- joeanon, on 08/28/2008, -64/+324THAT IS HUGE. You have Russia's top guy coming out to tell the American people your President is a manipulative war monger of epic proportions.
I've never heard of a foreign leader making a statement so bold in modern times on such a large scale conspiracy charge beside like world leaders against Hitler and I'm not sure the 40's are modern times anymore.
It of course, makes perfect sense. Either the Georgian President was COMPLETELY insane and American media ALL accidentally reported it wrong. OR a force within the US convinced Georgia to attack and leaked or pressured US news to blame Russia while international media and showed it was Georgia who attacked unarmed civilians, shelling their city mercilessly. And lets face it, the only force that can do this is the White House or some alliance of wealthy people or some secret congressional committee perhaps or a US intel agency or.. perhaps all those working together though unlikely Bush would involve congress.
I'm sure millions of other people are pondering this and now your have Putin come out and just say it. You know, the guy may be a bit of an authoritarian *****, but he seems like a kind of smart but fair authoritarian *****. I mean what did he do to big oil. He ***** them hard... I mean hard like the GOP would be crying communism. Oh private enterprise has lost it's sovereignty to act as a separate government with the wealth of a nation and a loyal workforce of troops wah wah wah. I can hear the republican cries as energy markets have to be created by federal programs because renewable energy is less profitable. Don't bother considering the fact it saves your citizens billions of dollars and the peace of mind of having affordable energy. No.. the lowest unit price is all that matter.
Seems to me we've shifted to far toward brutal capitalism where money becomes the truest governing factor. - ProjectGSX, on 08/28/2008, -28/+132I cant believe the mainstream media is IGNORING this important situation!!
Oh, wait.. - mitsuogs, on 08/28/2008, -27/+111Why was Cheney's guy in Georgia before the war?
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/presidentbush/2008 ...
FYI. Draw your own conclusions from it. - duggedup, on 08/28/2008, -29/+109It's getting pretty bad when I think a Russian dictator is more honest than my own American government. Also , why is there no international outrage over our military killing 90 innocent children in Afganistan? When Russia kills civilians it's "slaughter", when America kills civilians it's a "mistake".
- phesen, on 08/28/2008, -57/+120Story could have some merit. McCain pumped up how he's better at handling international crisis.
I've also hear lately how big oil is working to lower gas prices to help out the republicans before the election. - Gavin, on 08/28/2008, -10/+68Shocking that he would come out and say this! Well we know Russia is not under the control of the West.
- SnaggyMcGee, on 08/28/2008, -25/+83OK be logical. What happened to Bush's approval ratings immediately after 9/11? Through the roof, over 90%. Practically, this translated to a blank check in Congress for the next five years. Let the results speak for themselves. Now, ask yourself: which candidate stands to benefit from a constant state of war? At what point do discriminating, ostensibly reasonable people stop rationalizing absurd coincidences and finally admit that a duck is a duck?
- GoatRoper, on 08/28/2008, -45/+102I said this from day one. A U.S. backed country goes schizo on people who haven't done anything wrong except not like the Georgian government but happen to be best buds with Russia a few months before the U.S. elections where the Republican candidate is doing poorly and can capitalize on the conflict.
Thats right out of Rove's playbook right there. - hangman16, on 08/28/2008, -30/+86If you have been paying attention the non-western media this would already be apparent.
Satellite feeds being lost when Condoleeza Rice is asked a question about Georgia's initial attack. Fox cutting off a young girl telling the world Georgia is responsible and that Russia was helping innocent civilians stay safe. Add it all up.
Too bad most will just instantly deem Putin crazy and not give this scenario a second though. "The United States would NEVER do anything wrong! We are perfect!" - bdc83, on 08/28/2008, -5/+50Capitalism ≠ Democracy
- kjcdude, on 08/28/2008, -3/+44It's only on the front page of cnn
- Sfenton, on 08/28/2008, -19/+54I wonder how many of these people are Americans that are believing Putin. You guys make it seem that Putin is the white light in this turmoil of politics.
Shame on you. - geoken, on 08/28/2008, -4/+37Not saying I believe Putin, but maybe you guys should do some research on the history of the CIA before calling someone an idiot for suggesting a textbook execution of their oldest tactic could perhaps be attributed to them.
- Hartley1942, on 08/28/2008, -29/+60This is ridiculous. Since when is Putin a reliable source of information?
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -2/+33"I've never heard of a foreign leader making a statement so bold in modern times on such a large scale conspiracy charge beside like world leaders against Hitler and I'm not sure the 40's are modern times anymore."
Hugo Chavez? Oh yea he speaks Spanish... - BeefBaron, on 08/28/2008, -8/+38So you'll trust all your US/western sources who have been casting Russia as the inital aggressor? You have showen ignorant bias in favour of the west immediately.
Welcome to the futility of trusting any nation-state. - yngtimmy, on 08/28/2008, -4/+33Incredible. and Ridiculous. Must be a great position to be in. Get flack from the international community, and blame it on the US.
- executorzz, on 08/28/2008, -25/+53holy crap, I can't understand why there is anyone that believes this. From Vladmir ***** Putin of all people.
- serif69, on 08/28/2008, -25/+53It really bothers me that all these diggers are thoughtlessly buying into the anti-American posturing of a man who just orchestrated the separation of a portion of another country and blamed it on a conspiracy theory. You all need to read and decide for yourselves, not automatically take the side of a foreign leader who seems hell-bent to equate NATO with George Bush simply because you already think Bush is evil.
Here's a starting point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_South_Ossetia_wa ... - pyronik, on 08/28/2008, -9/+37you guys are a bunch of nut jobs. Russia invades a country and then blames it on the US and you people actually take it as gospel just cause you despise bush. your PATHETIC
- 3gibberish4q57, on 08/28/2008, -12/+36I'm all for blaming Bush for the ills of society, but do you honestly believe that he somehow orchestrated this war to drum up votes for McCain?
- Sandhog, on 08/28/2008, -8/+32The "mainstream media" are for entertainment purposes only and not a source of true news and facts.
- MasterThief117, on 08/28/2008, -6/+30Well, time to prepare for the new Cold War.

