- mydigga, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1This is the religious version of seeing a UFO!
- Rebelghost, on 10/16/2007, -10/+4You got it...he's saying..."Look at me, I'm in Hell!"
- fredoesfly, on 10/21/2007, -2/+1I doubt if he is any thing like bragging where he is forever in the lake of fire..
- chase001, on 10/21/2007, -2/+2Burn. baby, burn.
- Newportbeachguy, on 10/16/2007, -17/+5He should be in Hell for neglecting all those poor kids who have been molested.
- fredoesfly, on 10/16/2007, -11/+0An angel of light ....more like hell showing him as he is to be forever...
- mikewhite314, on 10/21/2007, -10/+8I bet they just take a bunch of pictures and find one that looks like a human form. I mean, there's no way the photographer would have realized the fire looked vaguely like the pope at the moment he was taking the photo.
- jdoe562, on 10/21/2007, -4/+12Is it the 18th century yet? I'm just hanging around, waiting for the enlightenment to happen.
- chase001, on 10/16/2007, -3/+3It happened and we are into the new Dark Ages of ignorance and faith.
- jdoe562, on 10/21/2007, -5/+2I hope that a man with 2 billion people under his command isn't the type to believe in silly superstitions like this. Oh, wait...
- jpwhitmore, on 10/21/2007, -2/+15man, whoever believes this is so damn stupid
- RealSurreal, on 10/21/2007, -3/+11No thats Jesus in a relay race.
- Dayyve, on 10/21/2007, -1/+8Holy Smoke(s)!
- chase001, on 10/21/2007, -4/+13Christians are so desperate.
- haentz, on 10/16/2007, -2/+4There is actually an article on a "newspaper" website about this crap???
- maverick71, on 10/21/2007, -2/+7looks like a flame to me ............ What a load of stone age rubbish !
- badassninja, on 10/21/2007, -5/+3As a non Catholic Christian I call BS on this one. Truthfully it kind of creeps me out. I mean the catholic faith already creeps me out, but why would the pope be showing himself thru fire. Why wouldn't he be enjoying being with God in heaven? " You know I could be enjoying heaven right now, but walking around earth and changing the shape of fire to my likeness sounds like more fun. " ( That's a real quote from him ) The Catholic church already gives saints the ableness to get prayers from from believers but now he has some minor super powers as well. This whole thing just doesn't add up to me.
- jdoe562, on 10/21/2007, -3/+1So kill yourself if you want to get to heaven so much.
- Dayyve, on 10/17/2007, -2/+1"As a non Catholic Christian I call BS on this one"
I hope you have some proof to the contrary, because to my eyes that is the Pope and he is controlling that mofo fire. It's all fun and games and non believing until the Pope Torch shows up on your doorstop soliciting donations.

- michaelaranda, on 10/21/2007, -4/+8Once upon a time, I was raised Catholic. Then one day, I stopped going to church, and I lived happily ever after. The End.
- TheCatsPants, on 10/21/2007, -0/+3Yup. Me too. Gave up going to church as soon as my parents figured I was old enough to make up my own mind when I was about 15. There's only so many times that you need to be lectured on how to be a good person.
- jdoe562, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1Your parents didn't think you were old enough to decide until you were 15?
- TheCatsPants, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Well, I had decided long before that, but they kind of insisted until they realised I wasn't going to change my mind. They felt obligated to "encourage" me I suppose. Plus, they didn't want to upset my devout grandparents. Families can be complicated.

- PrettyMuchBryce, on 10/21/2007, -3/+7Well. That proves it then. Theres a god. Time to denounce my own atheism.
- zan012, on 10/21/2007, -2/+10digg is probably the worst place ever to post ***** like this
- mindy624, on 10/21/2007, -0/+3The church isn't endorsing this anymore then it endorses pictures of Jesus on grillcheese sandwiches(which they never look like Jesus to me..only like ugly aliens..).
It says someone who used to WORK at the Vatican claims it!
I don't take this stuff seriously.
Most Catholics wont either.
mindy- scottknick, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2"Details appeared on the Vatican News Service, a TV station in Rome which specialises in religious news broadcasts. . .The pictures were being broadcast continuously on Italian TV . . ."
Doesn't exactly sound like the Vatican is trying to distance itself from this story.- mindy624, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1true...I red the details and found them compelling.
JPII was the Divine Mercy Pope.

