The last thing I wanted them to think was that I'd be the one thing in between them making a clean getaway and being captured thanks to a close-up eye witness account. They can have the money.

It wasn't a bank, but some private company that kept a lot of cash on site, and it was arranged by management with help from the police. He and another guy got decked out with all kinds of fake tattoos, distinctive haircuts, clothes etc. and afterward, the management basically tested their employees to see who followed training and tried to memorize details. Out of twenty people who were present only one guy could give any details about appearance (goes to show how unreliable eye-witnesses are). That one guy, though, rattled off a list of twenty details about them to give police a description. I hope he got a raise.
I think we all fantasize about pulling a heist once in a while (or, in my case, daily).

My buddy withdrew $18k in cash for something and open carried in the bank, he said everyone there was on pins and needles.
So, if you're carrying in a bank, and an armed robber comes in, can you shoot him? In FL, you can shoot anyone that you feel threatened by. But what about in other states?
