Though I would hope I am incorrect, I suspect that these groups have favor over moderate (no Sharia) groups specifically because they also work for the deconstruction of a capitalist, nationalist US, and consider Bush - and thus the Republicans - as the enemy.
Moderate groups, like American Islamic Forum for Democracy http://www.aifdemocracy.org/ and Muslims Against Sharia http://muslimsagainstsharia.blogspot.com/ are kept at arms length.

To my surprise he was the most vehement anti-communist I could ever know. He knew first hand how bad the commissars were. I am certain there are Muslims who have the same passion for freedom and hatred of the dictators whom have perverted their faith. We must seek out such people and help them were ever we can.
