- stejules, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1Why not, Rice could do so and everything is ok.We have done enough! Maybe this is her thought.

- 1980's: The US has no trade with people behind the iron curtain and no interest in keeping power in the hands of oppressive communist governments. President Reagan: 'Mr. Gorbachav, tear down this wall.'
- 1990's: Germany reunited and the USSR is dissolved. US signs trade deal with red China, gives them 'most favored nation' status.
- 2000's: US trade with China booms. China is US's largest trading partner after Mexico and Canada. China hosts the Olympics. In response to a crackdown on ethnic, religious and cultural minorities that have been oppressed and denied autonomy since the 1950's, US Secretary of State Rice says "If you're going to kill them you might as well talk to them. I mean, why shoot people when that's just going to piss them off more? You should try bullying them into submission at some diplomatic retreat instead. We don't support Tibet at all, we just think that shooting political dissidents dead in the streets is not a sustainable domestic policy" - 883XL, on 04/14/2008, -0/+2Hmmm the first Tibet riot to happen in over a decade happened in 2008 just before the Olympics? Coincidence?
