- appleseed1234, on 07/10/2009, -1/+37I'm happy to hear that the movement for freedom on Iran has survived not only survived their oppressive regime, but Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, and Billy Mays as well.
- BasalCellBossk, on 07/10/2009, -2/+26Long live the Iranian people. Death to the Ayatollahs.
- schnikies79, on 07/10/2009, -3/+24I see the Iranian government has their forces on digg too.
- duggtodeath, on 07/10/2009, -1/+21Quick; we need another dead celebrity distraction! Hurry before Americans start demanding "news."
- Angostura, on 07/10/2009, -3/+21"double check your sources"
OK. I'd like to check what you say please, because "the Western Media is magnifying the protests" sounds rather unlikely. - TaylorSPL, on 07/10/2009, -0/+17Better than "death to America."
- AmnesiacJack, on 07/10/2009, -3/+20Check out the reports by NightOwl (The Green Briefs) if you want a reliable source other than Huffpo and the occasional piece from other random souces. He posts pretty much every day the current news in Iran.
Current for today:
http://iran.whyweprotest.net/news-current-events/1 ... - Smokeydabear, on 07/10/2009, -2/+17I'm sorry chooochooo, I can't consider you a reliable source.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -3/+18those iran hardliner really has some denial issue, they smashing their own people never thinking that this young people will grow someday to oppose them. Keeping the country in wrong direction with violence against protester will never be the answer!
They worse than bush! - kingp, on 07/10/2009, -5/+17If only we had the balls to do this here in the US. Then we wouldn't have to accept crap like the Federal Reserve, idiotic congressman that pass bills they haven't even read, illegal income tax laws.
- Bulletbillx, on 07/10/2009, -1/+13especially since recently all the western media has been covering lately is Michael Jackson's death.
- Pilomotor, on 07/10/2009, -2/+14It's happening already. I'm sorry if you think reality should conform to action movie standards, but actual revolutions take time.
- evilesttoast, on 07/10/2009, -1/+12I am American and I think that we have the attention span of a ADHD 6 year old. Michael Jackson dying was more important than the energy bill that was passed AND an upcoming revolution in Iran?
- TaylorSPL, on 07/10/2009, -0/+10I have dual monitors, no need to put down the porn.
- DangerCollie, on 07/10/2009, -0/+9The cops might want to start considering that the people they're beating today might be running things tomorrow.
That will be really bad for their citizen militia. Probably not a great idea to wait 'till the last minute to switch sides. - JackG1980, on 07/10/2009, -1/+10The Iranian people will be victories... The hardliners will fall and a great nation will be born. The Iranians are tough smart people. They know what freedom taste like and they like it. Once you have a taste of freedom you cant take it away easily.
- lilmentor3, on 07/10/2009, -2/+10you obviously need to read some historical books and understand that history isn't some ***** movie.
- Andrwmorph, on 07/10/2009, -1/+9Yeah well they tried peaceful protests and that didn't work.
- kingp, on 07/10/2009, -3/+11You assume that I was comparing the two countries, but you are incorrect. I'm comparing the bravery of the people of Iran, to the idiotic complacence that runs rampant in this country. People don't care enough about how our government openly goes against our wishes, and does whatever the hell it wants. Need an example? Look no further than the bailouts, and the government taking over GM. The VAST MAJORITY of americans didn't want this to happen, but yet it happened anyway because our nanny says it's ok.
Just give us our fast food, keep us glued to American Idol and the Michael Jackson memorial, and all will be well.
For one that decries ignorance, it seems to be rampant in your comment. - pyrogyro, on 07/10/2009, -0/+7***** these guys have some balls, we need more of those people who actually do something instead of bitch about it
- kingp, on 07/10/2009, -1/+81. A currency based on something of value, like say GOLD.
2. Make it illegal for any politician to receive campaign donations, institute term limits for ALL congressman,
3. Repeal the Federal Reserve Act and the Income Tax laws on individuals. Not a single penny of the money received from income tax goes to government programs. It goes to pay off interest on money borrowed from the federal reserve.
Are you guys new to Digg? Surely you know this already. - Ki77erB, on 07/10/2009, -1/+7Did you RTFA? It says that these protests were not near as large as the ones in the first few days after the election. How exactly is that "Magnifying the protests"?
From the article...
