If mexico attacked the united states for no reason and killed a couple thousand people, then you'd have a similar situation.

http://www.russiatoday.ru/news/news/28744/video - positron, on 08/10/2008, -1/+1Georgia didn't attack or threaten Russia in any way. Russia is on the other side of the border from South Ossetia.
- otokarev, on 08/10/2008, -2/+2There is a difference. Russia defends piece in the region near its borders.
- kubak, on 08/10/2008, -2/+2so at this time the headline is "Georgia 'pulls out of S Ossetia' "
when this conflict hopefully ends no one will come up as a winner, i think
georgia - has destroyed infrastructure (by themselves and russians), somewhat weakened military (i guess since they are withdrawing), more russian troops inside s. ossetia, no vocal and energetic support from westerns "allies"
russia - horrible, ***** world image - they put themselves on same level as usa invading iraq - DigzDogg, on 08/10/2008, -1/+1Russia has been trying to get Georgia to sign a treaty guaranteeing they would not use military force to solve the break-away region problems for over a month. It is obvious now why they wouldn't sign the treaty: they, with support from the US, were planning this incursion all along. Georgia is the one that bombarded the ***** out of what they call their own people just because they were Ossetians.
