Runners mark miles for fallen troops

usatoday.com — Jon Bellona ’s best friend and college roommate, 1st Lt. Michael Cleary, was killed in Iraq 10 days before his tour was to end in Dec. 2005 and two months before he was to marry Erin Kavanagh. Inspired by his friend’s sacrifice, starting on June 14, he and friends will run a mile for every American service member killed in Iraq--over 4,000 miles.
