- borez, on 06/25/2009, -2/+23Funny that, the UK has just announced the exact same thing this morning:

Can anybody say Governmental internet control. - paradisetonight, on 06/24/2009, -0/+8Where can i sign up?
- humanerror, on 06/25/2009, -1/+9The number one enemy of any government is the domestic population. This is especially true in states with democratic forms, like the USA.
Just in case anyone was wondering what this is for. - borez, on 06/25/2009, -0/+6Rockefeller would like to see the end of the internet because we now have the ability to out people like himself and show them for who they truly are.
Also I love the: Criminals now have the ability to shut down any systems, electricity, air traffic control etc. etc. etc. One word... *****. Those kind of systems are not accessible through the internet. Period. - seedsofwar, on 06/25/2009, -0/+6they are currently building the requisite dimly lit command center. It includes a large, serious looking tactical swivel chair with pointless LCDs and buttons, perched on a raised platform for the commander, and is also surrounded by numerous workstations for technicians. Each workstation has 15 different monitors that shoot all sorts of text consisting of pseudo C looking babble all over the screen, as well as pointless 3d animations, tactical grids, and sci-fi shapes. each station is also equipped with an oversized boom mike, holographic goggles, and a 3d mouse. a chaotic cacophony of meaningless and irritating beeps, whirls, alarms and chirps.
it's basically Swordfish meets Hackers times over nine thousand. - DarkShroud, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4Just tell people to encrypt their garbage files. Problem solved.
- consciouseffect, on 06/26/2009, -0/+3owned!

God speed.
/salute - BigVi, on 06/25/2009, -2/+5I was surprised that this didn't already exist. How long has the internet been around?
- HurricaneDC, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3Generally speaking, if you're doing a computer-related job you won't be on the frontlines which dramatically reduces your chances of dying.
- Sihing, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3Just approved?
...Yeah, right. - vbullinger, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3I'm not sure. When did Al Gore invent the internet? Was it before or after he invented "global warming?"
- Azzk1kr, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3That's what they want you to believe...!
- rompom7, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Because they didn't want to call it something cheesy... Wait, never mind.
- herbb5000, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2They should change the name, "Cyber Command" sounds like a G.I. Joe toy line.
- paradisetonight, on 06/24/2009, -0/+2why would they, this isnt some advanced AI, its still people
- christoast, on 06/25/2009, -1/+3Its Joshawa
- localzuk, on 06/25/2009, -1/+3Except when you get deployed somewhere else and get shot...
- Toshibi, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2It's sort of sad really. The people best suited for the job are either too fat or too skinny for the job. Maybe if they took a whole bunch of us and just averaged out the weight? I wonder if Cheetos and Mountain Dew will come in the MREs? Will they assign quarters in old women's basements? Will they give a voucher for asthma? We should call up some recruiters and find out.
- zombird, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2HACK THE PLANET!
- zantos420, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2I'm going to go to yellowpages.com and find every John Connor listed and tell them to get into a bunker immediately.
- Dubersive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Am I the only one who's reminded of Ghost in The Shell by this? I wonder if their lead officer is a scantily clad badass-hotty.
But seriously, I'm a little frightened by this. - inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Hack the planet...lol at the "fight the NWO" synchronicity
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Activate Conficker.c DNS server destruction protocol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct9xzXUQLuY&
Isn't it too obvious that the same day conficker gets an update (April Fools HA) is the same day The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 introduced in the Senate by U.S. Senators John D. Rockefeller (D-WVA) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME)., and then on April 8th there was a story from the WSJ about Energy Grid Ninjas from China and maybe Russia that just show up out of nowhere? And the other story about Obama and ACTA but it was introduced during the Bush years but somehow Obama just continues some of Bush's policies such as wiretapping... Is your memory THAT short? FISA?
Yes of course it is Chinese and Russia...always been at war with eurasia. Why would it not be Iran or Venezuela or any other country that defies the British Empire... Damn Nigerian Princes hacking the entire internet because we didn't send them enough credit cards. - inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct9xzXUQLuY&
Does anybody remember April fools day? - noahhoward, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1Paranoia is one hell of an entertaining disease.
*popcorn* - senae, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1So they should make it not awesome? I don't really understand what you''re saying.
- F34RInc, on 06/26/2009, -0/+1Were boned
- ShadowofAres, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1The Army could get you fit in under 8 weeks.
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -0/+1Imma go way out on a limb here, and bet that the Pentagram is up to no-good... Any takers?
- johndavidjack, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1And I'm going to go to yellowpages.com and find every Sarah Conner listed and kill them.
Wait, what day is it, what year is it? - consciouseffect, on 06/26/2009, -0/+1waiting for someone to say it, even digg users are trusting, no you can pretty much bet theres malicious intent behind this
- Skab, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1Finally I'm sick of helping out idiots at pencirt.
- Charmainelim, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1Hacking is nothing new in cyberspace.
- zantos420, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1you just gave fire to a pyro good sir; fire... to a pyro.
- KahRahTay, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1they'd be more than happy to help you with that. the military has pre-boot camps for fat people
- nickem, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1"The new headquarters... will be responsible for defending U.S. military systems but not other U.S. government or private networks, Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said."
Link please. Where does it specifically say "not other U.S. government or private networks"? What a joke, and it's on U S. I can't wait to see the "Non-allowed Internet Access" list. - KahRahTay, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1@HurricaneDC
"frontlines" dont really exist anymore. they were more of a conventional warfare thing. remember, US policy is to not send women into battle either, but they still wind up fighting when the battle comes to them.
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07168/794874-85.stm - inactive, on 06/25/2009, -1/+1I totally agree! Here comes SkyNet!
- praetoriaen, on 06/25/2009, -2/+2This is so gonna end like Terminator... we should start making a counteroffensive...
- nyxerebos, on 06/25/2009, -2/+2Wonder why the corny name, sounds like an entity in a bad 80s 'hacker' movie. Why not 'Internet Tactical Operations' or 'Military Network Communications Authority'?
- KahRahTay, on 06/25/2009, -0/+0well played
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -2/+2Damn it, I was really looking forward to these comments, but so far they really suck.
- ArthorBearing, on 06/25/2009, -0/+0Cybersecurity! Typical government cheesy buzzword, great build a big ponderous military superstructure so it can lag five years behind the hackers, awesome.
- vbullinger, on 06/25/2009, -1/+1More like "just announced."
People are so desensitized, they felt that they wouldn't revolt nowadays when they reveal it. - richmomz, on 06/25/2009, -2/+2Thank goodness we have the new Cyber Gestapo to keep e-terrorists from attacking our pr0n!
- KahRahTay, on 06/25/2009, -1/+0lol'd at Hackers reference
- heiman, on 06/25/2009, -2/+1We keep hearing stories about the Chinese hacking us … are we hacking them?
