    The article is from october 2006. But this was allready happening before the massive car burnings in 2 years ago.

They need the system to protect them from evil/bad people/etc. This is why I think social liberals take exception with the 2nd Amendment. They think that it is the government's job to protect them. On economic matters, the "getting screwed" mindset translates into social programs/protections/lots of laws, etc.

    So, I think left-wing people are more apt to protest because they tend to think that they're getting screwed.

    By the way, I'm neither left or right wing so any responses that go that route are fruitless.

  • codye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Like others have noted above, Sarkozy is considered a "liberal" in European political parlance despite his party affiliation. Royale is quite plainly a socialist, one that seeks to "conserve" the status quo of 35 hour work weeks and rigid market regulations.

    I'd be careful about applying the monikers "liberal" and "conservative" to foreign politicians when these words quite clearly have different meanings outside the American context.

People destroying the stores, modes of transportations, and other services in their neighborhood only hurts themselves.
