  • ShadySpace, on 07/09/2009, -0/+15Exactly. If you are having a family dispute, whether between parents and children or spouses, unless physical violence is used NEVER call the cops. I've read way too many stories of a father being killed because his wife didn't know how to have a normal argument. Whatever the situation, the cops WILL make things worse, they are not there for your benefit and protection, they're there to make an arrest.

    Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski arrives in Canada, (apparently) doesn't speak English. Get's agitated, panics in the airport and builds a chair-fortress. Four RCMP officers arrive at the scene. Unprovoked they taser Dziekanski numerous times, he screams, convulses and drops to the floor. One officer attempts to, but is unable to find his pulse, but does not attempt CPR. Fifteen minutes later paramedics arrive and pronounce Dziekanski dead.

    Police confiscate a cell-phone made video of the incident. The owner sues, succeeds to reacquire the video then promptly releases it to the public media. It is clearly shown that the RCMP officers lied in their report, had planned to use the taser even before engaging Dziekanski, and had fired un-provoked.

    But seriously, the above digger is right. The police are not your friends, their jobs are to arrest you for any perceived slight against the law, no matter how retarded, and they have godly legal protections which allow them to abuse their authority. Unless your life is literally in danger and you are willing to never see the family member in question again because they get put in prison or get killed by a trigger-happy cop, DO NOT CALL THE POLICE ON THEM.

    Seriously, this over reliance on cops makes me sick.
