Any other questions?
- quaxon, on 09/13/2008, -5/+14I have a feeling the two are connected.
- mohsenxp, on 09/13/2008, -1/+13Indeed. I doubt money is what he was receiving.
- PhilLesh69, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2That was my first thought, too. Coke makes you horny. What better way to get some naive farm boy college freshman to unzip his pants for him.
- Larsonal777, on 09/13/2008, -11/+4Wow this joke is old... there were like .05% of priests who were found out in that scandal all at once... which means 99.95% of priests don't do it... I believe that's a very high percentage compared to the rest of society. So its been 7 years and the most you can find on priests is that one of them might be selling coke?
The only reason people make a big deal out of it is because they are the people who usually don't do it (though the church has never claimed the clergy aren't sinners). ***** that crap happens all the time in our society. A few ***** are bound to make it through the seminary.- liamfoley, on 09/13/2008, -2/+13All that statistic tells us is that 99.95% of priests knew something freaky was going on and they did nothing, so let me ask you this, who is worse, the abuser or the one who lets the abuse happen?
- badastronaut, on 09/13/2008, -2/+6Why does that statistic tells us is that 99.95% of priests knew something freaky was going on and they did nothing?
- ATLien74, on 09/13/2008, -1/+5I hate to tell you, but it's no joke. The real question is why do they do it? Maybe the church needs to rethink the psychological impact of their celibacy policies.
Or they could just ***** off. - bullhead2007, on 09/13/2008, -2/+3That doesn't excuse the Pope from protecting all of them as much as possible. A few of the top pedophiles are now safe in the Vatican because of that, instead of getting raped in the ass in Prison like they should be.
- ICSU, on 09/13/2008, -1/+5"there were like .05% of priests who were found out in that scandal all at once... which means 99.95% of priests don't do it."
If they don't catch you it doesn't happen?
religious morals for ya .. or logic? - Larsonal777, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1I think you all missed my point...
@liam How the hell does that statistic show that the rest of the priests now that it was going on? You're logic is like me saying that you are the worst person in the world because you know that everyone in the world sins and you don't do anything about it. I know there are sick people out there... does that mean i know who they are?
@ATLien74 Your logic makes no sense either... If the percentage of priests who are sexual predators is drastically less than that of non priests how does that mean that the celibacy policies are making the priests become sexual predators... Please explain
@ICSU in this country people are innocent until proven guilty so if you want to use statistics we go off of the people we KNOW are guilty.
What happened to the victims is horrible... and those predators are bastards. But you can't point to innocent men and label them the same as child molesters.
- Myztry, on 09/13/2008, -0/+6Better than dealing ***** to rectums...
- sgtbutterscotch, on 09/12/2008, -0/+70Yes.
- louiebaur, on 09/12/2008, -1/+57Wasn't aware of that law.. "1 gram of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church"
- steakneggs, on 09/13/2008, -0/+8It is law here in Illinois in regards to most drugs, that you cannot be within a certain distance from a church.
My friend is a police officer in the town of Elgin, Illinois. There they have a night club across the street from a church in their business district. Police are constantly doing stings in and around it for drugs, and that is one of the laws they cite when busting people. - EllimistX, on 09/14/2008, -0/+3That sounds like it violates the principles of separation of church and state. Why do churches get their own related laws when drugs are illegal everywhere? That's jut another count to screw someone over with.
- STBAT25, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1In Illinois they can add to prison sentences for just about any drug activity because where ever you are caught you are more than likely near a church, park, school, ect.
- steakneggs, on 09/13/2008, -0/+8It is law here in Illinois in regards to most drugs, that you cannot be within a certain distance from a church.
- ks136, on 09/12/2008, -7/+13No pun intended, but Holy Mother of God...
- whahaa, on 09/13/2008, -0/+5no pun intended, but cocaine is a hell of a drug.
- ATLien74, on 09/13/2008, -2/+3That was totally intended and you both know it. Dugg anyways.
- Surferess, on 09/12/2008, -2/+14Apparently, the priest was "ill" too. lol
- über, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1Was he "ini" as well?
- ruddy, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2i'm not catholic, but we all have our own cross to bare - even imperfect priests
I'm just saying we shouldn't be gleeful he has this problem.

- writer4higher, on 09/12/2008, -11/+3Dealing drugs from the rectory is better than dealing you know what to a rectUM!
- david468, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1You're an idiot.
- granolajoe, on 09/13/2008, -2/+4What a dumbass. Not exactly the most subtle individual
- systemstheory88, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1I actually know the priest in question (I lived in the place he was "stationed" for some time), and he didn't seem like an addict at all.
The police may have known about it, but I can tell you right now, he exhibited no obvious signs of drug abuse.- granolajoe, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1That may be. But he's a priest - how could he not suspect someone was going to eventually out him for dealing? It's almost as if he were asking for it. Priests don't have the same kind of low-key profile that they used to. Ever since the molestation scandals, they are walking targets.