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article20 ... - crombenevolant, on 08/28/2008, -5/+28It is amazing how easily everyone falls for Putin's spin. If you actually look up the facts a couple of things will stand out:
The Ossetians broke a treaty and attacked Georgia first on August 6th.
The Georgians struck back on Aug 7th (which is cited by the media as the start of the war).
Most media sources blame Georgia for aggravating Russia by attacking Ossetia, but the Russians moved into Georgia on the 6th, a full day before the Georgians responded, and coincidentally at the same time the Ossetians ramped up hostilities.
Even though cease fires have been signed, the Russians have not pulled out their troops as they agreed to.
What does this all mean? Russia wanted to take control of strategic Georgian ports, and now they have. If you are student of history you will know that in the beginning many people blamed Poland for "aggravating" the nazi's. Look what happened there.... - theskyisblue, on 08/28/2008, -3/+26LOL typical response about Russians: "He/she is KGB, therefore he/she sucks." Do some research on what the KGB is. After that, do some research on the terrible things the CIA, FBI, and NSA have done before you open your mouth.
- slavix, on 08/28/2008, -3/+25Russia does not have a dictator. That is just more ***** that msm is selling the public. Putin stepped down from presidency (as constitution required) even though he was by far the most popular politician in the country. Your msm keeps telling you lies about Russia and you believe it just like they lied about WMD in Iraq, Iran. Russia has a very popular elected government!
And please do not just mindlessly repeat all the lies they tell you in msm about Russia. Ask yourself how do you know? Can you trust the info you get from msm?
Everyone who wants to understand what is going in this conflict needs get some info outside the western corporate media! They are misinforming the public about the whole thing.
Please watch this interview Putin gave to CNN, of which CNN chose to show just a few clips.

People do your own research and do not buy the lies they are telling you on FOX, CNN and others. You are being neo-conned! - slavix, on 08/28/2008, -8/+30I think are just scared of the word KGB. You have no idea what it stands for or the fact that it does not exist for the last 17 years. KGB is like a favorite boogie man word for you people. Do you realize that KGB is more or less an equivalent to US Homeland Security dept? Or are you one of those - they are 'evil empire' kind of people. You are the ignoramus.
Putin (regardless of all the garbage they tell you about him in msm) is one of the most popular politicians in Russia in modern times. (and for a good reason). And please spare me all the lies they paddle in western msm of Putin the tyrant, killer of journalists,... etc. (lies, lies and more lies)

