(Tin-foil hat re-purposed to cover my leftover steak) - USSSH2855, on 05/27/2008, -0/+1Well it just show you that it only take a few to make trouble and that what happen.Yes they do eat dog, it was my first encounter of the other food of the world back in 1974, I would say one thing, it did taste good, but the point here is why cry about the beef, they should know that the Korea government will do everything to make sure the food is safe.
- pcs007, on 05/27/2008, -0/+0It's the point. Why S,Korea should imports more 30 months age cows and its bone? Can you eat these food? (If you say yes, I can think you do not know dangerous these cow) Also, S Korean people disapoint their Gov because this decision has not considerd any food safety.
(Sorry. My English is not good) - vicky110, on 05/27/2008, -0/+0It's nothing to do with eating dogs,if you say so, probably quiet a lot of south and far east Asians have to eat mad cow which some people call poisonous rubbishes. Besides it's not because just about the protest of beef import, but because of S Korea governments try to keep their violence to the people secretly. S Korea is the most developed country with IT, which means most of people who were their use mobile recordable devices, such as their mobiles. Even so government pretend to be they just keep demonstrators safe in the street.
- USSSH2855, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1Where did you get this from? Please give some insight on you comment and back then up, I put my life on the line and many more have done the same thing, so if there somethings we need to know about then do tell us.
- ellie00, on 05/27/2008, -0/+0Basically the Korean public is angry because US is trying to dump its unwanted beef, including the really dangerous parts such as bones and meat taken right off of the bone, from cows older than 30+ months. The US consumers usually do not consume beef from those older cows (although it could be in your Big Mac) as they are generally not available as "beef" in your supermarkets, and recently, some activists have tried to (I'm not sure whether they've already succeeded) exclude the 30+ month old beef from pet foods. Now the US beef industry needs to do something with that beef that nobody wants because of the rising fear of BSE. And, probably due to some heavy lobbying from the beef industry, the US government has been refusing to 1) exclude all animal parts from being ground into cow feeds, and 2) test more extensively for BSE.
Yes, some Koreans _do_ eat dog meat, but have you heard of a deadly disease that one gets from eating dog meat? Eating dog meat, which I am personally against, is not a matter of public health safety. Eating potentially BSE-carrying beef is, and the Korean government has just agreed to risk its citizens' health. Plus that beef comes from the US who just wants to get rid of it but is in fact getting paid for it.
There's a song that my kindergarten daughter sings these days, and it goes like this: "Don't throw your junk in my backyard, my backyard, my backyard, ... Don't throw your junk in my backyard, my backyard's full." It's just as they say, everything you know, you learned in kindergarten.