- sodoh, on 10/21/2007, -2/+8I say it is a fake. Everyone knows that religious figures only appear on decomposing toast or muffins, or any other small item that can be sold on ebay.
- str3ama, on 10/21/2007, -3/+7you see the pope, I see 2 hamsters washing a frog.
- jtingley, on 10/21/2007, -1/+4Hey, Isn't the image of a person showing up in fire suppose to be a bad thing? I mean... I'm no religious kook but from what I remember, showing up as a blazing fire can't be a good sign.
Now what was it that Christians associate blazing fire with...- mindy624, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1read Ezekiel.
- leetninja, on 10/21/2007, -4/+3i took a dump this morning and it looked exactly like the bible ...
- seraph582, on 10/21/2007, -3/+3i don't believe there's any significance to the picture, but I think it's kinda touching that so many people, with their faith, will be made happy by it.
- jdoe562, on 10/17/2007, -1/+2Yeah, and weren't the crusades a lovely time, making all the good honest Christians happy that all the heathens were being murdered? Ahhh, religion!
- mindy624, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Not as happy as communists and atheists are just killing anyone and anything that moves:
Mao's body count was well over 100 million alone, Lenin and Stalins 50 million, Atheistic China's body count is a staggering 300 million which grows every year with 10 million abortions a year.
Even Islam can't touch that number.

- dinostabOMG, on 10/16/2007, -0/+2Well I guess if the devil can appear in the smoke from the World Trade Center at the instant of photography, why not?
- Maestro2100, on 10/17/2007, -1/+2Nope! not the Pope.... It is was of the countless thousands of innocents that were burned at the stake in the good name of the catholic church. If you look close you can see him giving the Catholic church the finger......
- mindy624, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Ah...the catholic church is universally hated by the whole world!!!
Praise God!!!
Just like Jesus warned it would be.
The world hated him first...so it goes without saying.
Ah...but don't you worry my dear protestants...the world simply LOVES you.
"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.
John 15:17-19
If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.
As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you
out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
John 15:18-20
Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.
1 John 3:12-14

- Dayyve, on 10/17/2007, -1/+3So that's how the Popester got out of Turkey so quick after making the disparaging remarks regarding Muslims. "Sh!te!...Went too far...Muslims getting angry...must regroup back at the Vatican Hideout...FLAME ON!!!"
- WolfLarsen, on 10/17/2007, -5/+02Cor.11 [14] marvel not; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Think about it. The Catholic Church is full of hellish HomoSexual Priests and pedophiles. The Catholic Church, Episcopalians, and many so called Christian denominations believe active gays and pedophiles are DNA abnormal, instead of deviant SINNERS. And they falsely believe they will all go to heaven, because God is love. A Catholic Bishop in San Francisco gave HOLY COMMUNION to un-repentant sinners and homosexuals, thus desecrating the HOLY COMMUNION, HOLY GHOST, and himself! IHMO, he who gives Communion to un-repentant sinners and perverts does not understand the Word of God or what it is to be Holy as Christ is Holy. 1Cor.11 [29] states: For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. Matt.7 [6] Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Furthermore, Biblically speaking, women are NOT to be ministers usurping men.
- art42, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2"...DNA abnormal..."
Keep to your fairy tales and leave science to those that can deal with the REAL WORLD.
Thou shalt not judge and all that... Me thinks you protest too much...

- gmdmartyr, on 10/17/2007, -2/+0THE BIBLE REVEALS NEXT AND LAST POPE WILL BE A DEVIL IMPERSONATING JOHN PAUL II
"The impersonation of John Paul II by a devil will be followed by other impersonations of known personalities climaxing with the impersonation of Jesus Christ by Satan." http://www.worldslastchance.com/ - mindy624, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1'The center of the fire looked like glowing metal, 5 and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. In appearance their form was that of a man, 6 but each of them had four faces and four wings.Ezekiel' 1:4-6
2 I looked, and I saw a figure like that of a man. [a] From what appeared to be his waist down he was like fire, and from there up his appearance was as bright as glowing metal. Ezekiel 8:2
"But," he replied, "I see four men unfettered and unhurt, walking in the fire, and the fourth looks like a son of God." Daniel 3:92 - rocinanth, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Whether you "believe" or not, this is certainly a better story than that of a randomly organized set of charged molecules emitting light that just happen to be in the shape of a man with his hand raised.
For myself, I choose the story where there is a God and good people like John Paul II enjoy an afterlife worthy of their contribution to the world. - mindy624, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1JPII was the Divine Mercy Pope.