People do your own research and do not buy the lies they are telling you on FOX, CNN and others. You are being neo-conned! - vexingmodstwo, on 08/28/2008, -24/+46Alternate Title: Putin plays the American left (aka the blame America first crowd) like cheap fiddles.
- neveroddoreven, on 08/28/2008, -8/+29" although he presented no evidence to back it up." okay enough conjecture to give you crazies a hard-on. Seriously. There is no proof in the article it just shows Putin accusing the US. And why are you so quick to believe Putin, a man who is himself notorious for doing whatever he can to stay in power by silencing his opposition? Why, I know why because its pure conjecture that can be viewed by individuals like you as "proof" that there is a vast right wing conspiracy. And so you can shamelessly promote your candidate in dumbfounded fashion. You realize that by saying event benefited John McCain you are admitting that Obama experience and credentials to handle an international crisis.
- seltaeb4, on 08/28/2008, -1/+22And if you're a civilian, "dead" means "dead," no matter who is responsible.
- Spandia, on 08/28/2008, -8/+28Personally, I find KGB to be a superior intelligence agency to CIA. Putin is a smart man.
- Wargalas, on 08/28/2008, -33/+52All of you are wrong.
Georgia didn't start it. A group within the contested area attacked Georgia. Georgia retaliated, Russia stepped in a slaughtered Georgia. It's well documented.
http://www.michaeltotten.com/archives/2008/08/the- ...
Georgia didn't start it on August 7, nor on any other date. The South Ossetian militia started it on August 6 when its fighters fired on Georgian peacekeepers and Georgian villages with weapons banned by the agreement hammered out between the two sides in 1994. At the same time, the Russian military sent its invasion force bearing down on Georgia from the north side of the Caucasus Mountains on the Russian side of the border through the Roki tunnel and into Georgia. This happened before Saakashvili sent additional troops to South Ossetia and allegedly started the war. - inactive, on 08/28/2008, -3/+21Dude, how the ***** you did the unequal sign!? I failed my online calculus test a few days ago and most of it was because I could not figure out how the ***** to do that sign. My calculus teacher is hot and has a big rack but she's a total bitch, I asked her what was the ***** code to do that sign and she did not wanted to tell me. I should had bitchslapped her.
- norman619, on 08/28/2008, -7/+24Could have some merit? Read up on the man who's word you are thinking about taking as truth. Putin and the Russian government in general have shown us their word is worth nothing. But you go ahead and pretend Putin is an honest and stand up guy... I'm guessing Bush had Russia give the separatists Russian passports/citizenship to give themselves a reason to attack Georgia. If you believe the Russian forces left in Georgia were "peacekeepers" you are a fool. Russia has been upset that Georgia and other former USSR states are seeking admission into NATO and establishing ties with western governments. Russia has been bullying the former USSR states for a while now. Remember the threats of military action against Poland if they signed a missile def deal with the US? Try to remember they are a sovereign nation. You obviously don't know ***** about what is actually going on there or the history yet you want to believe them.

"...although he presented no evidence to back it up."
Enough said. - gasoline, on 08/28/2008, -10/+26Very true. Comments on this subject are worthless on a surprising scale.
- bizzywho, on 08/28/2008, -8/+24Georgia: We want South Ossetia back!
US: Sure thing Georgia! Israel will supply the weapons and we'll supply the training. Go for it!
Georgia moves into South Ossetia and slaughters innocent civilians.
South Ossetia: WTF?! Russia help!
Russia: On our way!
Russia moves in and forces Georgia back, inflicting casualties in the process.
US: Hey!
US Media: Hello American citizens. Since we think you are dumb asses and easily brainwashed, Russia just invaded South Ossetia and slaughtered innocent civilians. Georgia responded and tried to force Russia out. Now Russia is invading Georgia. See, they're the bad guys!
President Bush: Russia, do you know that if Georgia was a Nato member, we'd have fully authority to kick your ass in Georgia and South Ossetia?
Russia: Mr. Bush, do you know that if just one conventional weapon from the US was used on Russian troops, we would have nuke your asses?
President Bush: (gulp)
Russia secures the South Ossetia border and leaves troops in neighboring Georgian towns.
NATO: Hey Russia, move the hell out so we can send in the humanitarian aid, cause it'll make us look like the good guys.
Russia: ***** you! You and America started this, so we will be the ones to send in humanitarian aid. We'll leave when we've fixed your mess and secured South Ossetia.
South Ossetia: Thank you Russia!
US Media: The Russians are aggressors and ruthless because they won't remove their troops from Georgia and they keep NATO from sending humanitarian aid. Believe us citizens, the US and NATO are the saints here. No way would America ever unconstitutionally incite wars... - thedogfatherx, on 08/28/2008, -4/+20I'd put everything I own on that bet. I mean EVERYTHING.

- wreckosaurus, on 08/28/2008, -2/+18Putin's getting nuttier every day. He tried to go to China to shore up some support since the entire western world has condemned him, and he failed.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/feedarticle/775931 ... - wreckosaurus, on 08/28/2008, -5/+20I hate bush as much as the next guy, but blaming every single thing that goes wrong anywhere in the world on him is getting a little annoying. And Putin is getting into troofer territory.
- SnaggyMcGee, on 08/28/2008, -10/+25AND he lost the popular vote. Oh, you meant Putin?

PUTIN IS A CRAZY BITCH. - poidh, on 08/28/2008, -29/+43My bet is that the Digg Kidz will believe anything Putin says as long as it is against Bush and McCain.
- jdelator, on 08/28/2008, -2/+16FYI. That was an improper use of FYI.
- SethEllis, on 08/28/2008, -34/+48Funny that the KBG Russian president would throw a claim out that couldn't possibly be confirmed or proven, and has the potential to create political division in the US. Sounds like typical Russian cold war tactics to me...
