Report: U.S. 'preparing the battlefield' in Iran
cnn.com — The Bush administration has launched a "significant escalation" of covert operations in Iran, sending U.S. commandos to spy on the country's nuclear facilities and undermine the Islamic republic's government, journalist Seymour Hersh said Sunday.

- DPolitico, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5"President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have rejected findings from U.S. intelligence agencies that Iran has halted a clandestine effort to build a nuclear bomb..." Oh, yeah, sure. NOW they reject the findings of the CIA. What's the presentation going to be to the UN this time around? "And here is where we would've shown you slides that had false and misleading information, uh, but this time you'll just have our judgment with no intelligence behind it. Hey, wait a minute..."
- trghpy, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4So um...

Can you guys like um, like start working on the papers now?

- littlequeenie, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Nothing about this administration surprises me anymore; disgusts me, yes, surprises me, never.
- varun1s, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1These are probably just empty threats. Bush administration will not invade Iran. Thats because of two reasons: 1) Bush term is near end, with no guarantees that future president will follow his footsteps 2) Our military is already stretched in Iraq, and the situation there isn't becoming particularly stable.
Second, how does a journalist (Seymour Hersh) get to know about "covert" (aka secret) war plans? Is it that easy to get intelligence on our top military brass? I'm skeptical.
