Pentagon: U.S. Will Still Detain Hamdan Even if Acquitted

thinkprogress.org — MORRELL: Even if he were acquitted of the charges that are before him, he would still be considered an enemy combatant and therefore would continue to be subject to continued detention.

  • carterartist, on 08/06/2008, -1/+17With these kinds of actions, the US is going to have a very difficult time when we talk about "foreign" oppressive governments. The truth is, this along with most of the Bush Regime's actions over the past 8 years are exactly similiar to actions taken by Castro, Kim Jung, Stalin, etc... When we forsake the liberties that us soldiers risked our lives, or died for just to present a false sense of security, well.. .it makes it kind of worthless.

    Folks, that's exactly what is happening right now in our government, except it's not fiction. We really are being led by a bunch of idiot goons with no regard for our Constitution or the principles that this country was founded upon.

    I mean, as an American, doesn't ***** like this severely piss you off?

    It's a sad, sad day when our own leaders have become more anti-American than the terrorists they are supposed to defend us from.