- OtterStratton, on 09/13/2008, -8/+45Wait, he was dealing coke?
"Do you want any coke?"
"Sure."
"What kind of coke?"
"Coke."
"What kind of coke?"
"Coke."
This is why it's called soda.- nubnub, on 09/13/2008, -11/+6Its called pop.
- barktwiggs, on 09/13/2008, -12/+4You mean pop.
- SeekerDarksteel, on 09/13/2008, -3/+9Illinois is a pop state. You need to go south to find coke states.
- fishpen0, on 09/13/2008, -0/+5Or east or west, in which case people actually call it soda. Pretty much the only area using "pop" is the midwest.
- adamroach, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1I'm from Illinois and we all say soda.
- boombye, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1Well in Chicago we say Pop or sometimes Soda adamroach
- oda1, on 09/13/2008, -4/+3I read that 3 times. I couldn't find the funny.
- ATLien74, on 09/13/2008, -4/+2If you ask for a "Pop" down south, you're gonna get one right upside your head. We don't say "soda" either. Everything is a Coke including Pepsi.
- adamroach, on 09/13/2008, -1/+3So...how do you order a Pepsi?
- PhilLesh69, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2adamroach, any place where you have to ask for your drink, they're either going to be selling coca cola OR pepsi. You won't have a choice.
If you ask for a coke at a restaurant that only serves Pepsi, they'll either tell you it's pepsi, or just serve you pepsi. - ATLien74, on 09/18/2008, -1/+1Whoever dugg me down, I suggest you come down here and order a "pop".
- kr9681, on 09/13/2008, -6/+5you never know who to trust now a days.
- mohsenxp, on 09/13/2008, -1/+15well we've always known not to trust priests.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 09/13/2008, -1/+4You might be right, but I think priests have been pretty far out of the running for a while now.

- ahoyhoy1, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1This was the real life Rickety Cricket.
- hakz, on 09/13/2008, -2/+9how the hell does a priest start selling coke?
- nubnub, on 09/13/2008, -4/+3they want monies?
- SeaweedWater, on 09/13/2008, -1/+20By separating it into little baggies first of all.
- BrokenCircle, on 09/13/2008, -1/+8You have to dilute it first to increase your profit margins, I suggest using lidocaine or inositol.
- PhilLesh69, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2I thought baby laxatives was the cut of choice? oops, I guess I only buy my coke in the ghetto ;)
- flashback99, on 09/13/2008, -1/+2god told him to, pretty obvious really,
- ancalagon73, on 09/13/2008, -1/+3He's just trying to fill the pews.
- BlatheringIdiot, on 09/13/2008, -1/+2Ohhh- they start out small- pushing "sacramental wine". That's the gateway drug. Then they move to the more sinister "incense".
The best is the "Angel Dust" One way ticket to paradise...
- ColonelJessup, on 09/13/2008, -5/+6Rectory? Priests? There's gotta be a joke in there somewhere.........
- badenglishihave, on 09/13/2008, -0/+6It's no joke when priests administer drugs rectally.

- mugupo, on 09/13/2008, -13/+8Those Catholic priest are probably more corrupt than Republican.
- dondara, on 09/13/2008, -4/+6Bah, more corrupt? Than a republican? Impossible!
- Sil369, on 09/13/2008, -3/+7bad christians go to hell
bad republicans get promoted - david468, on 09/13/2008, -2/+4It's all the same.
- bullhead2007, on 09/13/2008, -1/+2Expecting the same organization that started the crusades, and the inquisition, and funded/supported Hitler, to not be corrupt is what baffles me about people.
- adamroach, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2In any organization as large as the Catholic church and the Republican Party, etc. there are bound to be a few rotten apples to screw it up for the rest.
- skeen07, on 09/13/2008, -7/+2I am shocked! SHOCKED! To think I held Catholic Priests in the highest regard. I'm going to have to re-think some things. Oh *****! I just had a epiphany. Could it be possible that..that...there's no such thing as god?? OMGNOWAI!
- systemstheory88, on 09/13/2008, -0/+3I'm not going to disagree with you on the "no god" thing, but there's really no correlation between a priest's bad behavior and the existence of god, just like their good behavior doesn't make it more likely that god exists.
- skeen07, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1Well, sure, goes without saying.
- systemstheory88, on 09/13/2008, -0/+3I'm not going to disagree with you on the "no god" thing, but there's really no correlation between a priest's bad behavior and the existence of god, just like their good behavior doesn't make it more likely that god exists.

