- PatrioticKiwi, on 02/24/2008, -47/+268>> Pakistan has blocked access to the popular YouTube website because of content deemed offensive to Islam
ISLAM itself is offensive to a lot of infidels. Maybe we should ban it. Most of us would much rather there be no Islam than no YouTube. - coolian, on 02/24/2008, -12/+110Pakistan is going the way of Afghanistan under the Taliban. It seems that the country is intent on living in the 10th century.
- stutimandal, on 02/24/2008, -5/+85Right time to provide proxy services.
- inactive, on 02/24/2008, -22/+97Why on earth would someone run their life by a religion which they:
a) do not know is true
b) have no evidence of being true
c) is possibly *****
I don't understand why people get so entangled in religion and I would HATE to live in a country where religion was as dominant as it is in Pakistan. I don't think it's possible for us as mere humans to understand religion and I think that maybe it might not be worth fighting over, and certainly not worth blocking all the cute kitten videos for. - inactive, on 02/24/2008, -2/+72FYI, they caused the one hour world-wide youtube blackout: http://system.opendns.com/2008/02/24/58/
- SoxFanNH, on 02/24/2008, -9/+74Seems like everything is offensive to Islam these days...
- spiralspirit, on 02/24/2008, -20/+75Well, I don't see anything bad about this - that is of course unless you live in Pakistan.
//doesn't live in Pakistan
//doesn't care whether or not they get Youtube - Sabakunoneji, on 02/24/2008, -7/+60I bet it was that video about the sun revolving around the earth.
- captoftheworld, on 02/24/2008, -11/+53Who gives a *****?
It's not the first time these people have made fools of themselves. - cstaylor, on 11/12/2009, -2/+40I'd hate to see what they do when they find Digg.
- sleeknerve, on 02/24/2008, -5/+42People need to lighten up, as if youtube is in some way harming their religion. Youtube is one of many sites that give "power to the people" (even if the people are somewhat retarded)Islam really needs to get their religion under control. I deem Islam offensive to me.
- aaabatteries, on 02/24/2008, -11/+43No more rick-rolling those Muslim terrorists?!?!!!
- NathanCH, on 02/24/2008, -6/+35who needs youtube when you have porntube?
- hornfinger, on 02/24/2008, -0/+24Start posting inappropriate comments and get dugg down?
- CazMo, on 02/24/2008, -1/+25Takes a real piece of ***** to knock a guy for watching porn, you know.
- stack3r, on 02/24/2008, -1/+24If so many americans are reasonable, why do all the nutters seem to run the country?
- inactive, on 02/24/2008, -2/+24Clearly they are pre-emptive measures against Rick Roll.
- badqat, on 02/24/2008, -8/+30But all these cartoons of Mohammad I've drawn...they aren't the least bit offensive!
- Dunhamzzz, on 02/24/2008, -1/+19They probably expect Youtube to be really sorry and change for them
- maeon3, on 02/24/2008, -4/+22I don't think a religion should be allowed to censor the internet. That just doesn't seem like a really good idea mmm kay?
- jimmy17, on 02/24/2008, -4/+22Who's guessing this all began when Musharraf was Rickrolled:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2b1D5w82yU
Its not just offensive to Islam mate! - inactive, on 02/24/2008, -0/+17its not government's job to protect your kids from watching what they are not supposed to watch. what the ***** is your purpose then as a parent???
- inactive, on 02/24/2008, -3/+19Some examples of what you are now firmly missing out on if you live in Pakistan:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=YWQzqky2lqQ&feature=rel ...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Wpv01Yo1igA - inactive, on 02/24/2008, -4/+20Bring Ackmed over and I will.
- raid517, on 02/24/2008, -0/+15And the positive side to state censorship is.... erm ...what exactly?
- requiem3, on 02/24/2008, -4/+19He was just making a point. Banning YouTube is ridiculous, and so is banning Islam(no matter how idiotic it is)
- inactive, on 02/24/2008, -4/+19Pakistan (a nuclear power) is going out of control..............
- Barbosa, on 02/24/2008, -21/+36Are you serious? The people inside that country are the ones who should decided for themselves whether they want to be Muslim or Christian and what type of government they should have. It is up to them not us. Ban Islam, yeah that sounds like a grand idea! We banned AlJazeera in the US even though it is a legitimate news service. The us against them mentality and the stereotyping in the west still amazes me.
- ghee, on 02/24/2008, -1/+16I was born in Pakistan but raised in America and this saddens me. Pakistan has been going in a downwards direction recently. Blocking youtube isn't going to do anything because there are tons of other sites that contain "offensive" material. Knowing the youth over there, the government is just going to make it harder to keep this under control by blocking youtube.
- mattluiz, on 08/28/2009, -8/+22Who needs porntube when you have a girlfriend?
- highstriker, on 02/24/2008, -0/+14Censorship is serious business.
- ericdano, on 02/24/2008, -6/+20Just sad. Islam. I see offensive content all the time, but it is a simple process to just ignore it or just click to close it.
- OJXs, on 02/24/2008, -2/+16I do, for when she is not around.
- oxdeltaxo, on 02/24/2008, -4/+18Meh it's their country they have every right to be offended. Just don't tell me how to live in my country and we can get along.
- johnlandes, on 02/24/2008, -3/+16Technically, they are living in the year 1429
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_calendar - Pritchard, on 02/24/2008, -0/+12You don't have a girlfriend though.
- fwertz, on 02/24/2008, -2/+14So Pakistan was reason I bitched and moaned for fifteen minutes because I couldn't watch some 3 year old talk Starwars jargon?
I can feel myself becoming more Eurocentric by the minue. - Paktu, on 02/24/2008, -2/+14You know, a lot of diggers are going to say "oh this is just the government out of control". But it wouldn't shock me if this turns out to be popular with many ordinary Pakistanis. You just know that the religious right in the USA would love if it could do the exact same thing.
- Neticule, on 02/24/2008, -7/+19Not just ISLAM for me, all religions I find quite offensive.
- chrispr, on 02/24/2008, -2/+14lol @ using new technology to push themselves back into the stone age
- wellyuk, on 02/24/2008, -0/+11Inappropriate for whom? Who decides what is inappropriate? Well, the Pakistan government I suppose. I'm not sure it's up to a government to decide what is appropriate or otherwise.
- hornfinger, on 02/24/2008, -5/+16If so many muslims are reasonable, why do all the nutters seem to run the countries?
- limes4all, on 02/24/2008, -1/+12Like, does he have a car?
- digindrivefast, on 02/24/2008, -1/+12So you agree that your government has the right to protect the people from corrupt material that goes against Islam? Censorship in America is certainly something that most fight hard to prevent.
Good luck to you in your Web site endeavors! - Vowieotw, on 02/25/2008, -0/+11If freedoms of anyone are taken away, it is a bad thing.
- ensleader, on 02/24/2008, -2/+12I think I speak for everyone when I say: Good.
- RetepNamenots, on 02/24/2008, -2/+12And YouPorn!
- JonForTheWin, on 02/24/2008, -4/+14The Pakistani people need to overthrow their government and publicly execute every high ranking member of their government.
Or evolution will forget them. - spiralspirit, on 02/24/2008, -4/+13Because a lot of people feel the same way as I do.
What I'm surprised about is that you didn't figure it out on your own. - adooga, on 02/24/2008, -1/+10Am I to understand that you've got a girlfriend and you're NOT uploading your ***** to porntube??