"It did not compare to the hundreds of thousands who joined the marches that erupted after the June 12 presidential election" - Pilomotor, on 07/10/2009, -0/+6"Vehicles caught in traffic honked their horns in support of the marchers, witnesses said. Police were seen with a pile of license plates, apparently pried off honking cars in order to investigate the drivers later, the witnesses said."
I wonder how many people were actually honking because the protests were impeding traffic. At the very least, it seems like that would be a legitimately innocent excuse when the drivers are questioned by the authorities. - 3tcp, on 07/10/2009, -0/+6I'd say chanting is pretty damn peaceful considering the traditional way of overthrowing a government.
- SkittlesUSA, on 07/10/2009, -0/+5I think YOU need to do a little more reading if you think the 1917 revolutionS were an "inspiring movement."
Yes the Tsar abdicated in the February/March Revolution, but do you really think the Bolshevik revolution was inspiring? Not only were the Bolsheviks in the minority, but Lenin himself denied the Marxist philosophy he claimed to love. Marxism predicts the PROLETARIAT rising against the capitalists, not a few elites overthrowing a provisional government. The October Revolution was a minority revolution lead by a few political and hypocritical elites; no inspiration there whatsoever. - catalizor, on 07/10/2009, -1/+6There is more similarities than you can imagine.
-They brainwash with propaganda and fear of unknown(Religon), and the promise of (9) virgins in heaven! Here they brainwash with the PROMISE of change and tax cuts. Which they are both bogus.
- Ayatollahs rule with an iron fist. Here they do it with golden tongue. End result is the same; cencorship and total control.
- Khomeini showed up out of nowhere 30 years ago with a lot of propaganda. Same with our elected president.
- Ayatollah Khamenei picked Ahmadinejad for president. Major Media picked our president.
- The election in Iran was a farse. Our election also was a farse. Our president was already picked and paid for.
The election was a side show.
So open your eyes and see what is really happening. - BotchaMcCoola, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4If only we had started a war there. They could have been unified behind the leaders now.
- Wypie, on 07/10/2009, -1/+5"Sorry, my subscription to JUGGS magazine ran out."
- lilmentor3, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4!!!! thank you!!!! *****, i am not the only one :)
- Pilomotor, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4[citation needed]
- Ki77erB, on 07/10/2009, -2/+6Presbyterian = Michael Bay
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4Every Iranian I knew is a Ph.D. candidate...
- lilmentor3, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4Iran is not the same anymore! indeed.
- skinturtle, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4All they gotta do is put some burning cars in busy intersections...and stop doing business...for a few days. That will likely not do the government any good.
The quickest way to any governments throat is to slit it's economy and cash flow - BasalCellBossk, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4Is it Friday night already?
- 3tcp, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4lol, you forgot the /s at the end of your post
- JackG1980, on 07/10/2009, -4/+7Where do you get your sources from? Retard
- deflorist, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3Also realize they're not saying this in English. It doesn't translate well.
They're not actually calling for "The Dictator" to be lynched. - jesusfish, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3another good one with daily updates:
http://shooresh1917.blogspot.com - lilmentor3, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3great! thanks
- jwkpiano1, on 07/10/2009, -1/+4Ah, once again, Presbyterian shows us how much of a ***** retard he is. Read his post history. Holy ***** *****, seriously.
- 3tcp, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2obvious troll
- omega09, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2This one too: http://www.freehumans.org
- parisar, on 07/11/2009, -0/+21-FYI: I'm a PhD student and I am Iranian and I'm proud of it. At least 30-40 of my Iranian friends are PhD candidates too.
2- Look at the official statics: proportionally, Iranian immigrants are the most educated group of immigrants and also have the highest income (again proportional to their population here in US)
3- In every society, you will occasionally meet people who are drug addicts, but you will see them more frequently if you are a drug addict too! - izzajoker, on 07/10/2009, -1/+3Why are people always chanting "Death to this" and "Death to that" in these stories? People are more likely to listen if you're not calling for their eradication.
- 3tcp, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2When people do not care about something, it is misguided to blame the things that they do care about. It is not the distraction that is responsible, it is the desire to be distracted.
- mitikomon, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2Thank you.
- Pilomotor, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2You forgot the /s, I hope.
- cjsmith87, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2Tried to digg ya twice!
- TechyLah, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2There once was a perfectly good war there - between Iran and Iraq, in fact. It was the brilliance of our own state department that had to de everything it could to put a stop to it!
