Picture: World's Largest Carpet Woven for Worshippers
news.nationalgeographic.com — Seen here is a section of the world's largest hand-woven rug. Unveiled this week in Tehran, the soccer field-sized carpet was woven for the massive Sheikh Zayed mosque under construction in Abu Zaby, United Arab Emirates. It took 1,200 weavers eighteen months to create the rug, which measures 60,546 square feet.

- thepeacemaker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Curious. How do they get the carpet around pillars? It would make more sense to have smaller chunks of it that can be replaced easily in case of wear tear than have one mammoth sized piece.

I don't want to be a spammer so i wont give anymore info, but if you have an eclectic style you should google it or check out the store.