- greenlight2001, on 09/13/2008, -4/+13Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
- mwaleed86, on 09/13/2008, -10/+1So?..WHats wrong with selling coka cola?
- dondara, on 09/13/2008, -12/+6Wait, people still do coke?
- PhilLesh69, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1Yes. Where have you been?
I live outside DC. DC is a coke town.
I even know of a retired Air Force Colonel who is now a republican lobbyist who hangs out at the bar down the street from my house who is always trying to lure younger men back to his hotel room at the staybridge suites with promises of a couple lines. The bartenders and I are constantly warning people about him.
- PhilLesh69, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1Yes. Where have you been?
- mohsenxp, on 09/13/2008, -7/+1Illinois has a confusing abbreviation!
- barktwiggs, on 09/13/2008, -3/+6So that's why confessional attendance is up ever since this new priest arrived!
- aud24, on 09/13/2008, -3/+9Damn they always gotta be takin my sources- now I gotta go to that Buddhist monk on the South Side for my blow. *****.
- antoniuk, on 09/13/2008, -8/+5It is just a cover to blow little children.
- RSS14, on 09/13/2008, -9/+4Cocaine's a hell of a drug
- PhilLesh69, on 09/14/2008, -1/+1Yes, Dave Chappelle, we get it.
- matthewinDRO, on 09/13/2008, -9/+10I have never once heard of a Pastafarian engaging in any illicit activities; at the same time, there are all these stories about the false religion's priests engaging in drugs and child buttsecs; all of which just goes to prove the power of the FSM's noodly goodness and the falseness of all other religions.
- fangor, on 09/13/2008, -0/+3I don't know what kind of lame Pastafarians you have where you live, but where I come from, Pastafarianism=Partyism
- SeaweedWater, on 09/13/2008, -3/+5Was his name Rickety Cricket?
- Brennn10, on 09/13/2008, -3/+9At least he wasn't dealing small children.
- pault107, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2As far as we know.
- kelsosmythe, on 09/13/2008, -8/+2I usually get high off Jesus.. Not with him..
- pault107, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1How does that work?
- detroitcity, on 09/13/2008, -3/+44Why should it be more illegal to deal drugs within 1000 feet of a church than to deal drugs in general?
- liquisoft, on 09/13/2008, -1/+23Because when drugs and imaginary fairy tales combine, things become way too real.
- andyb747, on 09/13/2008, -10/+2I heard atheists hold the world record for molesting children...........please don't digg me down it's just something I heard ;)
- DICKBISCUITS, on 09/13/2008, -0/+3was it in the guiness book of world records? I must of missed the molester section
- aud24, on 09/13/2008, -2/+1Never bash the anti-God fearing folk on digg- doing so will result in immediate burial- and usually a subsequent barrage of insults.
- mvlazysusan, on 09/13/2008, -2/+2It's because of original sin that...YOU SHOULD KILL YOURSELF
- bbqsalad, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1thats interesting, you ever watch that show "to catch a predator"? Nearly every person they busted tried to bring up god and how they were religious. Anyone who truly believes in god is crazy to begin with, there is so much evidence, things you can hold in your hand, that prove the bible and many other religions to be false.
I think conservatives are the biggest perverts of all.
- lbdinh, on 09/13/2008, -1/+10"His attorney, Mark D. Lipton, did not immediately respond to an after hours message seeking comment. "
No *****. Thanks for pointing that out. Because the attorney's sole purpose of existence is to give comments to reporters after his office is closed and he's at home ***** his wife.- Anditsonfire, on 09/13/2008, -2/+1They're pointing out it was after hours so people realize why the lawyer didn't comment. If they had just said he couldn't be reached for comment people might assume he was avoiding the press or something.
- PhilLesh69, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2But it would be more informative to say "because it was after business hours, we were unable to contact his attorney".
- Anditsonfire, on 09/13/2008, -2/+1They're pointing out it was after hours so people realize why the lawyer didn't comment. If they had just said he couldn't be reached for comment people might assume he was avoiding the press or something.
- oda1, on 09/13/2008, -3/+11you guys don't want to know what I thought 'rectory' meant.
- saqer, on 09/13/2008, -15/+10why the ***** is this news? Ohhhh. It's because the digg anti-religion coalition likes to take small stories as this one and blow them out of proportion. No different than the viewers who watch Fox News because of the sensationalism!
buried.- Gerbil_Juice, on 09/13/2008, -0/+6I think a story of a priest selling coke would still be interesting even if I was religious.
- flashback99, on 09/13/2008, -4/+3yeah right, sure the whole of digg is against you. maybe you've had too much drugs yourself and are paranoid?
besides, god doesnt exist anyway, if you believe in god, you have a mental illness and addiction to fantasy.
- AWOL007, on 09/13/2008, -2/+14He really wasn't "dealing" coke but rather "doing" coke with another individual who only gave him up because he was arrested. We all have our crosses to bare. His was a drug addiction. Video of the story can be found here: http://illinoishomepage.net/content/fulltext/?cid= ...
- Asianwaste, on 09/13/2008, -6/+5Cocaine and Abel?
Blow to the Catholic Church? - heystoopid, on 09/13/2008, -7/+3It's probably the alter boy who brought his stash to the church so he could play spin the bottle and sink the willy in that hot 12 year old female choir lead singer named Lindsay in the confession box after the noon service .
- PhilLesh69, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1Why? Isn't that what everyone did when they were 12 and forced to go to church by their parents?
I know I did.

- PhilLesh69, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1I dunno. Coke isn't that bad. As long as you have lots and lots of money.
- forchilli, on 09/13/2008, -2/+4Well *****, if priests around here dealt coke I'm sure there would be a lot more christian people.
- Akaziel, on 09/13/2008, -2/+2Okay I was skimming down the headlines really quick and for some reason read that "Priest accused of stealing coke in his rectum"
