arming Poland, and putting this shield in there to destabilize the region because they want a full scale war to hide the economic crisis, and for a land grab as described by zbigniew brzezinski in the grand chess board. They are backing russia into a corner anyone would have to respond to. They are trying to humiliate them. The neocons have taken brzezinski's book to heart. If you have kids... just keep thinking that these assholes and their greed are going to get them killed.
- hotcoffeeburns, on 07/08/2008, -3/+3russia's bark is worse than its bite
- flogistan, on 07/08/2008, -3/+2So let's start a war with them for the oligarchs.
- 1randomguyO8, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2Yeah but they have invaded countries before. Although to me it does sound like the same ol rhetoric.
- bigposer, on 07/08/2008, -0/+6Why are US taxpayers paying for a missile defense shield in Europe? Shouldn't we be satisfied with just protecting our own country?
The opportunity cost would be far less.- flogistan, on 07/08/2008, -2/+5Excellent question. American tax payers paying for a misslie defense system in eastern europe that doesn't work, but puts the region on edge anyway. They're trying to start a war.
- Gandalff, on 07/09/2008, -4/+2I am sure that if you can say it enough times to yourself and write it a few more times even you will start to believe it to be true.... By the way, get a towel and wipe the foam off the sides of your mouth, you look like a fool.
- flogistan, on 07/09/2008, -2/+4Eat ***** cumm drinker
- slavix, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5You actually believe this is about 'protecting' US? :) Oh how easy it is to fool you.
This system is just a first part of a MUCH bigger plan to deploy missile defense as far and as wide as possible to achieve a one sided advantage against as many countries as possible, potentially all. That is to say to remove the MAD equation. This all part of the plan to dominate through force the people of this planet and remove any risk of retaliation!

- evan2024, on 07/09/2008, -0/+7Russia has lots of oil. We should be nice to them, lol.
- 1randomguyO8, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5They have a couple of nukes and missile silos up their sleeve as well.
- evan2024, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4“We will be forced to react not with diplomatic, but with military-technical methods,' the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement."
Was this a prepared statement or an off-the-cuff kinda thing. The former is more concerning.- BabyWookie, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3He was not talking about attacking any one; just improving their missile tech.
- Bagos1, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Russia supports Iran for the oil access in the Middle East.

- glucoseboy, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Forget Iran, Russia is the real threat today. (And they DO have nuclear weapons)
