- LOCK3D, on 11/19/2008, -1/+8Not surprising at all. Catholicism probably has the most pagan symbols and rituals of any religion that claims not to be pagan. It isn't just Catholicism though. I think following any established religion is stupid. Fortunately for religions, there are plenty of idiots in the world willing to follow them blindly, believing all sorts of ridiculous stories simply because a large percentage of other people believe them or because they grew up being told these stories by people they trust. If you unquestioningly believe 100% in every aspect of your religion, regardless of which one you follow, you're an idiot.

There's no place like home! - stienster, on 11/19/2008, -2/+4ok, but it (for whatever reason) works for some people. There is DEFINITELY more to know about God without the religious controls, but, some people get alot out of those rituals, while STILL feeling connected to God.

- stienster, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2stargate the series/movie is built off of a real apparatus. Also look up "yellowbook", "montauk project". But aside from that, are you saying you don't believe that there is a spirit, or eternal consciousness, that lives inside/aside/atop of the physical flesh body?- No one can comprehend the ALWAYSNESS OF GOD.
- LOCK3D, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Yes, religion works for some people, much like placebos work for some people. Sometimes ignorance truly is bliss, I suppose. Personally, I can't say I believe in some all powerful deity. To me, the concept just isn't logical. If a creator made the universe, how did this creator come to be in the first place? I'm far more inclined to believe in aliens than god. In fact, if they have any basis in reality at all, I think stories of angels, demons and gods are far more likely to have been alien encounters than something "spiritual". I think there are probably still many people today that would think a UFO or an alien is an angel, a demon or a god. Our primitive ancestors would certainly look at the technology we have today as either divine or demonic. Basically, I think Stargate is more believable than the bible is.

organized this way religion is more spiritual.
Partisan or biased indoctrination is pretty much all a negative in my opinion, and primarily serves to polarize and generate conflict.
Cases in point:
Protestant - Catholic
Catholic - Jew
Jew - Muslim
